Does anyone know if you can buy (cash and carry) the mini castle cake at the Boardwalk Bakery? Or if you order a cake to be delivered to your room (we're staying at POFQ) do you give them a time to deliver or do they let themselves in if you are not there? I would love to do something special for my dd while we are there but just not sure what. Thanks for any info.

Does anyone know if I can order a cake for our Wishes cruise ( WL) I would like to order a Cake and Champagne but don't know if this is possible

When you book the Wishes Cruise, ask for private dining and they will be able to help you. Good luck!
Although I ordered a cake with the Mickey & Minnie white chocolate topper, we received this:

8" vanilla cake w/ vanilla mousse and white & milk chocolate marble fondant

I believe the Mini Castle cake can only be gotten if you are staying at GF or if you eat at a GF restaurant, no cash and carry from boardwalk. One poster a few pages back tried to get it at BW and they said they could do it, but delivered a completely different cake than the Mini castle cake

OMG I would be flaming pissed about that! Especially given the fact that you can still see the other princesses in the picture. That looks terrible for the money you would have spent. Argh I'm so sorry. What did they say when you complained about that not being what you ordered?
Believe it or not, I didn't complain. I didn't see any point to it. I might have gotten the cake for free, but I also would have upset my mom and my DD in the process. They couldn't have given me what I wanted at that point. Our entire meal was somewhat of a bust that day, unfortunately. We had the worst server in all of Disney World, didn't care for the food choices on the lunch buffet they added during the free dining period, and then our cake wasn't what we were expecting. Our server brought it out while we were eating our salad, with no plates or knife to cut it. After we finished our meals I grabbed plates off the dessert buffet and we used a butter knife to cut the cake. That's about when our server arrived with a cake knife and plates.

As for CM's not making the type of cake I requested, obviously they don't. I know that now, LOL. The woman I spoke with on the phone even put me on hold to ask about the special order, came back and assured me they could make it just as I wanted it. The only thing they couldn't do was the strawberries and custard filling so I agreed to the vanilla filling instead. She either completely misunderstood what I wanted or didn't know what they were and were not capable of making. The price she quoted me was not the price I was charged either. She quoted me $40+ which would have been in line with what I paid at the GF the year before. I was charged much less though now I don't remember the exact price, I think it might have been around $30. Prices have gone up since then, but I think what they charged me at the time was just for the cake and not even extra for the image on top.

I just wish they would have called me when they realized they couldn't do what I wanted. I left a phone number with instructions to call in just that event, but they didn't. :sad2:

Hi everyone, we celebrated my mom's birthday this past trip in July, we stayed at AKL and she wanted to have a relaxing day by the pool, and dinner at Boma. I decided to have a cake made for her, so I went with the zebra dom cake here is a pic of it.

The cake was ok, not as moist as I thought it would be. but the filling was excellent!!! it was like a big Zebra Dom (spelling?)

Oh Tracey I'm so sorry the whole evening was a bust for you guys. I understand not saying anything with your mom and daughter there. But that totally sucks that your server was crappy too. I totally agree with you that they should have called you if they couldn't do what they said they could. I'm glad they didn't charge you for the image but still, they should have given you the option to cancel or change it if they couldn't make what they agreed to.

I'll probably call on Friday to double check our cake. I want to make sure it is what I ordered. I'm not doing anything custom or anything, but I want to make sure I get the marble fondant and not just a regular buttercream cake.I wish we could have gotten our 1900PF ressies earlier in the week so we would have more time to munch on our cake. I keep calling but nothing is opening up yet.

I was thinking of doing something like this for my DD when we are there in December. Do you mind saying about how much you paid for that??

Also, I think I remember reading in this thread (just read all 46 pages in one day) that the filling has alcohol in it. Is that true? Obviously that won't work for a 10 year old but I thought this cake would work well since we are staying at AKL.

Well heres my cake I had sent to my room at AKL. And heres a story to go along with it. Moral of the story - check, re-check, double, triple, quadruple check your cake orders!!!!

We checked in at 8am and went to DTD. Came back at 3pm, got our room and relaxed. We were supposed to go to Boma at 5pm, but DH got VERY sick from being very dehrated so we had to cancel. Lucky for us we had another Boma ADR later on in the vacation for dinner. So in-room dining calls at 5pm and see if its OK to be delivered now and that my credit card was declined. I said yes bring it up and told them I knew it would be declined because I had to spend the $30 I had on there on something else. I knew that if it was declined and we had went to Boma they would have just charged it to the room, which was OK. Well I was a little upset because I wanted to be a complete surprise for DH. I wanted them to deliver it while we were at dinner. But since he got sick that ruined the surprise some-what. I mean it was still a surprise, just didnt happen the way I wanted to happen.

Anyways, 5 mins later I get a knock on the door and its in-room dining. I start to give the guy the money and happen to look at the cake. It said HAPPY BIRTHDAY Teresa & Steven! :scared1: I was like it supposed to say happy 4th anniversary NOT happy birthday! The guy went on and said well according to the card it says happy birthday. And I was like well, it SUPPOSED to say happy 4th anniversary! So he said he would be back with a new cake in 20 mins. About 30 mins later, he shows back up with another cake that does say happy anniversary, but they COMPLETELY left off the 4th AND mispelled happy anniversary. And they still expected me to pay! :sad2: So I gave the money, he asked if he wanted to take it in for me, and I said NO, I'll do it myself, grabbed the cake and went back into the room. Not a good way to start off a vacation IMHO. Anyways, heres the pic. It was very moist and very good, I just wish they had done it right to begin with. Or at least gave it to me for free for them screwing it up. What would have happened if we had went to Boma and came back and saw a cake that says happy birthday? I told DH what happened and asked him that and he said he would have a good laugh about it. Me, I wouldnt be laughing. I would be upset. Maybe it was a good thing we didnt go to Boma afterall.

Quick need advice and help!
I am allergic to all dairy and eggs, and I wanted to order a cake with Davy Jones from POTC on it for my boyfriend for our upcoming trip because we are celebrating his graduation from college, his new job, and his birthday- but when I called to see if I could get one at LeCellier for our first night at WDW, they told me that for special diet cakes they can't decorate them at all! I asked if this is policy all over WDW and they told me yes!!! Is this true? Is it possible to order a decorative cookie or chocolate seperate??? I'm so disappointed!
Anyone have this same experience??

I called to inquire about getting a cake for my mom for her birthday, just relaying the information I got (regarding Crystal Palace):

6" - $21 No customization. Vanilla or Chocolate.
8" - $32 No customization. Vanilla or Chocolate.
10" - $75 Customized, vanilla, choc or marble.

I really want to get her a Captain Jack Sparrow cake (she :lovestruc Johnny), but honestly.. paying $75 for something I'll get one slice of scares me. :scared:

Such mixed reviews on here...I'll definitely be QUADRUPLE confirming my order! I will not hesitate sending the cake back if I get to the restraunt and it's not what I want! :thumbsup2

Does anyone think the restraunt would let me take a look at it somehow before they bring it out?:confused3

From my understanding and own personal experience what you get and how decorative it is depends on where you purchase the cake. We ordered my FIL a cake last October and I was hoping, and asked. for some sort of camping decorations. I got a very nice cake but it just had the writing and some flowers on it - no camping theme. The WL bakery just isn't set up (I guess) to do much decorating. Le Cellier might be like that are be very limited with what they can do.

Since you have allergies I would call the Boardwalk bakery and see about getting a cake done there. Granted you'd have to go to the bakery to get the cake but since it is on the Boardwalk you can get there from the International Gateway at Epcot. Maybe take in a meal at the ESPN Club at the same time.

Good luck.

I'm sorry but to me that is unacceptable. I can see being upset with cakes having images versus standups, or not having the exact image that you wanted or not being decorated like how you wanted or were told (I was even told that my FIL's cake would be decorated in a "camping" theme but it ended up just having some writing on it and some flowers - not what I really wanted) but to get the wrong writing and then to have it redone and be misspelled.... not acceptable. I'd be sending a picture of that cake to the AKL In-Room dining folks along with a nice letter asking them to proof-read their cakes before they leave the bakery.

You wanna know what the worst part of it? The guy who delivered it gave me an attitude about it. He acted like he was annoyed because I wouldnt accept the cake that I DIDNT order. I should have told him dont get annoyed with me. Its not my fault the bakery cant do a simple cake right.

I really wanted to try to make this work and couldn't stop thinking about it until I got some sort of results,,,so I called around to a couple different restaurants we have reservations with to see if I could get something more to my original plan, and ended up ordering an 8 inch non-dairy, non-egg, chocolate cake for dessert at Cali Grill, and they are going to write 'Congratulations Tyler' on it! They said they don't do character screens for cakes under 10 inches...and I thought about it, but we really don't need a 10 inch cake between the two of us! So I'll have to think of some other way to incorporate Pirates of the Caribbean into the trip! I then called LeCellier back and canceled the original order there!

You could always go to the toy store and get the PVC pirate figures and add those to the cake or around the cake to have the theme. Just a thought. Have a great time!

ooh Good idea Tink!! I also have allergies, I can't say where my next order is but I have done Boma and Chef TJ is great.

Also for those with allergies, off site is Sweet tooth vegan goodies, I don't know if she'll deliver but my last cake with them was delicious!
