your post is just what i've been waiting to hear. :confused3 what happened to the pictures????? please try to post the pictures again.

thanks, who.

Does the butter cream taste bad now, or does it still taste like the icing from Publix or Walmart? :scared:

I didn't think it tasted bad - it still tasted like Publix frosting to me (though the chocolate was not as fudgy as Publix...)

Just back from our anniversary trip. Here are the pics of the cake I ordered for our dinner at Narcoossee's. Let me just say it far exceeded my expectations. The pics really don't do it justice. The bakery took it upon themselves to make the gorgeous sugar roses in the middle. You can't see it well in the pics, but they were covered in sparkles. It also tasted fantastic. I was not however prepared for how big it would be. I knew going into it I had to order a 10" to get what I wanted, but it's hard to imagine it until you see it in person. We shared it with friends the next day & had some in the room, but still had 1/2 a cake left. We gave it to bell services when we checked out. Just an FYI if you're ordering a 10" cake & you plan to take the leftovers with you you'll need a full sized refrigerator to store it. Also it was not on my dinner bill. Pat asked me for my credit card when she took the order & said it would be charged the day of. Maybe they've changed their policy & no longer add it to the bill. Too bad because I would have saved 20% with my TIW card. Oh well still worth it!

The sugar roses in the middle of your cake are pre made in China. They are placed in the center of the cake after the Buttercream has been applied.

How do you know that? Do you work at the bakery?

We had the chocolate slipper dessert at CRT at the end of April. We were served the the dark chocolate version even though when I ordered it the cake hotline said the slipper would be white chocolate. I thought it was yummy and worth the money--$12.50 plus tax and tip.

Thank you for posting your recent experience (and photo) of the elusive dark chocolate slipper. :thumbsup2

It does still exist. There's just no rhyme or reason to when you might get one though.

Called the CP, no luck they refered me to the Cake Hotline. I'm just trying to see if there's anyway we could get some sort of image on the 8 inch cake, i'd be willing to pay extra, but no luck so far. The 10 inch is just way to big for us.

Just wanted to show you all the awesome cake that I got for my DD 5th b-day while dining at 1900 Park Fare. I had ordered it a few days before and did not really know what to expect. I wanted something Hannah Montanna and when I called the cake hotline they said it would be a 10 inch with silk screen of Hannah Montana and they could include "Happy Birthday Grace". I really thought it would just be an ordinary cake with regular frosting and the picture but it was so much more! Covered in White Chocolate Fondant and the picture was on white chocolate with chocolate shavings all aroud. It really was awesome... no too bad for $47.00 either!

So, I need to call the main # now to get a cake for dd's bday at Akershaus? What info will I need? Just a flavor and character preference? How about size...for 6 people? Price range? Thanks!

Has anyone had any experience with cakes from the Contemporary? We are spending our honeymoon there (BLT actually) in October, and my DF's birrthday is just 2 weeks before the wedding. I'm sure we will end up doing something low key for hsis bady, so I thought that maybe a cake in the room might be nice a couple weeks later. Plus, he's turning 30, so that's another reason to celebrate- although he probably thinks otherwise :lmao:

To have a cake delivered to your room you need to call the CR private dining line. Calling the cake hotline doesn't work.

I just ordered one for our room. You can also ask it be left in the fridge in the event you're out when it comes.

I'm thinking of just ordering a treasure box Pirate cake instead. Has anyone tried it? How's the taste? Does anyone know how many people it feeds?

Not to beat a dead horse here, but what exactly is the point of your reply? Clearly you are someone that has insider info on the goings on in the bakery. It just seems to me like you are trying to stir the pot. Oh btw the sugar roses you thought were so beautiful came from China & the bakery put no thought or effort into your cake. Haha!! Is that the message you're trying get across? If you're trying to dissuade people from ordering custom cakes why don't you just state everything you know to be true in one post & then let people decide if they want to spend the money or not. And yes I agree with you that $2.50/strawberry is a ridiculous amount of money, but I was trying to create something very specific for a special occassion. I think it's just mean spirited to make people feel like they've been had after the fact. JHMO.

You had a BEAUTIFUL cake!! Don't let others make you feel bad! You enjoyed it and that is what matters! I hope my daughter's birthday cake comes out as great as yours did! :)

Please accept my apology.
I'm sorry. I guess I whould have worded the post differently. The cake was very nice. I was just pointing out that the gum paste roses in the center were NOT made in the bakery as the truth is, it is very time consuming-so they are shipped in from China.
I was not implying the cake didn't look nice. Sorry that it read that way.

As far as the strawberries are concerned- I have and always will maintain that $2.50 for 1 strawberry is pricey. Imagine $72 for a dozen tuxedo strawberries. But they sell. So it will stay that price.

donnajean, I saw those pictures yesterday at Curves!!!! I heard you had a great time. I am happy Grace liked the Belle dress! tell jamie Jimmy's mom says hi.

I've been trying to figure out for weeks what kind of cake to surprise my DH with on his 38th b-day. This sounds like something I might want to order also. Is there a pic of it anywhere?
