Can anyone tell me how much the mini celebration cakes are?
Has anyone also gotton the party favors and pop-up centerpiece? Did you like them and how much are they?

Does anyone know if Crystal Palace does special birthday cakes as well if you order ahead?

THe 6 inch celebrate today cakes are avaialbe at the podium for $21. They are choclate or vanilla. I have read on here that they can not be personalized.

If you call the cake hotline and follow the prompts you can speak to someone about ordering a custom cake for delivery to CP.

I'm not feeling the magic of the cake hotline or ordering through Pat at GF. I just got quoted $120 for a two tier (3 inch on 6 inch) chocolate cake with a white castle topper, white buttercream with yellow scallops, a red rose with green stem and glitter dust. I had figures I was going to provide for the cake. I was told this was a total custom cake and it was 'labor intensive' to make. DH said I should pay it but I think it's exhorbitant. They usually decorate the castle cakes with scallops and a rose, I don't see how adding color to them makes it 'labor intensive.'

I am sure its the tiers that is costing so much. Can you do the cake with just one tier? That will bring the cost down a great deal.

I really think they are trying to discourage people from giving them all these requests. It's so much easier to sell people the podium or predesigned cake (no creativity involved so a junior chef can make it.) That way they can focus on the big money makers; the wedding cakes. Why else would they start charging $30 for an edible image when a year ago it was $6? So most people say forget it and no one has to go find an image and do the work to transfer it. In addition, the bottom layer of the mini wedding cakes are 4 inches, why can't they put a 4 inch cake on a 6 inch cake? They don't have to cut those down. There is very little extra work involved in tinting the icing so that part really shouldn't be adding to the cost. She specifically said 'the rose was a specialty item with the glitter dust':confused3 ??!??!!?!??? They are going to put a rose on the cake anyway, (unless the design has changed since last year) tint it red and put some glitter on it and charge a few dollars, not increase the cost of the cake by 50% or more. I was prepared to pay a bit more for the castle topper, heck, I figured $35 for the larger cake and another $25-30 for the castle cake, making it $60-65; instead it was twice that, plus tax and gratuity. There is no difficult decorating, they just have to tint the icing.

I just ordered a 6 inch castle cake and was quoted $36. Pat said they can put the yellow scallops on it for me. I told her I wanted to bring out some of the iconic Beauty and the Beast imagry, which is why I wanted yellow on the cake in the first place.

Ugh, I can't believe it's $30 extra for an edible image. I'm strongly re-considering whether I want to order a custom cake for our June 13th CP lunch...

Has anyone ever gotton a custom cake from AKL?
We will be arriving on my DD's birthday and would love to have one that night after we arrive...

Mousehouselover,
Are you a cake decorator yourself? Just wondering? Because in all acuatlity there are no 4" cake pans so all 4" cakes have to be cut from a larger cake. So thus making a cake more labor intensive. Plus all cakes at Disney are filled. So filling a 4" cake and then decorating it is not an easy task. Mini cakes are sometimes more labor intensive then a 5 tiered wedding cake.

Yikes! Has this gone up in the last month?? I called not too long ago to get an idea on the price of our June cakes. I was given a starting price of $10 for the image on an 8in. I'm reading that everyone is being told you can only do images on 10 inch and up.. Now, $30 just for the image?? This is a little crazy.. Where did that come from??

Where n I find pics of the princess and pirate cakes? Can you just order these from the podium?

How big are the Mickey Mouse head cakes? My youngest son's 2nd birthday is the first day we arrive. Does anyone know if they offer a Goofy or Donald cake other than it being an edible image?

For the Mickey head cake, what number do I call to order it? I will want it delivered to the restaurant we will eat at that day.

Thanks!

The Mickey Cake was to feed 8 people but it was truely big enough to feed 14-16 with "real" sized pieces. I called the day that we arrived and spoke with the Boma rest. person to order it. I believe that the cake needs to come from the restaurant that you are eating in, and we were given 3 cake options...Mickey, a zebra, or a plain round cake. We could choose between 2 cake flavors and fillings. They are supposed to have 48 hours notice.

I hope this helps.

We had the mickey head cake Saturday night at Jiko - it was delicious! :goodvibes We picked white cake & white icing. I was really surprised how big it was. Four of us ate it and only finished off one of his ears. We had it boxed up and took it back to the room and will be eating it all week. One thing - found out later that the birthday girl loves "milk" chocolate and there's tons of delicious dark chocolate shavings and glaze. Just in case your chocolate lover is picky - like mine!

As for how to order, I called the main cake hotline and was prompted to press the number for restaurants at Animal Kingdom Lodge, another prompt took me to Jiko.

I know your family will LOVE it!

Thanks for the information!

There will only be 4 of us and two are children, so the Mickey head might be way too big. I'll call the cake line and see what all my options are.

I was at WDW over the weekend and decided to investigate the on-property options for picking up a cake (for those who don’t want to order a cake for a restaurant meal using the Cake Hotline or for their hotel room using Private Dining at their resort). Most of this info has been mentioned on this thread before, but I thought I’d put it all together in one post (also, I scored a copy of BoardWalk Bakery’s cake order sheet, so I’ll post that below!)

In a nutshell, only the BoardWalk Bakery offers fancy cakes for pickup, and those must be ordered 48 hours in advance. (The cakes on display at the bottom of the case are not for sale.)

The Main Street Bakery in the Magic Kingdom offers only 6-inch Sara Lee cakes for pickup, and I was told you need to give them a few hours’ notice so they can defrost the cake for you. They also have simple pre-made cakes at some of the resort food courts. The only one I investigated was Pop Century’s, so I’ll put that info below.

BoardWalk Bakery

And they appeared to be working on a custom cake that day.

Main Street Bakery at the Magic Kingdom
The only cakes available for pickup here are the 6-inch frozen Sara Lee cakes that you can order at the podium at any MK restaurant. They cost $21 + tax and require a few hours’ notice if you want them defrosted first. Here’s a picture of the frozen cake we got at the podium at Tony’s Town Square (plus some Halloween sprinkles). If you like supermarket cake, you will like the Sara Lee cakes.

Value Resort Food Courts
The only place I investigated was Pop Century, but I would imagine the All-Stars have similar offerings. There were two kinds of 6-inch cake in the refrigerated case near the bottled drinks: Vanilla Cake w/ Vanilla Buttercream and Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Buttercream. These also appear to be Sara Lee cakes. The price is $21 + tax.
