Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

I thought tinkerbell was moving to May in 2015? Is it not until 2016?

You are right. I thought it was in May, too. I guess Disney just changed the year on their information and didn't follow through with changing the month. It's not the first time I've seen them release printed material without a quality proof read.

And it probably won't be the last;)
Glad to know I wasn't crazy. I wrote off ever doing Tinkerbell when they announced the change to May. I was wondering if they reconsidered.

I really WANT to do Princess again; I had SO much fun this year!

I think I'll have to see how finances play out...I'm thinking I can sell my husband on one race per coast each year, but I love Wine and Dine SO much, too. I'll be hanging out in here, though. You know...just in case. :)

Ok, I just got home from work and I am a little bit tired. I started reading your post and saw "I think I'll have to see how finances play out...I'm thinking I can sell my husband" and I thought, gee, I wonder how much she could get for him!? LOL

With my job as a cake decorator, Mother's Day is a very busy time and hard to get off. Therefore, no Tink for me.

Oh, man! That's awesome! I could be set for Disney races for at LEAST the next 20 years! :rotfl2:

I have decided to run the Princess Half and have been supported by mostly everyone... Can't wait to run the Glass Slipper Challenge and shock EVERYONE!

Training has lightly started but going to start running 5 days a week starting today.

This may be a silly question, but do men run the half? My Dad (who will be 70 at the race) wants to run it with me. He has run since he was in high school and will likely run it in 1:30 or less...I would love to share in this with him... could be the best experience of either of our lives...

sure - there are men. They can't be in the first corral or two but there are plenty of men. Some even in costume.

I think it would be amazing to share this with your dad!

Planning for my costume for 2015, does anyone have a picture of what was the t-shirt for the 5k event???

Thanks!!!!

I booked my room reservation last night, for the GSC, I'm splitting my stay between POP and Caribbean.:thumbsup2:yay:

Hello All! I am a brand new runner, training since November, who is headed to Disney in February for my first ever PHM!!! So excited...my friend and I have a Royal a Room booked at POR and just booked our air last week! Just ran two local 5Ks and have another 5K and 10K on the calendar...very excited but a little nervous, too!

I didn't even think room reservations were open for Feb 2015.

I booked DVC which opens at 11 months to the date of checkin for your home resorts. But I believe that although you can't book WDW hotels online yet, you can call and book. But you have to reserve rack rate, and make your deposit based on that. But, you can convert that to any announced deals when they are available. It's just a way for someone who really wants a specific hotel or even category of room at a hotel to ensure they have what they want. I could be getting details wrong, but this is my recollection from it being discussed last year on the 2014 PHM threads.

WOW...room and plane!

I'm thinking of signing up for the GSC in 2015, but I'm a jogger/walker. I am very short (5') and my walking and jogging stride are so short, that it takes me a LONG to finish a race. Right now, I got 4 minutes and walk 1 minute, 30 seconds. It takes me an average of 45 minutes to finish a 5K. There are a lot of walkers who can walk the entire 5K and finish before me. So, I hope I can keep up a 16 minute pace for the 10K and Half Marathon! Is there a certain point in the half marathon that they won't sweep you off the course? For example, do they sweep people who have slowed down their 16 minute pace at mile 8? Since I am not fast, I wouldn't even be able to stop to use the potty (and I'm old, so that's not an option - LOL). Also, once sign up starts (7/15/14), will there be Disney resorts that offer discounts for the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend? Sorry for the long post! Oh by the way, the only Disney race I've participated in was a 15K back in 2008. I walked the entire thing and was almost swept off the course, but was given a little short-cut instead.:cool1:

YAY...you can do it! I am also very petite just a little taller but my 17 year old daughter is 4 ft 11 in and is a long distance runner and pretty good at it too if you let me brag. I am also a run/walker...something you might want to think about is playing around with your interval times. I never thought to do that until I got some really good advice I was doing 3 minutes walk 1 minute run...when a friend told me why don't you move to a 1:30 walk/30 run pace...my time dropped significantly as well as my stamina! Now I am down to a 30 sec walk/30 sec run and my time is even faster, working on now upping my running time!

The key to not being swept is to submit a proof of time for a 10K that gets you out of the last corral...the 16 minute mile pace does not begin until the "balloon ladies" the last ones in the last corral start. So if you can get yourself running a 15 mm pace plus get into a couple corrals higher you have a good cushion from being swept. Although, it does not allow you a lot of picture stop moments. That is something that gets a lot of people in the last corrals in trouble, they want to stop for all the photo ops but you cant lose the time when you are near the end.

Good luck in your training!

I cant help you on the discount offers...but I imagine with how popular PHM is getting that there will not be many!

Thank you for the interval tips Tammie. And, I'll search for a 10K in my local area so that I can submit a time before the PHM. I just hope I can save up the money in time for the registration on 7/15/14!! I want to register on the first day. Very excited!!

Just sharing the advice that I got...I do not claim to know anything when it comes do running. :rotfl2: Totally new at this still. I have only been running for the last year!

I think we will need to be registered at the stroke of noon on July 15 or be left out. The race is expensive...but looks so worth it!

Tammie, I'll probably follow Jeff Galloway's training advice on the runDisney website. I've been running (if you can call it that) for 6 months. I'm in my 50's and overweight and it's very hard for me. But, I've lost 42 pounds in the past 6 months. Hope to lose at least 20-30 more pounds before the PHM. Can't wait!!

Wow, all that's left is to be at your computer on 7/15/14 at Noon ET to register. Are you registering for the Glass Slipper Challenge (10K & Half Marathon)? I've only been running/walking since the end of September, so I'm a newbie too. I've very nervous too because I am a very slow runner/walker. But, WE CAN DO IT!!
