What about Minnie and Mickey?
We're doing a family trip in Jan days before my twins turn 5. We're going to celebrate it down there so the gp can be there.

Anyway, I'm a little torn about what cake to order (if any). They are twins, so of course they're used to sharing a b-day. BUT it is very difficult to find a "theme" they both like. DD is very much the disney princess. DS is more into pirates, buzz, and the like. Two cakes is out of the question.

Has anyone seen or heard of any dual theme cakes like a Princess/Pirate cake or some more gender neutral ones? They did Nemo for their 3rd b-day, but that might be an option at Coral Reef.

Does anyone have a picture of a Nemo cake?

Any other suggestions?

TIA,
Heather

Has anyone ever had a cake delivered to the Sci-Fi diner? What type of cake was it?

She didn't say anything to me about the tip just plus tax.

I have a question for you if you don't mind. I just ordered a cake from there and they gave me only about four options for my cake. I really wanted red velvet. Did you get many options?

If it's a custom order cake there are plenty of options, you just have to ask and will probably have to pay more.
That's why mine is the price that it is.
It's a chocolate cake with Strawberry mousse filling...not something that's ordered every day! :thumbsup2

Maybe Chip and Dale? or Minnie and Mickey? What about Jessie and Woody? Just a couple thoughts! Good luck!

Can someone post their pics of the GF Anniversary cake please?

We had a custom cake made at 1900 Park Fare back in May. It was an 8" chocolate with white chocolate mouse filling and BC icing. the design was wrong, but the cake tasted wonderful.

Also, not every bakery makes every flavor. I would be willing to bet that only the Grand Floridian bakery makes red velvet cake, although I'd be happy to learn otherwise! :goodvibes

At any rate, you won't be missing much - the GF bakery made our red velvet wedding cake, and it was pretty flavorless...

Has anyone ever ordered a cake or chocolate-covered strawberries at CSR to be delivered to your room? Was considering this for our 1-year trip in October and just wanted to hear your experiences.... thanks!

Did you find out the answer to this question as I am interested in the same thing? Thank you.

Okay I just got off of the phone with the Coral Reef and 'Ohana's about ordering a cake and was told at both places that the 6" cake is only available in vanilla...:confused3 Is this something new because they are Sara Lee now, I know before the choices were chocolate or vanilla?? It seems like every day the choices get smaller and smaller....

Hmm, well, the Sara Lee cakes are the ones that you don't order in advance - you just ask for them when you check in - plus Epcot and the Poly have their own bakeries, so they wouldn't be serving the Sara Lee cakes anyway.

Did they know you wanted a customized 6-inch cake, or were they telling you to get one at the podium and that it could only be vanilla?

Maybe now they only offer the customized, pre-ordered ones in vanilla but the podium ones still come in chocolate or vanilla? Such a mystery!

Glad you told me that. It is a GF bakery. It's Narcossee's. I won't push the issue then. When I get there, I'll go over to GF and double check my order because now I'm not even sure what I ordered. I love the cake with the white chocalate Mickey Mouse and castle but I just want the castle. I'll show them the pic.

Has anyone ordered a cake through the Poly bakery lately? I'm just wondering what options you were offered for cake flavors and fillings. Were you able to do a custard or mousse filling with fruit or was it just frosting filling?

I'd really like to know so I can plan for whether or not I'm going to order a cake. I'm still over a month away from our trip.

Also, does private dining at the Poly still deliver the cake to your room (after you've checked in of course)?

I asked what cakes were availabe at both places and both said I could get a 6" vanilla that I could ask for at the podium or order it now but it could not be customized. Then they gave the other options of the 8" or 10" that would give me the choice of fillings and cake and that those could be customized. The only good thing is that I didnt get different answers from the places, they both gave me the same info. Anyways I endend up ordering a 6" vanilla for the coral reef, we will see what happens.

you cannot use the DDE card though on holidays correct? I wanted to order the cake for ds whose bday is on thanksgiving. Im wondering if it will be worth it to buy the fla one for our 5 day trip or not since we cannot use it for our meal that day.. :confused3

Hello.. I'm new to the boards and am looking for the thread that has all the pictures of the different cakes as we are going to be going to WDW for my boys birthdays in April. We will actually be getting there on my youngests 2nd birthday.

Thank you in advance for your help. :)

Here's a picture of our fantastic cake from the California Grill on Friday night. It was EXACTLY what I wanted!

It was chocolate/chocolate and sooo yummy. Layers with yummy chocolate between...wish I had some now!
bdcake4.jpg

And here's DH with a big happy smile! He loved the cake.
bdcake2.jpg

Here's the 2 of us. A nice family got in on the act and offered to take some pictures.

The cake was huge! That's the 10 inch cake. The cost at the California Grill was $45.00, but definitely worth it. We had so much left over we took it with us on Sunday night for our Wishes fireworks cruise. We shared with friends on the boat and there was still a ton left over. We gave the rest to Captain Dave!

I think Disney is trying to get away from Personalizing the 6" cakes. Now it seems if you want a small cake for 2-4 people, you're getting the basic Vanilla (or chocolate at some places) Sara Lee cake. If you want to spend more money, ($45+) you can get the 8", choose flavors and fillings, and get images on it.

That cake looks so yummy!! I'm glad you were happy with it! And i'm suprised that you got a 10" for $45!! It's normally an 8" for $45. That was a STEAL!

I am not travelling until December but wanted to get a cake for our last night at Chef Mickeys and want to do the Mickey Head cake. Can anyone tell me about this cake and what they thought? Can it be personalized? Is it striclty chocolate or can I get a filling? Any suggestions? Also, when should I order? Probably not now.... it is too soon but maybe before Thanksgiving? We will be at Chef Mickeys on Friday, December 5.

Thanks in advance! :yay:

$45 is the correct price for a 10 inch. Eight inch cakes are $32. See page 1 of this thread if you want further info. ;)
