Official Breast Feeding Support Thread for WDW Parks

The only carrier that I can easily breastfeed in is my Babyhawk. It's easy to just lower it down in the front and latch him on. Other mei tais would work the same way. He just nurses sitting up.

Thanks mommybelle08! I'm going to try this with my ellaroo wrap!

I nursed my son in the Playhouse Disney show last November, and then utilized the Babycare center at DL the rest of the trip. We are going in December and he is a much quicker, much more efficient nurser and we will probably just stop and nurse where ever we are. I have mastered the art of layering and can nurse without a cover without exposure now!

Nursing in the Ergo is really easy. Just loosen the shoulder straps to drop your babe down a few inches (so they're at the right height), latch on, and then you can put up the "sleeping hood" so that you're covered. I nursed DS in the Ergo in lines at WDW and no one even noticed, even though they were standing right next to me.

Nursing in a sling was easy when DS was little, but now that he's too big for anything but a hip carry, it's too tough for us to figure it out. I just can't get him centered in the right place. :confused3

Playhouse Disney/Disney Jr. show is one of my favorite places to nurse at Studios. Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast...pretty much anywhere I am sitting down, I will nurse.

Out of curiosity, how did you manage to cover with a 10 month old? I used a bebe au lait today with DS (also 10 mos), and he would not have it. Is your DS just used to it?

you know, some days he won't have it either, especially in that heat. but, for the most part he doesnt mind having it over his head-he's more concentrated on the goods haha! He is also kind of a peanut (16 pounder at almost 11 months) so maybe that helps:confused3 I dont know, i guess he just doesnt mind it!

Our youngest was 21 months old when we last visited WDW, and she was a hardcore nurser. She did not like to be covered, and she loved to look around at what was going on while she was nursing. On a positive note, I nursed her everywhere - never felt like I had to "hide" somewhere, and if anyone gave me a nasty look, I surely did not notice it... wouldn't have mattered anyway, because I'd have really pitied the person who delayed her "E-E's." :lmao:

My advice to other nursing moms out there? Discretion is nice, but the most important thing is making yourself and your baby comfy. I've never eaten a meal in a bathroom, and neither have my children - ultimately, the decision is yours. Smile, nurse your baby wherever YOU want to, and enjoy every second of it, because they grow up so quickly! :goodvibes

If you were wondering... my "baby" is almost 11 years old, and she's just as opinionated as ever. I have no idea where she got that from. :rolleyes1

We are at Disney now, have been in Florida since Thursday. My 26 month old has asked to nurse several times, but I've put her off until we get back to the townhouse at night. She is so excited about everything that she isn't putting up a fight about it! I have noticed several people nursing, and no one has given them a hard time that I've seen.

For anyone nursing at Disney or NIP anywhere, I just got this cover with my second DS and its a huge stress relief from a blanket. It is really light weight, has a little bag it comes with, and you can see the baby to get a good latch. I love it!

it was seriously worth every penny! I nurse everywhere with no problems staying covered!:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2
I have used this nursing cover since the birth of my first baby!

I have that nursing cover. I find it too difficult to fumble with when LO is hungry. I'd rather just whip it out au natural :rotfl:

I've received a few nursing covers for our babies but I haven't used a single one. It depends on what you want. I don't want to fumble with a blanket or cover up of any kind, and I want to see my little one's face while he or she is eating. Not that you'd be choosing to fumble by using a cover up!! Gotta make sure my bases are covered. I don't want anyone to think i'm being insulting, because I'm not trying to be! :)

I've nursed all but the first one all over at WDW and have never had an issue, besides an occasional CM telling me there was a Baby Care station. I always thank them and say I'm aware. Only a few will continue and say I could nurse there. To them, I very sweetly and politely reply that I'm happy where I am and that I don't hide in a dark room to eat. That usually ends it. Its all good!!

fyi Mamas, I was posting a while back about selecting a sling to nurse in and one thats good for hot weather too.
I got a sakura bloom and we went on a mini vaca to the shore with our 6 wk old. I love this sling!!! Its SO easy to nurse in, lightweight, has a great option to cover if u want or au naturel if u want. Can't say enough great things about it.

This is a great thread! Thanks for having this great resource!

I nurse in Lille Baby, the same way the PP does with the ergo. Works Great!

I am SO happy to have found this thread!
My DD just turned 2 and was an avid nurser until she self weaned at 23 months!
We went to WDW when she was 6 months old. I never felt like I had to hide but did use the baby care centers, as she was a real nosy little thing!

I found it super easy to nurse in both a sling and Ergo.

If I could post a picture- I have 2 of her "just out of hiding" to meet a character at a restaurant!

I guess for me, im just not comfortable going all out, so I like my cover because I can see my LOs face while nursing and still feel comphy and modest. :) Thats cool tho that you are fine nursing whereever you are. Our kiddos are both getting the good stuff either way!:lovestruc
