Official AUGUST 2008 CODES to be posted here please!!:)

Subbing to this as we are going last week of August. :yay:

Welcome to The Dis! :welcome: Wow, your first post on the August 08 thread. You picked a good place to start learning about what's going on during your visit and how to save a buck or two.

Just had to reschedule for August. New job wouldn't let me have time off in April. Looking forward to possible free dinning and Disney willing maybe an upgrade.:goodvibes

I'm in. Big question for all you past August trippers. How bad is the heat. We were just there 0/6-10/13. MY DH read it was a hottest Oct in years. (plus the busiest). Want to go back for DS6 Bday. He hated the heat. I don't care when we go back. I just wanna go back!

We made our reservations for the last week of August through the first week of September....fingers crossed for free dining. :)

When we went in 2006, the last half of August, it wasn't unbearable. Drink lots of water. All the time. We were lucky in that the daily showers didn't happen that year. Do the park early, rest or take it easy in the afternoon and then go back to park in the evening. That is what worked best for us.

Honestly, I think July is worse.

We went in July in 2005 & I think it was hotter then August (2nd/3rd week). But we also had my parents with us so that may have slowed us down a bit (in July) so we couldn't run to the a/c ride like we normally do.

As long as you get to the park early am, take a break during the hottest time (swim, laundry, rest, shower) & then go back around 4 or 5 when the sun is thinking about setting, you will be fine.

I am never jealous when I leave the park at around 11-1 when I see people just walking in for the day. I am so happy to go back to my room & swim, etc..

We went in Sept 06 and Aug 07 - I'll have to admit August was HOT. But that being pretty much a given, it was doable. We were at rope drop every day, left the parks either before lunch or immediately following and went back to the resort for pool/rest time and returned after 4 or 5 pm.

ITA with the monorailsilver about seeing the droves of people entering the park while you're leaving - I almost feel bad for them.

Also, stick with TGM or UG's advice - start early in the morning, that's the key! :thumbsup2

Just a question- I just typed in our dates on the WDW page and it quoted me a price that was $100 less than yesterday. Any ideas why??? Everything is exactly the same.

D'Huh! Found my own answer. Sorry to take up the space.

This will be our family's twelfth trip to Disney during the month of August. We always go the last two weeks and stay through Labor Day. The lack of crowds make up for the heat, which honestly is not as bad as one might think.

The hint I'll give is when you want to go to the Animal Kingdom this time of year, be sure to take advantage of early hours and go straight to the safari. If you get there any later than around 10:00am, all the animals are sleeping. :)

Subscribing...we go to WDW every August and stay at the Poly. Usually a code means saving a few bucks on the trip but the one time we got a code, we took the extra money and extended our vacation. Keeping my fingers crossed for a code!!:)
