Official AUGUST 2008 CODES to be posted here please!!:)

My dates are Aug 9-23. I'm still hoping to get some sort of discount.

Am I correct in assuming that there will not be anymore specials announced or offered until this free dining offer expires on June 22?

Is it possible after June 22 that they'll offer something for early Aug? Has that happened in the past? I know I've seen a page that listed the past offers but I cannot seem to find it anywhere.

I'll be there from the 5th of august till the 12... I'm so hoping for a discount for us, canadian disney lover!!! :goodvibes

Us too..well sort of the 5th thru 13th. Heck I'd be happy with a few nights of discounts on the room if I can't get it for the entire time.

I changed my dates from Aug 21-27 to Aug 24-Sept 2nd, in hopes of getting free dining. I had paid for my 7 day trip in full and when I changed my dates i had a remaining balance of $657, but on April 10th, I called and asked for Free Dining. I now have a credit of $165!! :cool1: :cheer2: What a deal!

Can't wait for August!!

My apologies if my questions have already been answered. It is quite a task to wade through 40 pages on a thread looking for the answer to your question.

I currently have BC booked for Aug 29 - Sept 1, standard room, rack rate. I did not book free dining because I just bought APs and the DDE card.

1. Does anybody know if there are/will be annual passholder rates for this time period?

2. Can I get multiple discounts (AAA rate + AP discount)

3. There is no way to get a bounceback rate later if you didn't book when you were there, right?

1. no one knows for sure but there likely will be something.

2. no multiple discounts but if you already have AAA I usually book with AAA and then change to AP when/if available. That way if AP aren't too good or if they aren't available at my resort of choice or my dates I know I'm not paying rack rates.

3. bounceback has to be booked before you check out.

I believe they were released last year on 6/28.

I realize this is not the place for this, however, every where I looked I only found old posts. I am booked and paid for August 16th-22nd and am wondering how much spending money I should be considering to bring. I have a family of 4, the kids are 8 and 14 both boys, We are all on the deluxe dining Plan (includes all 3 meals/2 snacks per pp per day) I'm thinking about bringing no less than $2,500 for the 7 days we are there. This will pay for tipping, gratuity, soveniers, extra snacks ect. Does anyone think I will need more money than this amount? I want to make sure all bases are covered and we dont feel strapped while there as this will be our first "real" vacation.
Thanks for all the info in advance.

I guess it depends on what you are planning to buy, but for my family that would be more than enough. There is no harm in bringing too much. I just use my debit card for everything. That way I always have exactly enough :thumbsup2

I am almost positive that you won't need extra snacks. You can always book a counter service and order desert with the 3 meals per day and 2 snacks. Are you okay as far as tickets? Do you have the water parks option? You will probably be so busy that you will bring most of that home unless you are a big shopper.

We usually spend around $500 on souvies ($125 per person) and that gets everyone a tee shirt, mickey ears, AND some sort of cup or glass AND the kids a light-up toy at the parade or evening event of their choice. The dining plan gratuity is the only additional add on and even if you spend $100 per day on gratuities, you won't even be close to the $2500. You'll have more than enough. There are ATM machines if you need more.

All my tickets are paid for, however, I did not get the water park option as I didnt think we would need it, we are staying at the contemporary and none of us are big water bugs, I figured if we were going to spend a day at a water park we could do that at home, so I opted out of that option. The only thing I could see us doing possibly if we have a rainy day is disney quest. Which would then come out of pocket. As far as food, tickets, room, flight, I think we are all set! I just wanted to make sure if I saw something that I couldnt possibly pass up that I would have more than enough money to splurge if I wanted to thats all. This trip has cost me an arm and leg, I think my god, I could have put a small down payment on a new house or something, lol! All is paid in full, now Im just saving that good old spending money and was wondering if the 2,500 would be enough. Sounds as if it will be which is wonderful because now with all the other money I can go on a clothes shopping spree for all of us....YEAH!!

That sounds like it would be more than enough! but again that is totally up to you! If you have all your adr's you can go on all ears and get proces to figure out your tips ahead of time and then you can figure that the rest of the $2500 would be for souviners and extra food or drink if needed! Then you should have a good idea if you think you would need more or not! I would be perfectly fine with taking$2500 and probably have money left! We have me , DH, DD 13 and DS 9 ! So maybe this will help you!:thumbsup2

Good for you! Sounds like you're all set. $2,500 wil easily get through!

You mentioned this was your first trip, at the risk of sounding like a know-it-all may I make a suggestion? This saved my budget, but more importantly it saved my sanity.

Disney can make a kid go nuts. There is a gift store on almost every corner, stocked with the most amazing! spectacular! gotta have! toys your kids have ever seen. The easiest way to circumvent the "Can I have this?" (and this! and this! and this!) is to give them their own money for souvies. That way when they ask, you avoid saying no by saying "Sure! you've got your own money!" I've found my daughter is a lot more discriminating with her money then she is with mine! :rotfl:

One meltdown over a stupid toy can really put a kink in an otherwise perfect day. Plus it teaches them some money management skills. The last time we were there my daughter was 9. She had $70 to spend and spent the whole week writing down all the things she wanted. Then on the last day she sat down and narrowed it down to what she could afford. It was great! not one single whine!

Whatever you do enjoy yourself!! Your going to have an awesome time!

I've looked at codes from last summer and it seems they blacked out August 3-4, we will be there from 8/3-8/9 will I still be able to get the discount on the other days without having to do a split stay?

TIA!!

Based upon last year, I think there is a good chance, not definite, that there will be some sort of savings for August.

Here are some threads from last year where savings were discussed. the second really shows some examples of savings.

So can someone tell me what happens if the blackout dates are in the middle of your trip? Let's say that the same blackout dates apply this year, its smack dab in the middle of our trip (Aug 5-12).
Thanks.

I'm a passholder, do the passholder rates come out sooner? I remember last year I booked for September 4th in May!

Late June is just unacceptable, its already past my 45 day mark so they would charge me to add a discount!!

I remember DIS unplugged mentioning this a few weeks back about the May codes, but I believe the passholder discount came out before the general public, so i have my fingers crossed, c'mon may!

Thats a good question because i'm in the same mess. I assume that the blackout dates from last year are because they ran into the weekend?

I'm not an expert on this. However, I seem to remember that Disney now applies rates on a per day basis. I seem to recall some threads, I will post them if I can find them, discussing how they used to apply a rate for your entire trip based on your check-in day. But now they can apply the rates daily. Thus the discount will be given on the days before and after the blackout but not the blackout dates.

Someone will correct me if I'm worng. I will see if I can find confirmation of this.
