IS there a picture and a price for this cake somewhere..I have looked but can't find it.

Here you go!

The mini-wedding cakes with the white chocolate Castle on top are made by the GF bakery in bulk.

They come in 3 flavors and the flavors cannot be personaized. The flavors are:

- chocolate cake with dark chocolate mousse
- yellow cake with white chocolate mousse
- cheesecake

They are meant to feed one person but can be shared by 2 after a big meal.

They are $25 and can be ordered at the GF for a meal at the GF or as a guest of the GF, to be delivered to your room.

I'm having a bit of a conundrum here. I was wanting to order a surpise birthday cake for my DH. We will be there over his birthday, and I was planning on ordering a cake to have delivered to my room for our return that evening. We are staying at CBR, which is like the only hotel that doesn't do cakes. So I called Boardwalk Bakery, and was told I could have a runner sent over from the hotel to get it, which I was fine with. Here is where I ran into a problem: I wanted to order an 8 inch cake with a picture of Donald Duck on it. She told me "no, we don't personalize on anything less than 10 inches". :confused3 I told her I had seen many occasions where there were personalized 8 inch cakes, and she kept saying no, no way. She also told me that you can not get a picture on any cake anywhere in the resort on a cake less than 10 inches. I know this isn't true! I have seen tons of pics of 8 inch cakes w/ pictures and personalization on this board. What do I do? Should I try and call a different bakery? Should I just try and get a special thing for DH at Cinderella's royal table where we are dining that night and do that instead? I'm really annoyed b/c she was so unhelpful and discouraging. Is it possible to order a cake from GF's bakery and have my mil pick it up? Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated!

As promised many pages back, I talked to the Chef at POP and this is what I got. Mickey Head cake that they will personalize. I could pay now or by room charge at time of delivery. It can be delivered to the room, but someone needs to be in the room for delivery. I can also pick it up at Everything POP. The cost will be $48 plus tax. I had choice of chocolate or vanilla cake.

I know that when I have ordered Birthday cakes at the Yachtsman Steakhouse- it is true that only 10" cakes can be personalized.

Good luck.:wizard:

After reading everyones reply to my post about Boardwalk bakery im soooooo confused about what to do:confused: . The fact that someone requested a Mickey cake & was given a standard cake makes me very panicky, if that happened to us i would go mad

I liked the idea of going to pick up our cake which is why Boardwalk Bakery appealed to me but am no longer so sure its a good idea.

The only other option would be using Polys bakery which i ve got no clue what there cakes are like. I know G.Fs is suppose to make amazing cakes but we re not eating there till our second from last day making this not an option. The other places we have got adrs in are mostly in parks making it tricky to carry a cake a round. :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Can anyone advise me on what the Polys bakery is like???

I presume we re gonna have to order a 10" even though there is only 2 of us in order to get a custom made cake with Bambi on it.

If anyones got any advice for a panicky Disney bride to be whos clueless about cakes id greatly appreciate it:cutie:

Can you order the cake and have it delivered to your Resort? Depending on where you are staying ?

no, i was under the impression that they would only custom the 10 inch and they would only write Happy Bday (insert name) on the 8 inch or larger.
but when i called today to order my cake the lasy on the phone said there are different ways to get cakes. a 6inch that is frozen, they wont custom, but a fresh 6inch they can do anything you want. or willing to pay for:rotfl:

So who has done that? We keep getting told that it has to be 10" or larger...
just more inconsistency and confusion:rotfl:

I think just like everything else at Disney things are changing constantly and vary by resort.

I know the 8 that I've had at the Yachtsman over the last 2 years and when I called Boardwalk Bakery for 1 in January - the told me the only cake I could customize was a 10".

This is just from my past experience.

I ordered an 8" cake with a personal message on it thru the GF bakery. It is the white chocolate and milk chocolate marble fondant. The filling could not be custom. Just the choice of vanilla cake with white chocolate mouse or chocolate cake and chocolate mouse filling. But I could have any message I wanted on it. It was $32. ;)

The GF bakery will not deliver it anywhere outside of their property.(rooms or restaurants) And they do not allow pick ups either. :(

This is all I am pointing out. It has been like this for years, which is fine :)
Different stories from different CMs

I got the same thing with the AP codes that came out today. 3 different CMs and 3 very different responses.

I am hoping to order some sort of cake for my son's bday Oct/Nov trip with just me and him and then another for a 16th anniversary for me and my hubby when we visit in Dec.
I just know I don't want a Sara Lee cake for $21 when I can get a similar tasting one from them in my grocer's freezer for much cheaper;)

I say this sadly, but I think maybe they just don't really want to be in the business of custom cake making for the masses. The answers not only vary from one castmember to the next...but also from one day to the next.

I saw an adorable girls cake on here and called to inquire about getting one for my daughter, and here's the gist of the conversation:

me: Hello, I would like to see about ordering a custom b-day cake for my daughter.
them: sorry, we don't do custom birthday cakes.
me: oh, I'm sorry, I must have old information.
them: you can have a choc or white cake with choc or white frosting and it's extra for a picture. Which do you want?
me:I am so sorry, I thought you were able to do fondant topped cakes with chocolate statuettes and trim accents...I am sorry to have wasted your time. (ready to hang up)
them: OH, you want an anniversary cake then. The fondant ones are usually ordered for wedding anniversaries, we can do that for you. We just don't do custom b-day cakes. It is $85 for an 8 inch of what you want.
me: ok, great, what do I need to do to order?
them: Oh, you still want it?

HUH??? You will make me an anniversary cake for a b-day but you couldn't have told me that when I asked for it the first time around? I think I was supposed to be scared off by the price. But a little girl only goes to Disney for one 3rd birthday..I want the special cake for her.

My cake is a couple weeks away ....we'll see what I get :)

Also: don't even bother to ask for custom flavors at most of the restaurants. I wanted a carrot cake for LTT and it turned into a disaster. I called and they said yes "let me call you back with a price" but then no call back.
When I called again they told me no. Then my TA called and they told her no, then maybe now it's "yes, but...." She literally called 10+ times and got 4 different answers. They really just don't do custom cakes, but they are going to try for something because of all the confusion. (if they had never said yes the first time I would have stopped there.) Neither of us thinks that cake will appear, even the restaurant manager was not sure he would have it there.
I swear my TA spent 2 months trying to get this cake for my son, I feel terrible for all her wasted hard work. We (TA and I) are both over it...if the cake shows, Good, if not..whatever!!! She was awesome to keep trying!!! THANKS K!!! i know my ta reads here!!!

The ridiculous thing is the Main St Bakery sells carrot cake that is amazing, but somehow that cake can not get to LTT, all of 100 steps away.

Keep trying, but understand [it seems like] they don't really want to be a bakery business, and that shows. Too bad because they have some amazing pastry artists working for them!!!

Sounds like you will be at Pop the same time we will. We leave on Friday August 22nd and will arrive on the 24th at Pop. I didn't know that Pop did cakes but we wanted ours at a dinner not in our room. We figure if there are leftovers we will give them to the waitstaff.

Have fun in Disney.

Very interesting reading all of these posts...
I ordered this suprise cake for my Anniversary this September at Narcoossees:
  • 8 Inch Anniversary Cake
  • Chocolate with Strawberry Mousse Filling
  • Covered in White Fondant
  • Stamped with Silver Mickey's Delight Pattern
  • Topped with the White Chocolate Mickey and Minnie
  • AND personalized for my husband to say "3 Magical Years..."
Total Cost $70, and no problems thus far.
If it helps any, the woman who called me back was Linda and she was awesome!

We will be leaving on the 23 and driving from Michigan. Maybe we will bump into each other.

We got my birthday cake from Boardwalk Bakery in May. 10" (only size they will truly personalize) marble cake with chocolate mousse filling. Donald Duck and the castle was the image on top, plus happy birthday and my name was written on it. It was a beautiful cake, albeit way too expensive (over $50 once they figured in tax, etc.). Helpful that we could pick it up from them.

The main downside was it went bad on the third day. We couldn't fit it in the fridge in our WL room, so we kept it in the box on the table and kept the AC turned up high. It was very cool in the room. But by day 3 it smelled and tasted terrible. I personally only got to eat 1 piece of cake before it went bad. It was really disappointing. I'm guessing that wouldn't have happened if we could've fit it in the fridge. If I ever get another cake from them, I think I'll stick to the Mickey head/face cakes. We got the mini ones, and they were delicious.

I think Tinker*Shell*Belle has it nailed. They are really not interested or motivated to do any custom cakes that are not attached to a wedding or anniversary.

Seems like most of the birthday cakes lately have gotten farmed out to the Sara Lee type.

I have seen some amazing pictures of cakes posted here, but lately I think Disney just does not want to bother. I find that sad.

From what I understand, Disney is moving away from the custom cakes for guests. I think it's sad too, Disney has a lot of wonderful bakeries across property.
