If I call AKL directly and order my cake to be room delivered, how far in advance do they need to know? The same 48 hrs as restaurant delivery?

I have seen lots of pictures of the Cinderella slipper dessert from CRT. But I haven't actually hear what it is underneath the slipper? Anyone? Also, can you request what kind of chocolate? I HATE dark chocolate, so I would love one in white or milk but want to make sure I get to request that. Thanks!

Actually, they've always come in white chocolate and have only recently been seen in dark chocolate. So yes, you can request white chocolate.

At CRT it comes on top of angel food cake.

Under is like an angel food cake - it was DHs fav cake of our trip. You can request it but as they say "There is no guarantee". I ordered the slipper at CRT for 6/27/08 and specifically said I did NOT want dark chocolate and this is what I ended up with

I  this cake! Too cute!!!!

We're having a "Disney meeting" tonight with our friends so once we know if they're going for sure or not, I'll have to order them something special too!! I'd like something sent to their room (not sure where they'll be staying yet) but it's just the two of them so probably not a cake-something a little more fancy/romantic for them. Suggestions???

Am planning on ordering cake as a surprise for DH b'day and having it delivered to our room at GF. To get a custom cake I guess we might have to make it 8" but this seems like a lot! We are there for 2 weeks, with a fridge, so don't mind snacking on it until it's gone but am concerned about how long it might keep? Does anyone have any advice?
Also, slightly OT, on our previous trip to the GF our fridge seemed to be too cold and froze the leftover pizza :sad2: Will post a question about this on the GF board but advice on this would be welcome too!:scratchin

I know I had read about a price increase in the 6 in. cake. I just wanted to let you know I just called to confirm my cake order for this weekend. The 10 in. cake was 40.00 and is now 45.00. Not much of an increase.

I just ordered an 8" personalized cake with edible screen print and the total was $42, ($32 for the 8" cake and extra $10 for print and personalized writing).

Lots of people like the chocolate-covered tuxedo strawberries. They also have other kinds of edible gift baskets available through the Walt Disney World Florist: http://www.disneyflorist.com/

We had tons of leftover wedding cake on our 12-day honeymoon. The cut pieces got pretty dried out and bland after a few days in the fridge. The topper, which was covered in fondant, stayed fresh a lot longer, but of course as we cut into it, the cut sides dried out. Maybe we should have covered them in plastic wrap...

I'd see if you could get ahold of someone who would be willing to make a 6-inch cake for you instead, like the poster a few pages back - that's what I'm going to try for our anniversary! :thumbsup2

I have been wondering what the "big increase" was going to be! I made sure to get my cake orders in last week before the prices went (way) up. Nobody likes to see a price increase, but I don't think the new prices will be a deal-breaker for most people. Thanks for posting the new prices!

I ordered my cake on the 7th.....before the price increase. I called today to confirm my order and was told that the price had gone up, so you may want to call about yours.

I know policy varies by location (for example, Boma wouldn't take my order this early--said to call one week out) but the two places I ordered from (the Wave and GF Cafe) told me that I was locked in the with the price. The Wave order was written on a receipt and the GF Cafe "put the order w/ price" into the computer". Let's hope!

i wish i knew about the price increase beforehand...then i would have made my ADR earlier! i made an ADR for Garden Grill, and a 6 in. cake was hiked up to $21!!!!:headache:

Can you get extra plates and forks from the counterservice in your resort (Mara in my case at AKL) or from in-room dining? Or should we just bring our own plastic forks and plates?

I have never had any trouble asking for extra plates & forks...just explain your situation if they question why you need them....you should be set!

I'm sure this question has been asked before, so please forgive my ignorance:confused3 ....do I still call the "cake hotline" to order the slipper dessert at CRT, & is there something special that is alittle my "boyish" for my son, like a mickey dome or the little boat I saw in some pictures. Thanks for your patience and information.:lovestruc

The only thing I saw that was boyish was dog bone eclairs. I've never see a little boat.

and I've only seen the dog bones offered at GF, not CRT.

I would call the CRT and see if they have anything to offer boys.

When I called CRT last week via the 800 number I was told the slipper was it. I do know that at 1900 there is the slipper for girls and the bones for boys. I went with this. Now the kids get a surprise after breakfast.
I was going to post when I found out what POP said about cake delivered to the room. I am still playing phone tag with them and have not gotten a confirmation.

I know this is probably a dumb questions but are the cakes that are being done or going to be done by Sarah Lee just those standard ones you can order at the podium? They will still make the other cakes right? They are just raising the prices?
I hate to assume anything. You know what that does. ;)
