I'm not sure how good the discounts were, but I believe that last year discounts for August came out at the end of June.

Can I combine an AP rate (supposing one comes out) with free dining? We will be there August 20 to the 28th...do you think I'd be able to book 4 nights with the AP and the other 4 standard to get the free dining if not?

What would you do?

you will not be able to combine discounts, but you could book the 20th - 23rd with AP rate, then book free dining from 24th - 28th. Youwill need to book a package to get free dining, which means room and tickets. In past years I believe you were able to just book a 1 day base ticket as your ticket portion...you did not need to buy an equal amount of days on your tickets as nights you were booked for. Then most people used the one day base tickets towards their AP renewal, whenever that comes around.

I think we are going to book our trip the same way...8/20 - 8/23 AAA room only discount, then free dining 8/24 - 8/27 with 1 day base tickets. We already have tickets from a previous trip so we'll use the base tickets for another trip.

If free DDP comes out on the 24th of August, that will be right in the middle of my ten day planned trip. Now I know I can (maybe) get the free DDP for the last five days if I split my reservation in two & buy another day of park tickets as well. But here's my question....we want park hoppers & currently have park hoppers on our package along with ten day tickets. If I have to split my stay & buy an additional package to qualify for the free DDP, would I than have to pay for an additional hopper for my family & I or would the first hopper bought on the 19th of August, along with ten days of tickets, still be valid?

Bottom line for us, free DDP just does not look like a very good deal when you need to split your stay!!

You can continue to use the park hopper tickets from your first reservation, and then just get simple base one day tickets on your second reservation and SAVE them until you go again. As long as you do not activate those tickets, they will keep.

Actually, passholders can now book a dining package, ticket free! I wonder if they honor the free dining? I know that they honor the room discount and just discount the room portion of the package

I may be mistaken, but I believe you can have whatever type of ticket you want with a package. So, if you did a five day stay, you could get ten day tickets with it. Then for your FD stay, you could just get 1 day tickets(save for another trip) If they want let you do that, then just change to 5 day tickets and then upgrade at the front desk to 10 day tickets. When I went in 2006, I had originally bought 4 day tickets, but we ended up upgrading to 10 day NE. You can upgrade at any time for the difference between what you have and the cost of the new ticket.

Of course, your tickets will be on your old room key, but that just means you will all have two room keys-one for your new room and one with the tickets on it. Small price to pay for free dining.

Now do I tell DH about the free dining, and have him suggest we move to a mod, or just leave it the way it is? I was hoping *selfishly* that it would be for later dates (we're going 8/24-9/1) so I wouldn't have this problem.

Just glad I already have my ADRs...

We missed dining too! Well we will be there during but it's not worth it to pick up 2 days on the end. I will just try to grab one of those elusive codes! Don't have to make our final payment till July 5th so I have 3 months to try!

I'm looking for a room only code for the first two nights of our 9 night vacation to add to the front of our free dining. We could use some of our hotel points with Hilton though if they don't release codes. However, I'd rather stay on site and enjoy the theming that you can't get elsewhere. We can use your hotel reward points anywhere.

It'll prolly be after free dining is expired before they release any more codes.
