I did not like the "shock" element of last night. I think it was cruel. I hope they don't continue it for "ratings".

I agree with whoever said that Ryan never told the bottom row they were "safe". He told them they could relax. If the producer's think this abrupt "you're out" way of telling the contestants is going to be popular with viewers, I think they are dead wrong.

I thought Wed night show was horrible. What a classless way to "boot" people off. I thought they would do it the way they did last year, bring down the bottem 4 girls & boys, then send 1 G/B back, then of the 3 of each sex tell us who was safe and the other 2 are eliminated. This up/down crap was something I'd expect from the Gong Show.

I think next year, they should advance the top 2 each of the 3 weeks. I think the contestents would strive more to be unique and shine than to be "safe". Sort of a combination of this years and last years 4 shows of 8 where the contestance advanced, not eliminated.

I don't know about the rest of you, but other than a few people who caught my eye (because they were unique, not because of their voice), the rest of them just blended in. There are just to many to tell apart yet.

Also, the girl was right, some got lots of air time in the audition show and would have come into this week with a bigger fan base than others. Some of them, I did not remember at all from the auditions.

I've voted. Even DH had me call in a vote for him. Didn't they say last night that over 70 million votes had been cast? Good grief!

I, also, did not like the way they boted off Judd last night. You all are right that Ryan didn't tell the front row they were safe but that was the assumption. This definately proves you shouldn't go around assuming!

I feel bad that the 'losers' have to sing. I know it's their last chance to show everyone what they have but I just don't think I could get the words out.

We have never watched AI before this season and I was wondering if that was the usual way they go about telling people they lost. Man, I thought that was cold! Especially to the last guy and the first girl. Ryan belted out "you're out" like he was some kind of baseball umpire or something.

Is it just me or did Constantine look like he was going to puke on Ryan's shoes if he dragged that out one more second when he had them standing up there with the two last guys? lol

I'm glad to hear that Randy and Paula admitted that some of the singers that they praised during the live performance, when they went back and saw it on television they thought they were off pitch. I was beginning to wonder if I should get my ears checked because some of them were way off at times and getting praise heaped on them.

I've been trying to figure out who Constantine reminds me of.. something about the look and his height, being so tall... then it hit me last night. Anyone see the movie Airheads (and willing to admit it?LOL) Constantine reminds me of Brendan Fraser in that movie!

I didn't like the way that they booted them off either. I thought that the first girl was going to punch Ryan. She looked really mad!

I thought that Mikahala would get voted off, but she didn't. I was suprised about Judd too. I missed the first few minutes of the show. (ugh) I hate when that happens!

I picked Judd.

He is running second behind Sarah by a pretty wide margin.

Melinda is the bottom pick of the four, it seems.

I totally agree, the new format is just cruel.
Two of my children went to school with Sarah. She is very talented and a very nice person. She looked upset last night from the very beginning. It makes me wonder if the contestants know the outcome before the show this year. Also our local news lead in (before results) was
"Have American Idol judges grown tired of North Carolina contestants?"
Makes you question who knew what?????? Sort of weird - don't you think?

Don't rely on any numbers that Ryan reads..."you got 13,000 more votes...uh...30,000 more votes...uh...130,000 more votes..."

I kept saying "How cold is THAT?" whenever Ryan zipped off a "You're OUT!" When did AI become a baseball game?

Hopefully, enough people will complain, and they'll change it for the upcoming weeks.

Just a side note...I don't hear a Kelly or Fantasia in the bunch.

The last couple of years I have been able to really see some stars from the get-go...I can't this year. They will have to convince me to vote for them when in other years I knew who I liked the best from the start...

Anyone else feel this way or do you already have a fav???

Carrie is definitely my favorite of the girls. Don't have a particular favorite of the guys yet.

Yep you all are right about Judd's dismissal. I saw it this am. Ryan said the bottom row should relax. Still it was a crappy move.

I'm not into rock..but that guy who has long hair, I like him. I think he is a very good singer. I can't say who is my favorite AI guy. Maybe I will know after next week.

You want this to be a kind/gentle show and nicely tell them they are off. They have NEVER done that and won't start. Drama sells and makes ratings and this show has ratings.

They have always had to sign after getting the boot so that is not different. hey if they just came on and booted they would need 10 minutes. No ad money there.

I have friends in the industry and if you need to be coddled you shouldn't go into music as a profession.

Now, I didn't agree with the way they were booted (Judd specifically) but it wouldn't be AI without the drama. I personally thought that the girls were acting like sore losers, for lack of a better description. Melinda whined about air time...Personally, I've made my picks based on their singing talent, not their background or air time on the show. I didn't think she was all that great when she sang her song.

Now I didn't think that Sarah should have been eliminated yet, and I understand that being booted can be devastating, but you go on the show knowing that you stand a chance of being eliminated. No matter what, this is your time to shine and I don't think that she should have done such a lackluster performance in the end. The other girls noticed that and tried to get her to loosen up a bit right at the end of her song, but she wouldn't budge. I know if I were in the record industry and she came to me for a deal, I don't know if I would give her one based on that performance. In my mind, I would have to assume that I would get similar performances out of her when she was having a bad day or whatever. In the music industry, you can't do that...

I know I don't have what it takes to do this...I don't have the backbone, the drive, or the talent for that matter...lol
