I ordered the mini castle cake! It was so easy...I called the GF private dining line. The lady said they could write Happy Birthday on the plate. Now I can't wait to see it in person. DD will be so surprised!! I ordered the chocolate one with dark chocolate mousse filling. Gee I hope DD will share with me!! :rolleyes1

Where is the best place to order a very unique cake? I want to make sure it is unique not a edible transfer or flowers with sprinkles.

This is where we will be eating.

Crystal Palace but it is breakfast
Sci Fi
WCC
1900 Park Fare
Chefs de France
Coral Reef

we will be staying at the Yacht Club so would Boardwalk Bakery be the best?

I would do the 1900 and get the GF Bakery to do it...

I am super not happy right now...according to Raglan Road...they will not accept cakes in there from other places on Disney Property because they are worried about the sanitation guidelines that they have versus what other restaurants/bakeries may use...:headache: WTH??? So I cannot order a cake but through them and the one they have is not what I want...

Do you have any suggestions?? I can order a cake later from the Poly - and have it at Kona's or Ohana's maybe....but wanted it at the restaurant I would not have any dessert at....

I'd get the YC bakery to do it. Some of the best cakes I've seen in the past few months have come from the YC/BC bakery. The GF Bakery can do some really nice cakes too, but everyone seems to be having so much trouble getting what they want from them lately.

This is the entire reason I wasn't ever interested in a full out cake while at WDW.

Don't get me wrong, the cakes are beautiful and I'm sure quite yummy...but there are SO many outstanding choices for desserts at all the various WDW restaurants I don't want to limit my dessert choice to cake.

We celebrated ds' 2nd birthday at WDW last year and just had him get the free cupcake at each of our character meals. They made a fuss over him, put a candle in a cupcake and he got Happy Birthday sung to him at four different restaurants (Chef Mickey's, 1900 Park Fare, Hollywood & Vine and Crystal Palace).

The cupcake was MORE than enough for ds and it was just right for celebrating his special day...four times during our trip! ;)

In July, dd and I took a girls only trip for her 7th birthday. I did end up ordering the mini castle cake during our dinner at 1900 Park Fare as well as the chocolate slipper dessert during our early breakfast at CRT.

At Park Fare, the cake was the perfect sized for dd, MIL, and I to each have a taste and then have a sampling of the dessert portion of the buffet. We did end up taking about 1/2 the cake as well as the castle back to the resort that night and noshed on it for breakfast one morning while waiting for rope drop at DHS!

At CRT, dd loved the slipper dessert and since it was the morning of her birthday it was okay for her to have that instead of the preplated breakfast provided!

I can't imagine having had ordered a full out cake (as gorgeous as they are) and then finding out the restaurant we are at has a creme brulee special the night we are dining there! :scared1:

FWIW... I had a HORRIBLE time w/ the person who took our order for the mini castle cake when I called about a week before our trip.

She tried to steer me towards a generic cake and when I insisted I knew exactly what I wanted she sighed and put me on hold for 3-4 minutes before coming back and taking my order. She was about to hang up on me when I reminded her that this was for my dd's birthday and I wanted the dessert personalized for her and I was told that it would be impossible to write anything on the cake. When I shared that I had seen photos where they wrote on the plate I got another sigh and she took the info after explaining to me that she couldn't promise that they would "have room for it on the plate."

It was definitely a less than magical phone conversation.

Hi, The above link is the kinda cake I want at 1900PF Dinner. It'll be just the 2 of us but I'll eat leftover cake later. Have a moderate resort so can store in Fridge.

Post 19, Cake 18C

Except I want Choc Frosting, Choc Filling and Choc Cake.
I also want if possible stand up edible Choc decoration to be a pic of Walt.
I want the edible flowers and Mickey confetti.
Not sure what message would say.

Can I get the stand up decoration if on frosting or does it have to be on fondant? Also has anyone tried to order Walt imagery?

Ordering in a couple weeks, just want to iron out any kinks in my plan. Also ordering Castle Cake for my Mum and I for 1900PF B'fast. Aswell as a Choc slipper at CRT - just deciding whether or not that will be for B'Fast or Dinner. Any ideas?

Thanks

We had a stand-up decoration on buttercream frosting...

Now how come I didn't think to just have something delivered to SSR for us? Boy am I glad for that question because that solves my delima of where to have it.

I called the hotline yesterday, left a message & someone returned the call very promptly! However, she told me that they do NOT deliver cakes to the rooms at SSR. bummer!! I wanted it there as we would be coming back from the parks the first night. Oh well. I don't know if I'm going to bother with it or not. I'd have to pick it up at Artists' Palette. Kind of ruins the "magic" of finding it in the room. The lady was very nice & informative. I was thinking of a Mickey Christmas theme. She told me that the 8 inch cakes cannot be theme decorated. Thought I'd pass the info along.

Sorry to hear that but thank you for sharing the info!

no idea but I am sure they could....it is just a big white chocolate castle on top. I will be sure to take LOTS of pics!!

Yes they could IMO. I got one for DMIL (pics back on this thread and on my TR) and she shared with DS4 and DH (her DS) as well as ate hers. Now I guess I should add that my DH would have eaten the entire thing himself and not shared with anyone! :rotfl2: so it really depends. My boys (1 and 4 at the time) would have split one and Mommy would have gotten some no problem!:goodvibes

Thanks to both of you for answering my question :)

Well I changed my ressie from Chef Mickey to WCC per my ds's request. I did however, before he requested, call Chef Mickey and they said I could bring in a cake with me from other Disney properties. I thought that was nice since many restaurants do not let you bring in out side food. When I called WCC they were very nice about my ds's request for an all orange cake. I stressed to the lady that it did not matter if the writing was hard to see being orange on orange and he did not care about a lot of decoration. He just wants the cake to be all orange color. She quoted me a price of $45 and it will be a 10" round cake.

Hi everyone

I am a newbie to this thread.

I will be taking my mum and bro to WDW next week. It will be their first trip, and id like to make it special by ordering a cake.

There are only 3 of us, so what size should i order?

Im from the UK, and cakes are quite different here. We dont really do the whippy icing that you have on cakes. Is this called frosting?

Inside our cakes we usually have rapsberry jam. I think you might called it jelly? Is that right?

Basically id like a cake with white frosting and rasberry jam/jelly inside. If possible id like 1st visit, either on the cake or on the cake plate/board.

Decoration wise, i am really not bothered. A plain white cake with coloured sprinkles is fine for me, or even flowers. I dont like the printed images.

Id probably like it during our CP or CM dinner ressies.

Are my requests possible?

I ordered the slipper dessert from the cake hotline today for our lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe. I was quoted $15 for the slipper and $30 for the mini castle cake. I had seen a few different prices listed for these so I thought I would share what I had been told.

I just ordered a mini castle cake for our afternoon tea at GF but am thinking of changing it to a 6" cake (the cheapskate in me hates paying more for a smaller cake!). This is a great thread but I don't have time to read the whole thing before we leave! Does anyone have pictures of 6" cakes they got at GF? Am I correct that you can't personalize cakes that small? I'd so appreciate any help, I can't believe our trip is finally coming up!!

My kids will be celebrating their birthdays in less than 2 weeks at WDW. I've left a message on the hotline so that I can order the slipper dessert for CRT for my daughter.

We've got reservations for Tusker House for breakfast on my son's birthday. Do they do a free cupcake?? Who all does them? Do I just tell them at check in??

Thanks!

Help me! Please.

My son's 8 bday will be celebrated over our vacation at WDW. We have ressies for Kona and Le Cellier for dinner and Donalds Safari breakfast on another day. Which of these places have cakes. I have not seen any posts for cakes at these places. Does anyone have any information on the cakes they have here? Or what they offer?

Thank you

Hi there! Great thread!
I'm having a problem deciding what to get. I am taking my neices, 8 & 16 and want to get something special for our lunch at CRT but can't decide b/w the glass slipper and the mini castle cake. i know neither are very big but we're on the dining plan so we'll already have dessert, it's just for something special. Any opinions? Thanks!

Dd and I had both during her July birthday trip (7yo) and I thought both were great w/ a small nod to the glass slipper. You could easily share it and finish it while the mini castle cake is a bit more significant food wise and you may end up with leftovers to haul around the park (we met MIL for dinner at 1900 Park Fare the night w/ the mini castle cake and we couldn't finish it).

Going to try to share a picture of the cake we got at CRT. It was chocolate, with chocolate filling. Very tasty - very BIG. It cost $75 for the cake (cake + the topper) and then an 18% gratuity for them to bring it to the table. But it was our twins 5th birthday - so we went for it. Cake was bigger than we could imagine, and more than we could eat though.
