Have to say, they did a HECK of a good job in getting the final 12 group of guys together, as there is more talent JUST on that side than existed in the entire group of
finalists last year ! My review:
Nikko - Decent performance, but Simon was right...I had to really think about it to remember him by the end of the show.
Scott - Surprising voice every time I hear it. Still can't get past the fact that he looks like a serial killer
Anthony - I've liked him in the past, but wasn't terribly fond of this song. I hope he makes it through, 'cause I really think he's capable of much better. As Randy would put it, "It was just aight for me, dawg."
Bo - Probably the performance of the night. Might be tough for him once they start doing the "genre" shows, but as long as he keeps making good song selections, he should be sticking around for a while.
Travis - Ugh...Can't these guys pick something other than Stevie Wonder ? Not a "bad" performance, per se, but hardly memorable, either. Just...blah.
Constantine - He's done better, but I think he'll be around for a while regardless. Even DW, who says he's her favorite, said that Bo did a much better job tonight. Personally, I can't get past the fact that he looks like Dave Mustaine from Megadeth in disguise.
David - Personally, I didn't like this performance at all. If I was voting to put someone
out instead of who to keep, he'd probably be in that bottom two or three.
Jared - Another candidate for the bottom group. Just not impressed with him at all.
Anwar - Ok, I'm gonna have to get my flame retardant suit out, 'cause I didn't think his performance last night was really anything to write home about. First of all, I HATE that song, so that probably had a lot to do with it. But he pretty well butchered the beginning of the song, so even though he finished VERY strong, it just wasn't that great, to me. That said, I hope (and think) he makes it through, since I know he can do a heckuva lot better.
Judd - Ok, I LOVED this performance, and it was a BIG risk on his part. But he went out, had fun, and was actually entertaining, as well as being a pretty good singer. Probably the
overall most fun performance of the night to watch, even if he's not the best singer of the group.
Joseph - There's something, well, odd about this guy's voice. It's like he sings right at the back of his throat or something. He doesn't seem to be off key, it's just...I dunno, hard to describe. Needless to say, not my favorite of the night.
Mario - Good performer, good performance. I agree basically with what Simon said last night. Vocally, it wasn't the best of the night. But overall, it was right up there with any of the best performances of the night (and getting a Michael Jackson vibe isn't a bad thing, if you're a pop performer...in fact, it's pretty high praise).
Anxious to see how the girls do tonight, but pretty much regardless of what happens, they're already ahead of where they were last year, since I don't think there's a Carmen, Jasmine, or red-headed, no-talent, teenage "crooner" anywhere to be found
