Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread Part II

We will be going to Disney for our one year anniversary, and I'm looking to possibly get a small version of the wedding cake that we had last year when we got married. My DH can't stop talking about it! (yeah, it was really really good.) So, I just called the GF bakery line to ask a general question about cake flavors and they directed me to someone named Linda, but when I got her voice mail it said that if you were ordering a cake, to call the line I had just called. sigh.... I left her a message anyways, apologizing if it wasn't the right number but that I had been directed to her. Has anyone talked to Linda at GF?

I was thinking of doing something like this for my DD when we are there in December. Do you mind saying about how much you paid for that??

Also, I think I remember reading in this thread (just read all 46 pages in one day) that the filling has alcohol in it. Is that true? Obviously that won't work for a 10 year old but I thought this cake would work well since we are staying at AKL.

Hi, I paid $70 for the cake, and I felt like I got ripped off. For free Boma makes a special tray of desserts and writes happy birthday to serve at the table and it was much better then the cake IMO. It was nice don't get me wrong but I thought the cake itself would of been moist, the filling was very good.

Such mixed reviews on here...I'll definitely be QUADRUPLE confirming my order! I will not hesitate sending the cake back if I get to the restraunt and it's not what I want! :thumbsup2

Does anyone think the restraunt would let me take a look at it somehow before they bring it out?:confused3

HI, just to let you know I met with the pastry chef 2 days before to confirm what I wanted. even after I met with him I wasn't impressed at all with the cake. All in all everyone that joined us for dinner was impressed. I just expected a little something more then what we got

You could always go to the toy store and get the PVC pirate figures and add those to the cake or around the cake to have the theme. Just a thought. Have a great time!

Excellent IDEA!!!:thumbsup2 that what I will be doing next year for my mom's birthday

I'm not sure I'll order any more cakes at Disney. I have to think hard about it. It just seems there are so many screw ups lately and it's such a hassle to order or even get straight answers from CMs. Most of the cakes don't look as nice as those I can buy from my local grocery store, yet they are more than triple the cost. :sad2:

I think Disney is missing the boat here for sure. There are so many of us willing to pay their outrageous prices as long as we get a really nice, special cake. Yet they seem unwilling to accommodate us. I don't get it.

Incorrectly spelling "anniversary" is totally unacceptable.

I am planning on ordering the mini-castle cake at 1900 Park Fare for our 1-year anniversary trip in October. I want to surprise him with this, but bummer is that my husband is not too big on sweets (I KNOW, RIGHT!?!)..... he will have a piece I know so that's why this size cake will be perfect for the two of us..... but I am a BIG fan of cheesecake and he is not..... i would have LOVED to try the cheesecake mini-castle as I've heard such good reviews on it, but I'm thinking I should probably just get the chocolate because at least he will have some then.... =( I know, selfish me thinkin I should get the cheesecake all to myself! lol I wish there were a way we could split half and half/one side cheesecake, one side chocolate! LOL =)

I think with all the problems that people have been having I will just take her to Main St Bakery and let her pick out some stuff. I know it would be a lot cheaper than getting a cake and probably a lot easier too. We will just get a cake from our fave bakery once we get home.

Hiya! Linda is the one you need to speak to - but be sure you let her know that you got married at WDW so she can pull your BEO to match the cake you got last year. :thumbsup2

Thank you for your help! She actually emailed me a response to my call so I just emailed her back. :goodvibes

My husband and I will be in the world for his 25th birthday. I want to get him a cake.

Any suggestions on a good design to get a 25 year old guy? Also I am reading that the best cakes come from GF? We will be eating at GF Cafe one night. Would that be my best bet for a good cake?

I appreciate any suggestions!!!! :)

I guess I can always walk over there and pick it up sometime during the day??? his bday is on thanksgiving so Im wondering if its not something they will do on a holiday. TIA

Hi, I did also see some cakes in the bakery at the BW, they had cakes that you would normally see in your local bakery. Either way I'm sure it will be a great day for the her:thumbsup2

This has probably been addressed before, but--how is the tipping issue handled on cakes delivered to you at your table service restaurant? I am assuming you are paying an 18-20% tip on the cake that is served to your table. Correct?

Call the Cake Hotline and follow the prompts for the Brown Derby. Ask the person on the other end whether they do this kind of cake. If they say no, call the Boardwalk Bakery and ask them if they do this kind of cake. We're all getting different answers from different restaurants, so the only way to really know what they can do is to call and ask! :thumbsup2

This was a question I was hoping to hear the answer also, anyone know????

Hi - I'm new to cake oredering and a bit confused - hoping someone can help!
I would like to have a cake delivered to our room at the GF for DHs birthday. Do I call the cake hotline or in room dining?

I've noticed that many thread talk about increased prices. Is this everywhere or just specific locations. We are celebrating my DD's 9th B-Day and I'm considerign ordering a small cake at Le Celier for her birthday lunch. I want a small one as there are only 3 of us, and we plan to visit the park for the rest of the day and any leftovers would just get destroyed. Would it be $12.50 or $21.00 I'm not sure its worth $21.00 especially if its just a standard cake that i could get anywhere. We will be having a B-day party before we go.

It's everywhere :sad2: Disney is outsourcing the small (6-inch) cakes to Sara Lee now, and to add insult to injury, they've jacked up the price to $21. (Although I'd always heard mixed reviews of those Disney-made cakes, so maybe the Sara Lee ones are better!)

However, if you have the Disney Dining Experience card, you will get a 20% discount on the price of the cake since you pay for it at the time you pay for the rest of your meal and apply the DDE card.
