Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

Congrats to her!!!

It's been totally addicting for my DD16. She started with runDisney 10ks but moved up to the 1/2s pretty quickly. She got her blue coast to coast this year by doing Lightside at DL in January and Princess at WDW in Feburary. She's going for her pink coast to coast and her first challenge with the Tink weekend coming up.

The bling is very addicting, lol.

The only thing that is preventing a coast to chateu plan for my dd is you have to be 18 to run the Paris 1/2 marathon. That gives me a few years to save.
Wow. You wouldn't consider adopting me would you?

I could have sworn they DID have someone speaking - on the upper level of the J Center as we were leaving. But I can't remember for sure and can't find a speaker schedule, so I am not a reliable source. :confused3 They definitely had speakers at the 2016 Tink expo.
They had speakers at marathon weekend, but it wasn't very well attended. I took advantage of listening to keep off my feet. I don't recall speakers at Princess. There was a big photo op where the series was usually held.

I hope they have speakers. I was looking forward to it.

I noticed the Event Guide is now available, but it doesn't seem finalized. When is a good time to print it?

Wow. You wouldn't consider adopting me would you?

Hahaha - my dd is glad that she only has a half-sister that lives with her dad. She figured out pretty early on that there were benefits to being an only child.

On a serious note running has helped her blossom and it keeps her busy (out of trouble). So I am all for it. This was the only year for the foreseeable future she could have done coast to coast because of school demands--- so much is put on these kids their junior and senior years in high school. We are close enough to DL that it isn't a major excursion for us. The race fee is our main expense.

I had a big work trip last weekend and got home yesterday. Now that that is off my plate, I feel like I can turn my attention to Tink!

First thing I did this morning was to make a packing list!

I just saw on facebook that DL is offering a Disney Photopass+ One Week package. Does DL use Photopass photographers on the course like at WDW? If so, this might be worth purchasing for me.

Yes they do. I think last year's Tink race weekend was the second time PhotoPass did the pictures (first time at DL). I thought they did a nice job and will be purchasing the 1-week package. :)

Oooh...inspired by @JulieODC post...

A bonus QOTW!!

:tinker:Pixies Prepare!:tinker:

Happy Hump-Day! What is on your must-pack list for a runDisney race weekend?? (This is a somewhat selfish question as I find whenever I see people post their lists, I always notice something I myself forgot to pack! So help a gal out!!)

----------------------------------------------

Okay, here is my list - as a total over-packer and a total over-planner...what's on yours??

For the expo (all of this will be in my carry-on bag):
- $$$...so Disney and the various vendors can take it at the expo. :teeth: I think I have a Disney giftcard or two I can use for official merch, but I also want to get any sort of discount available, so I think that means I'll be using my Disney Visa at the expo.
- Signed race waiver for bib and packet pick-up
- Driver's license (which...duh since I need that to fly to California)
- Some way to access my confirmation for pre-ordered merchandise (pins only for me)

Race Stuff (again, will attempt to shove this into my carry-on):
- Running Shoes (2 pairs, 1 as my main pair and 1 as a back-up)
- Balega socks (3 pairs)
- running bottoms (3)
- running bras (3)
- running tops (3)
- Garmin Forerunner 230 + charger
- SweatyBands (2) - for 5K and 10K
- Sparkle Athletic Visor (1) - for half marathon
- Running sunglasses - for half marathon
- Throwaway clothes, if needed :scratchin
- Sweat- and water-proof sunscreen
- Body Glide...!!!
- Race day breakfasts - Bruegger's bagels with peanut butter (Jif-to-go containers) + disposable plastic knives (3).
- Disposable coffee cups with lids, along with my normal coffee mix-ins (3) so I can make coffee in the room and take it with me to the corrals...can't remember if they provide these in the hotel room but I'll bring my own just in case. And I can't do the powdered mixture for coffee. BAD news for my stomach!
- Spibelt (likely for half marathon only)
- A few Ziploc sandwich baggies (see below)
- In my Spibelt during each race in a Ziploc baggie: some cash, an extra hair tie, a small packet of Kleenex, ID and room key (no Magic Bands at DL, wahhh!)
- Honey Stinger Waffles - 2 for the half marathon
- A grocery bag for the finish area, to carry all of the stuff they give you (banana, Powerade, water, snackbox, etc.) --> I read this suggestion from someone a couple of years ago and it is GENIUS. I think they will give us a cinch bag at the end of the half (not banking on that though) - but they don't give you anything to carry all of that stuff after the 5K and 10K
- Phone - a must-have anyway but I NEED it during the races for pictures!!

Other:
- Small first-aid kit (band-aids, nail clippers, ibuprofen, KT Tape, etc.)
- Name tags for the DIS meet-up (Saturday at 2PM, Trader Sam's patio...in case you didn't know :teeth:)
- Medals from WDW Marathon Weekend and Princess Weekend to get those Coast-to-Coast bling pictures!

Ooh - what is the deal? I was debating one day photopass vs a longer photopass (I think it was $39 vs $78)....

I'm only doing the one race, so my list is smaller, but......

My skirt, tank, sports bra, socks, and sneakers

Running Sunglasses

Sweaty band

Headphones and phone

Gels

Sunscreen

Throwaway sweatshirt

An extra top and socks

Almost forgot - my PHM medal!

I am not bringing a water bottle or flipbelt- and will buy coffee and breakfast at DL for race morning (PB doesn't agree with me lately!! I think that's what caused my PHM gi troubles - so I'll make a banana and butter sandwich in white bread. Childhood fave, but also served me well in a recent 10k - well, when combined with immodium. Sorry that took a TMI turn!)

thinkerbellfamille.jpg Hello everyone... Sorry for my English, I'm a french-canadian-speaker from Québec. I've done the Disney princess weekend in 2016 and now I had a curious ideal (late minute) to go in California and do the Thinkerbell Pixie Dust challenge!!! (I receive an email that it is not sold out AND a friend of my who is travelling in a group of 4 is going too...) I found the airplane fare right and everything else but I CAN'T found a hotel near Disney that is less than 252$ (I found a room for sunday 14th of may to monday 15th may but not from friday may 12th to sunday may 14th) SO I try to find if someone who would like to share a room... I'm a dentist in Québec, I'm 40 years old and mother of 4 beautiful chidren from 5 to 14 years old... I've been 16 times to Disney (12 times to WDW-florida, 1 time in Dysneyland Paris and 3 times in California 2002-2007(I was in Disneyland during the earthquake) and 2010... this will be the 4th time in my favorite theme parc... I don't need the safe in the room so you will be able to keep your things in that if you want... I'm really easy going and friendy... THank you and hope to find something to realise this crazy dream... I can sleep on a sofa also... does'nt matter for 2 or 3 night... I'm going to be in anaheim from may 12 to may 15 but I found a room (refundable) from may 14 to may 15... so I'm looking for sharing something from may 12 to may 14 OR from may 12 to may 15th... thank you everyone and Have a Magical day:tiptoe::yay::thanks:!!! 4enfantthink.png familledisneyprincess.jpg anniedisneymedaille.jpg

I've only started doing DL 10k runs since the Avengers one last year, but every race I've done, during registration they give you those giant clear cinch bags for checking your stuff during the race. They're so big that I've been able to pick that back up after the race and use it to hold everything they give me (and everything I brought with me of course) with plenty of room to spare.

I have received some amazing pictures during my past few DL races. If they weren't included with my AP I would totally be buying the photopass package.

I always like it when you post your packing lists because I don't ever have a comprehensive packing list, so I just steal yours and adapt it. :D My plan is to actually make a list this year and then figure out how to use my new handy dandy packing cubes.

:tinker::tinker::tinker::tinker:Wow Bonus Question of the week !!!!:tink::tink:

For expo--- waivers, all paper work for pre purchased items (just in case), waivers for DH and mouseketeer, and a book (I get there really early).Everything else is always in my wallet; ID, AP, Disney rewards already loaded with $$, credit cards, cash, shopping list for expo.

Running shoes (may bring 2nd pair if there is a chance for rain) **2 pairs of Tink pom-poms for shoes
2 tops, 2 sports bras, 3 pairs Feetures socks, sparkle skirt for 1/2, capris for 5K, wings for 5K only,
rain poncho, rain jacket (just in case and I can over pack since we're driving down) throw away clothes
hair clip, hat, visor, sun glasses, 2 pair of ear buds, ipod, body glide, zip lock bags for food to eat in corral and to ice after 1/2, extra safety pins (they can break)

In running belt--fuel, lips gloss (a must), hand wipes, tissues, ID, credit card, hotel key, cash

Bringing bagels, peanut butter, bananas, those soft pretzels from Trader Joes (like them much better than bagels) 2 cases of Dasani for the long weekend and we're driving.

Depending on the weather will determine what/how I pack for the rest of the weekend. Since it's a "race weekend" it will be mostly wk out clothes and race shirts. I may bring something cute to wear for Mother's Day. I'm getting excited to get and use my new D & B purse so I must plan outfits accordingly. :rolleyes1:rotfl::rotfl2:

Dang it now I think it's Friday! :rotfl:

My packing list is pretty generic but two things I will always throw in there are my running rain jacket (even if the forecast is sunny), and some throw away clothes for the corral (even if it's supposed to be warm). I once did a run in Florida and the forecast was showing that it was going to be completely sunny on race day. While I was traveling that turned to pouring rain and I was glad that I always throw my jacket in there.

I *think* it's the $78 deal. Last year I had an AP so I got them for free...so I'm not sure if the PhotoPass needs to be purchased ahead of time or what. But $78 for park pictures AND race pictures is a good deal, I think.

The facebook post says it is the same price no matter when you buy. I have a WDW AP so I have been spoiled with all the free pictures for the last few races. We will be running two of the races, and then doing the parks until Wednesday so I will have plenty of time for photopass pictures.

As for packing, one of the things that I have been doing for race weekends is buying one of those flexible 1" three ring binders. I use the clear plastic page sleeves to hold all of the information I need for the weekend. Waivers, preorder receipts, race maps, my printed itinerary, packing list, etc. Then I use the pages that are trading card size to hold the gift cards that I have collected over the year, my DVC card, AP card or park tickets. I will carry the binder with me in my tote and bring it with me to the expo. It is so nice to have everything organized and easy to access. Also, when I pick up the bibs I slide them into one of the page protectors so that I don't lose them!

When I get home, I keep the binders with all the info together so that I can reference them later.

My packing list is pretty similar to Ariel484's. I always pack all of the race stuff in a carry on. I was at OKW last year for Princess and there were two ladies at the concierge desk because their luggage was missing. That is my worst nightmare.

I'm not sure if it is on anyone's list, but I also pack a small alarm clock as a back up. The DL races are not so early as the WDW ones, but I would still hate to sleep in by accident!
