Okay I think I have this right, but I want to make sure. We are staying at CBR. I want to order a Mickey head cake for DS. If I order this cake and have it delivered to our room it will come from the Boardwalk Bakery, right? :confused3 I feel so lost with all this cake stuff!

Has anyone had the mini celebration pirate treasure chest cake? I am thinking about it for ds 9th b-day. :confused3 I don't want anything too big since we are leaving the next day. I would love to hear some feedback on these cakes.

These cakes are about 3"x5" and about as tall as a good sized cupcake. They aren't bad but since they keep them fridge/freezer prior to delivering them it might be pretty hard when you first get it. If you order one you might want to mention it to your server as soon as you get there and ask that they take it out of the fridge/freezer. When you open the treasure chest it looks like the cake is pretty deep but it is sitting on a cardboard insert. It is definitely enough for a few servings.

I just ordered a cake for DS & DD birthday at Chef Mickey's.
I spoke with a wonderful lady by the name of Eddie.:thumbsup2
I ordered the 8" Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing/filling with an image of Mickey & Minnie on it and Happy Birthday Nicholas and Emma on it...YEA!!!

Price: $32 plus $15 for the image (plus tax)

Any tips for getting a Polynesian themed cake for DW? She LOVES LOVES LOVES chocolate!!!

Thanks so much for the info. Especially about taking it out of the fridge/feezer. I think my ds will enjoy it.:flower3:

Hi all! We were at Disney last week for my birthday. My fiance had ordered a cake to be delivered to Ohana. We both were dissapointed in the whole thing. First. The people at Ohana forgot about the cake so my fiance actually had to ask totally ruining the surprise. Also. He was incredibly limited to what he could do. He asked for white cake, raspberry filling and buttercream frosting. They said they could only do chocolate mousse, white chocolate mousse or buttercream as fillings. He agreed to buttercream filling. For $45 dollars and at a place where they make wedding cakes of all kinds...I find it hard to believe that they couldnt do a simple filling.
The cake was cute:

But I guess they gave him a ton of hassle for ordering a custom cake with Rafiki. They kept telling him about the premade podium cakes pushing and pushing them on him. He called a few different cast members. Overall I was confused. How could LurkyLoo get that AWESOME anniversary cake but my fiance couldnt get raspberry filling and a printed image? The cake overall was not the buttercream we were expecting. It was so cold it was almost frozen and therefore the cake had a weird texture.

Very weird. And the worst part is that my fiance was devestated. He wanted this to be one of the best birthday surprises, had to ruin it by asking about it in front of me and then it was kinda yucky. :sad2: So I think for our September trip I am going to call every day until I can get the perfect cake for HIM as a surprise to make up for it.
:)

Either way:

White cake, buttercream filling, buttercream frosting

$45 dollars

I'm so sorry to hear about your disappointing experience! :sad2: The only bakeries that make fancy cakes like ours are the Grand Floridian and Yacht & Beach Club bakeries. The Polynesian is not set up to do fancy cakes, unfortunately, and the only way to get Grand Floridian/YBC cakes is to eat at a restaurant there or stay there.

Because we had a private event at Epcot, we were able to work with our planner to get a cake made at the Grand Floridian and transported to Epcot (for a hefty fee ). I know of one person who was able to get the Grand Floridian to deliver a cake to her room at the Contemporary, but it all seems to depend on who you talk to.

So your best bet for September is to make a dining reservation at one of the restaurants at the Grand Floridian and then call Pat in GF Private Dining to arrange for your cake: 407-824-2474.

From everything I had read I decided to drop the idea of a special birthday cake, it seems to be too much hassle when WDW offers so many awesome deserts anyways.

That was my understanding as well. Good advice too! We're planning to do 2 cakes in October and I am purposely planning to eat at GF restaurants. Reason being that I want a custom, pretty cake for my DD9 who turns 10 and another fabulous one at Narcoossee's for my in-laws 40th anniversary. I definitely don't want a podium cake or an 8" with hastily piped writing on it! So I'll be talking to Pat too when the time gets closer!:goodvibes

THANKS for the advice! :worship: We are planning on 1900 Park Fare so I'll do it there!

The Poly doesn't do the fancy cakes like GF and Y/BC, but they used to do some other fillings beyond basic buttercream or mousse. We had a yellow cake with strawberries in custard filling and chocolate buttercream frosting for DS's birthday dinner at Kona in Jan '08, and it was excellent.

We're celebrating my DD's birthday at CRT. Does anyone have any pics of cakes that can be ordered there? THANKS!!!

I was just looking at the Official Cake Thread sticky here and was wondering if there is anyplace online that you can see the different options for decorating available.

I am going in August and while I am leaving 2 days before my actual birthday, I would like to have a little celebration there since its the big 4 - 0!

Note about having cakes delivered to your room - don't waste your time calling the cake hotline. I tried and my only choices were for restaurants in the hotel.

I finally called the hotel (CR) and even the switchboard operator tried to send me to the cake hotline. When I told her it wouldn't work, she said I had to order it from private dining when I was there.

Know that's not the case, I asked her to connect me to private dining. The person happily took my order to be delivered when I arrived.

My only disappointment is that 6" cakes can't be customized. I had to order the plain old vanilla or chocolate cake.

If I wanted to order the miniwedding cake from Boardwalk Bakery, for our honeymoon in July, do I call the cake hotline or the Bakery? Also, I don't want it till the last night, should I just wait till we get in town?
Thanks!

We will be celebrating my daughters' 8th b-day at the Whispering Canyon and I would like to order her a cake. She really loves anything Disney, but especially loves ducks. I was wondering if they do specific character cakes, like maybe Donald and Daisy? I don't want to be over the top, but do want it to look unique and fun for her. This thread is so long I am not even sure if this was already mentioned, so I apologize if this is a repeat. thanks!!!

I'm also looking for the same information as I will be celebrating my Birthday while at Disney
