Official American Idol Season 4 Thread

First of all, I haven't read the entire post so if this has already been mentioned, I apologize.

Has anyone heard of the scam an Atlanta radio is station is putting together? They are going to fly Victor to Atlanta, cut a song, and try to get radio stations to play it continuously in the wee hours of the morning for an hour in hopes that it will go to #1 and Simon will have to pay $50,000 (plus Paula and Randy).

Here's the scoop....

Making Simon Pay Up No Idol Threat

Wednesday night on American Idol, Simon Cowell, as usual, was torturing the crap out of the latest crop of questionably talented/sane would-be Idols. He was particularly brutal with one gentleman, a certain Victor Mercado, telling him that if he was able to put together a No. 1 record within six months, Cowell would pay him $50,000. Sounds like the makings of a perfectly big, dumb morning show bit!

The first show to take up the challenge was The Bert Show on WWWQ (All The Hits Q100)/Atlanta. Here's co-host/Exec. Producer Jeff Dauler to enlighten us: "A few weeks ago were talking and wondered that if we were able to unite a bunch of morning shows together we could, dare we say, affect the outcome of American Idol! But, instead doing that and risking the wrath of whatever this year's version of 'Claymates' might be, we decided to use our united power to help make Simon Cowell pay up."

Yesterday, Bert and crew were on the air enlisting the help of Mojo on CC's WKQI/Detroit. "Some guy who works in Eminem's studio called in and offered to help," Dauler tells ST Daily. "The goal here is to use our production connections to help Victor record a song, then, using our network of morning shows, get enough spins to be able to finesse it to No. 1 on some chart somewhere to make Simon eat his words ... and fork over the $50K." If you want to join the fun, reach out to Dauler at jeff@allthehitsq100.com.

So what is your opinion on that?

I really like Michaela too. She reminds me so much of someone though - someone I've seen on TV I think (or movies) but I can't quite say who.

oh wow, i TOTALLY thought she looked like minnie driver too!

as for the thing with simon paying the $50,000, disneyakl....i'm sure it won't matter to simon either way. 50 grand is probably a week of groceries for him

So what is your opinion on that?

I don't think that makes it a fair bet at all. Quite frankly, we don't need another William Hung in the world.

is anyone gonna watch tonight though, same time slot as LOST ...

According to our guide Idol is on at 9 here.
I'm guessing they (AI) are going to air at 9 on wednesdays so they don't have competition with Lost. I know if I was the FOX exec I wouldn't go up against Lost.

Yes! That's who it is, thank you very much! That was driving me crazy!

It would take more then 1 radio station playing this in the wee hours to make it a number one. I think someone has to BUY the record!

I thought that it was hilarious when Shunta got on the wrong bus! :rotfl2: I'm so glad that she made it back in time, and got through! :cool1:

I don't know who I really like yet! I enjoy it when the contestants have unique, or quirky personalities, and good voices too. :sunny:

Same time slot as Alias, too! Oh, I'm so torn...
I also think they have more talent in this year's pool. I'm looking forward to it, but I hope they change the Wed. night time!

I agree, this year seems so much better. They seem to have a lot of good guys this year.

I can't get excited about female singers so I'm glad the male talent is there this year.

which one is Miracle Boy??? There was the one guy with glasses and blonde hair that reminded me a lot of Clay. He was good. But I can't figure who is MB?????

Yup, that's him. He had a trac. as a young child. They didn't even think he would talk, let alone sing.

yay good show, i agreed with more or less all of the decisions (i wish aaron kelly, the long haired rock guy, had gotten through though :( ). but one thing is bugging me - it looked like the girl with the curly hair & glasses was in a group with the redhead crooner guy, but i didn't see them perform, or see either of them in either the winners or losers montage at the end! they were two of my favorites, does anyone know if they got through?????

I loved the long hair rocker last night, but he really did not do well tonight! I was sorry to see him bomb out so bad. Those guys who got a second chance were sooo lucky! I agreed with the judges for the most part, but there were a few that I would have sent home that they let through.

I also commented last night that the one girl looked like Minnie Driver!

it's unanimous! :teeth: which reminds me....i didn't see her tonight either!! anyone know where i can get a list of who got through and who didn't? i know, i'm dreaming. guess i'll have to wait til next week :hyper:

What is Miracle Boy's REAL name. I have been killing myself trying to figure it out. They haven't even shown him sing for a while either. I saw him on next week's preview at least. ::yes:: I was worried for a moment. I'm rooting for him. Also for that Black Music Teacher with the dreadlocks. Both great in my opinion.

Some of these people just want to be on T.V.

They have to have some talent to make it this far, though. And I think ALL of these people want to be on tv as a music superstar, why else would they be there?

Has anyone noticed that this season, most of the singers are kind of disappointing?

I think the singers this year are sooo much better than last year. I am actually looking forward to this season now and didn't think I would be after how disappointed I was with last season. I sure hope it lives up to my expectations this time. I was really glad that they let that girl Elizabeth (the one that wore the fishnet stockings on the first audition) go home tonight. She was annoying. I know I am in the minority here but I also find the girl that everyone thinks looks like Minnie Driver to be annoying as well, and I am not that crazy about her singing either. The 3 guys that didn't rehearse until the last minute and forgot all of the words and then Simon still gave them a second chance...I wish he would have sent all 3 of them home. I don't feel they took the competition seriously enough since they waited till the last min. to practice. Other than that, I agree with most of the decisions that were made tonight. I can't wait until next week!
