Have you noticed how bad the girls are tonight? Boring, off pitch. Its horrible. Keeps making me want to change the channel.

I've been a musician most of my life. I can't sing but I play the flute, the picallo, the guitar and the piano.

This is horrid. Can't they hear how off they are?

I liked Carrie and Nadia the best too. Interesting, one performed a country song and the other rocked a bit. I hope that this is a sign that AI will be about more than just Pop from now on.

I'm trying to pull for our local girl Celena too but she'd better start singing a little better!

I think that is so funny - My DH and I really liked the girls better - that proves that everyone certainly likes different things!!!
Dh and I also thought the girls were somewhat better, but we had favorites from both sides, so it should be an interesting competition overall.

Couldn't believe it when Simon said that in his next life he wanted to come back as Amanda's microphone!!! I think it was Amanda.

It was Amanda all right....and I agree with Simon. :teeth:

I could only get one call off for Nadia tonight after one hour of trying. Vonzell got some votes from me as well.

The performances on the whole were pretty zzzzzzz

Vonzell rocked it a bit, started the evening off well.
Nadia, was very true to herself did not bother with a power ballad

I can't believe Simon just said what he said about coming back in his next life as that Las Vegas girl's microphone. Normally I like him, but geez :rolleyes2. Seems kind of inappropriate even for him.

edited to add: Hi, Robinrs :wave2:.
LOL, backATCHA KristaTX!!

If you ever saw Simon's girlfriend she is a ringer for that girl, that's obviously HIS type.

I wasn't blown away by any of the girls, but did vote for Aloha and Nadia. I also like Lindsey's voice. Mikalah... ... count me in the 50% that are ANNOYED... I went to school with a THOUSAND hers... I actually went to the high school that Barbra Streisand attended, so her type is way too familiar for me, not unique at all. Unfortunately, I get the feeling she'll have a following just because she is that way.... hope not... :p

Bottom two? I say Janay and probably Sarah, both were somewhat forgettable.

Well here's my two cents :teeth:

Vonzell: I like her but I thought she was a bit off key and her song choice wasn't right for her voice. Score: 2

Amanda: *YAWN* and it didn't help that she sang a song I dislike. Score 2

Janay - See Amanda. Score: 2

Carrie - OMG! Terrific vocal control. Would be hard for me to find one single negative thing to say about this girl. OK, maybe one. She needs to work on her stage presence just a bit. With a voice like that, I'll forgive her. She got a vote. Score 5+++

Sarah - Terrible song choice. Her presentation was just plain boring! Score 2

Melinda - Nice voice but, as with many of the others, I think she went into the music vault of songs I hate. Score: 3

Nadia - Amazing performance. It took me a while to get into the song she was singing (never heard it before). Once I did I realized just how good she is. This girl is going to give Carrie a run for her money. Voted for her. Score:4

Celena - ZZZZZZZ. Sorry but she did nothing for me. Score: 2

Mikalah - The first time during the final 24 that I had to use the mute button. Dreadful presentation. Dreadful voice quality. Dreadful appearence. Score: 0

Lindsey - Nice voice but nothing special. Score: 3

Jessica - Another one with a nice voice but who picked a song that was a bit too much for her. Score: 3

Aloha - What a surprise. While the generation gap didn't really let me like that song she sang all that much, what a personality. Wonderful voice but as the judges said, she needs to find her own nitch. Voted for her. Score: 4

Just one word about the girls: CARRIE, CARRIE, CARRIE!!

I had no trouble voting. We waited about 45 minutes and got through the first time for Carrie and Aloha. I had to try twice for Nadia.

Tonight should be interesting!

Roberta

Did anyone else notice how these girls were standing? Clonking around like little girls in high heels. With their feet planted shoulder-width apart, knees bent--they looked like cowhands in dresses! :earseek: Someone needs to tell the girls that it's kinda slutty to stand on stage singing with their legs wide open--just looks nasty. That's Stage Presence 101,gals. :teacher:

Cathy--good voice, knows enough to keep my legs together :confused3

My three picks, too. Aloha was the best, I think, which shocks me because I think Beyonce is one of the most overrated singers on the radio today. That being said, I think it was the fact Aloha was different (as was Nadia) that I liked her so much. As for Carrie, she's got the best "power vocal" voice of the group this year.

And, although she didn't sound great, I hope Amanda Avila sticks around...she's nice eye candy for me. ;)

As for Mikalah (or however you spell her name) - I'm definitely in the camp that thinks she's annoying and defintely in the camp that thinks she can't sing. Maybe it was just her 70s disco song choice, but she kinda reminded me of a drag queen. <----Is that too mean? I don't know. Just my opinion - Sorry if I offend.

RyMickey

LOL---I like Mikalah and had the same thought as you---she looked very over done.

Overall, not very impressed with the girls. If it were up to me I would cut them down to three right now: Carrie, Nadia and Aloha. Carrie and Nadia were awesome, and Aloha was a distant third. Although I didn't like the song she sung, I thought she had a good voice (at least compared to the rest of them last night). I would also like to see Jessica get another chance, as I liked her so much previously. It wasn't her night, though. Any of the others could go, and I wouldn't bat an eye.
Who will leave? Please, please, please say it's Mikalah! I cannot stand her voice, her personality or her looks. BTW, no one mentioned it, but wasn't that the same song she sung in the last round? Last time she said "I'm talking to you, Simon!" This time she threw in Randy instead. Very original...not!
If I were basing it on last night alone, I would also boot Janay. She looked terrified, and her voice was quavering all over the place! Of course, I didn't know the song she sung, maybe that has something to do with it? I doubt it's supposed to be sung like that, though!

No Mikalah didn't sing the same song--the judges hate it when contestants do repeats (a few seasons ago, one girl sang the same song each round.) I am sure if it were the same, something would have been said.

She does need to drop that 'tude during her performances as she certainly won't win any cross over opinions with that. When I heard that I was like "NOOOOO". Her silly face at the end was a bit much for me. I hope that she isn't eliminated---but being threatened with an elimination would be a nice wakeup call. I'm all for being about who you are....but we are hitting the big time here--it is time to tone it down. If they hadn't changed the format of this round, she wouldn't stand a chance.

The girl is all show and she will be going places---I do see her doing some type of Bette Midler routine...singing and comedy.

Was it me or did anybody else not like the Celine Dion performance last night? I kept saying to myself, Celine she ain't. And the judges liked her?

Overall, I was not as impressed with the girls tonight as much as I was with the guys last night. But my favorites were: Carrie, Nadia and Aloha.
I agree. This year we will have a guy winner. Which one????? hmmmmmm

I liked Carrie, Nadia, and Aloha last night. I do like Lindsay, but I think that she can do better than she did last night. DH and I couldn't sit through Mikayla's performance. She annoys the heck out of both of us, and her singing wasn't very good last night either. Some of the girls seemed off-key, but I wonder how much nerves just got the better of them. Carrie is the one who really stood out to me. She has a great voice! I think that she'll be in the top 3-4 this season, but I'm also leaning towards thinking that guy will win. My top pick would be Anwar of course, because he is so talented.

Carrie is the one. I am not sure what the other girls' potentials are because I don't think that any of them picked songs that bring out what they REALLY have. I realize this is a VERY nerve wracking competition, and they choose "SAFE" songs, but they REALLY need to choose songs that are upbeat and moving! All these ballots are SLEEP provoking! ::yes::

Hmmmmm, what a difference between the guys and the girls. On Monday night, I saw 12 really talented people perform, last night I saw 1 really talented perform, and 2 that were above average. The rest were not up to par, not this year, anyway. Too bad that it has to be 6 girls and 6 guys, otherwise I'd vote for 11 guys and Carrie. I thought Nadia and Aloha were o.k., but neither were better than the worst of the guys.

I liked Carrie far above anyone else. My least favorites were Makayla and Aloha. Makayla would do better to dress like a 16 yr. old instead of whatever look it was she was going for last night. Aloha I didn't care for at all.

Joseph - There's something, well, odd about this guy's voice. It's like he sings right at the back of his throat or something. He doesn't seem to be off key, it's just...I dunno, hard to describe. Needless to say, not my favorite of the night.

I thought so too and then he hit a certain note and I figured out what it was.... He sings like a male version of Cher! :crazy2:

I really like Bo's performance. I still like Constantine - liked him before all the hype. Just something about his personality. He might have been a bit sharp on some of those notes but you have to give the guy some credit for picking a much harder song than some of those Michael Bolton ballads. He's not afraid to challenge himself.

What the heck is up with all the Stevie songs?

As for the girls - they didn't WOW me much. There was only 2 that I really liked. Carrie has an amazing voice and can really belt out a song. Nadia was great too.. it was nice to see a girl that doesn't try to "Destinys Child" a song - you know what I mean?.. make their voice go all over the map when singing one word. She just rocked! And a good stage presense too.

I don't think the guys "blew out" the girls from a voice standpoint. I tried to view it as I would if we were down to the top 12 (6 and 6). There were many performances that I had forgotten before the end of the show although at the time they performed, I thought they were okay.

Anyway. . .here's my list of faves. . .

Anwar
Bo
Anthony
Constantine
(The balance of the group--don't care--no others stood out for me OR I felt they were over the top performancewise with mediocre vocals. I should note, I like Scott, BUT he looks like a serial killer! Mario could be good, but he put me off early on in the competition with his "killer, take no prisoners, make no friends" attitude and cockiness  )

Carrie
Nadia
Jessica
Aloha
Amanda
(The final pick--again don't care AS LONG AS ITS NOT Mikalah! The Fran Drescher/Janice voice kills and her "enthusiasm" annoys! :sad2: )
