I'm not sure I would trust the inconsistent temps of a cooler. But that may just be me. The "rule" is 6 hours at room temp, 6 days in a fridge, 6 months in the freezer (the amount of time can vary depending on who you ask, lol). Also, I totally understand someone watching baby while mom's at a park, but the cold medicine isn't a problem. There's lots of meds that are safe to take while BF. Also, I've seen others say that it's possible to "rent" a bigger fridge from the resort, so that's a possibility, too.

I had a great little chat with a mom in the Magic Kingdom baby care center yesterday - DS was having trouble nursing in the heat so we had to get some relief! This mom had a 4 month old son, and while talking about our son's ages (mine is 10 months), she asked if I was planning to nurse for the full 12 months. I told her I was planning to nurse until my son was done, possibly to 3 years or more. She was really interested in that - she knew some people did that, but had never met anyone personally who had nursed past 12 months. I talked with her about supplementing with solid foods, teaching not to bite, how often an older baby will typically nurse, how you will not leak all over the place forever, etc. It was really great for me to be able to share my experience with a new mom!

Nursed my 7 month old at WDW without incident. Very thankful for this.

I would have never thought of actually pushing up the bra to nurse and wearing a semi normal one. And I just ordered more nursing bras that I'm not entirely in love with. Hmm...good food for thought, I'll have to rummage around and see if I can find some in the size I currently am.

Be careful doing this as the bra can cut off your ducts and you won't empty completely. This could cause a problem for you and could prevent your LO from getting the good hind milk.

Well, I never expected to still be nursing by the time this trip rolled around. We are slated to leave in 19 days and my 18 month old son is still nursing. He's showing no signs of slowing. He is able to go an entire day without his "milp" so I'm hoping that he won't need to nurse while in the parks. I have no problem nursing public but now that he's older, he has a tendency to expose me from time to time. Let's also not forget that it's going to be hot, hot, HOT mid to late June and having a 25lb baby stuck to you isn't exactly ideal.

I'll be nursing my 5 1/2 month old in September at WDW. I already did with ODS a couple of years ago, but this trip will be very different--I'l be there with my FIL and BIL's. Ugh. I'm all about NIP, but my IL's are weirded out by it. I really don't won't to hide out for half of my vacay, so help me be brave. I guess I'll just have to be the weirdo and let them deal with it. Also I'll have three boys to keep up with while I nurse the little one. Maybe I can master nursing in the ergo by then. I just figured it out in the Moby today, but she'll outgrow that by then. Gotta love goin on vacation with the inlaws!

I never vacationed with the in-laws and I never will but I spent a lot of time at family get-togethers hiding out to nurse with my first two kiddos. When number three came along, I decided that they can leave the room if they don't like it that my baby is nursing. Now, I didn't give my brothers in law a show- I was discreet and used a cover when we weren't at home, but I did feed my son when he needed it. It really just took a few times and they accepted it and I never heard a word. Now, who knows what was said behind my back, but I really don't care! Good luck and enjoy your trip!

I've been reading this thread for about a week now and finally reached the end. Baby #2 is due in less than a month and we'll be at Disney when she's about 3 months old. I wasn't particularly nervous about nursing her there, but it's nice to see all the support.

What I'm amazed at are all the tips and tricks that I had totally forgotten about in the 2 years since I stopped nursing my first! I would have had to relearn a few things had I not read them here. I'm lucky that we have a really great nursing support group at the local hospital. It helped me quite a bit to be able to drop in and talk to the lactation specialist or do a weigh and feed whenever I needed to.

My only experience with nursing at Disney was seeing a woman nursing her child in one of the stores along main street. I was never coordinated enough to stand and nurse, more less walk around browsing. I was totally impressed...

We got back from our trip on Monday and had a great time. We nursed on the People mover, it's a small world, Finding Nemo, During Festival of the Lion King and in various spots on bences in the parks. I saw several other nursing moms there as well. It was a great experience!

I had a similar situation last year at the parks with my parents and BIL. It's a good time to ask the in-laws to take your other kids away for a few minutes. You get to rest while they take the kids on one more trip on the Dumbos or feed them a snack in the snackshop three doors down. That's why they're there!

People Mover is probably my favorite place to nurse in MK! I ask to just keep going around and around and around....

It really helps when they're still little enough to not try gymnastics while nursing!

just got back from a trip and my 10 month old nurses about every 4 hours so i got to try out lots of different spots! I used MK, EP, and HS baby care centers and they were all clean, comfortable and nice and cold!
I would say that overall nursing is not bothersome to people in DW. If anyone gave me a second glance, I sure didnt notice it. I do use a nursing cover so there werent any peep shows going on, but still, no stares or bad looks.
I even had to nurse standing up outside the rose and crown because it was time and our table was going to be called and it just had to be done! But no one seemed to mind! I nursed in the lobby of Via Napoli (it was raining out, or i probably would have stepped outside), and on a bench in the America pavilion in Epcot. The only negative encounter I had was surprisingly with a CM who didn't seem to be a nursing fan and who very sharply "reminded" me that there are baby centers in the park. Well, this was at the nemo and friends aquarium and the center is over in mexico and i just didnt see making that long trip when i was perfectly covered and tucked away in a corner. Oh well, other than that, everyone seemed perfectly at ease and cool with it. A very positive experience for me! I now know that you can survive easily in DW with a nursing child!

Nurse that boy! I went when DS was 14 mts and had no problem nursing. At that age I nursed on rides or in dark shows, because they are usually pretty fast at nursing by then, and getting satisfied quickly. Do not have any worries about nursing an older baby. Good for your for still nursing, and giving the best to your son. Have a great trip
