Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

I *think* we can expect to see ornaments at Tink, but I'm only basing this on the fact that every other race weekend this year has had them. :confused3

Speaking of merchandise, Disney Parks Blog didn't post the merchandise preview for Dark Side until Thursday, 4/20 - the first day of the expo. What's up with that?! Trying to deter eBay resellers? I wonder if it'll be the same for Tink. :scratchin

There was a pre-order bundle for a tumbler and ornament...possible it's the shoe. I'd love a shoe one if they have any left on Friday!

Ariel, you should go with your gut and guess we won't see merch until Thursday...this way we will see it sooner. Much like the waiver guess. I'm counting on you! :)

My official guess is that we will not see a merchandise preview until Thursday, May 11...Day 1 of the expo.

.......:rolleyes1

Anybody on here use packing cubes?

I'm obsessing now about packing for the trip (since I pretty much have everything else done) and have spent more time than I should admit looking at packing cube videos. :ssst:

So I'm having dining res. anxiety. Hoping someone can calm my nerves.

I made a 10am Plaza Inn breakfast res. for Sunday after the half back when the ADR window opened. I don't know why I didn't do 10:30...but I've been stalking to bump it later and it's a sold out restaraunt so my question is.

I'm corral B and I'm going to try to be up front as much as I can. Let's say I start the race at 5:40 as a guess.
My plan is 10ish min miles (could have some slower, some faster...it's my first half so I dunno yet.) And try for at the very least two character stops or "fun pics" maybe more if the lines aren't insane. Probably more :)
So let's just say even if I stop for a long total time and I finish at 3 hours that would still be 8:40am right?
So I could feasibly at least do a super fast shower and change before breakfast? What if I'm hit with giant lines to get into the park? Should I just go while still sweaty (ewww) and change after? Should I just be ok if I arrive a lil late? Should I cancel altogether?
Or am I overthinking this totally?

Thanks for answering my question that I'm sure I've asked a million times before.

ETA that I'm staying at the Tropicana so it's not a long walk.

It seems like you should have plenty of time for that. Where are you staying? Are you at a Disney hotel? Starting in B and then running your pace, I'm guessing character lines won't be that long (at least I'm hoping that's the case for me as well), so even allow for a few stops, I bet you'd easily be done in 3 hours. As long as your hotel is close and you shower quickly, it seems like you can make it. We've got a 10:30 brunch reservation and I think we gave ourselves plenty of time.

Thanks for easing my brain. We are at the Tropicana which is very close to the park entrance. I may still keep checking for something a little after 10 but will just keep it if nothing else opens.
My brain is going through the normal post-planning anxieties.

I do! I'm not sure how helpful they really are, but I hate packing and I like that they make me feel somewhat organized. Normally I have one that is just for race outfits, one for socks, one for underwear, one for bottoms, etc. :confused3

I spectated the half for awhile last year and then went to go into the parks at about 10:30. Bag check line was pretty big and it took me about 20 minutes to get through. I feel like that would be worst-case scenario for you (assuming long bag check line + 3-hour finish time, which...I am guessing you will finish in under 3 hours even with pic stops) - so I think you'll be fine to go back and shower!

I'm tinkering with my dining reservations too - getting antsy and can't leave well enough alone! :upsidedow

I've done it too. Anything to "assist" in my over packing. I'm a fan of those really jumbo zip lock bags for outfits and squeeze the air out of them.

Oh my I've been so distracted I missed the announcement of waivers and corral assignments. My dd (16) is thrilled to be in C. She missed being in B by less than a minute. She's doing her first challenge this time and can't wait to see what corral she's in for the 10k.

She's taking her first AP test event (European History) the friday morning before this. I'm glad it's before as all the running will help de-stress her.

Question, I have not run Tink before... Is there really any merchandise for men or is it mostly ladies, as this obviously is a female centric race?

Admittedly I didn't pay much attention to the men's stuff last year... @Davidg83 do you know?
@jaxonp don't count on there being much (if any) race specific merchandise for men. What they usually have for men is the generic runDisney merchandise, coast to coast, and different runDisney Character Ts that you can usually find at the Disney store website. I would think they'd have the "I did it" shirts but I'm totally drawing a blank on that. It's been 2 years since I've done this race though so things may have changed. I use this race as a chance to buy the generic merchandise since I'm not spending a fortune on the race specific stuff, except for the pins.

I think you'll be completely fine. I just went back and looked at pictures and results from the Disneyland half. I was in corral B and started about 6 minutes after the official start of the race. I have 5 character stops pictured on my phone and a post race selfie that's time stamped at 8:15. My running pace is right about where yours is without Character stops.

I got an "I did it" shirt last year and it was a unisex shirt. It did have fairies on it though. However they do have Peter Pan on the 10K medal this year so maybe there will be more design options!

That's what I'm hoping for... some Peter Pan related merch would be great. Based on numbers men make up about 10% of the race weekend. Can we get a shirt please!?!

Thanks. I went by TJMaxx to look last night and they had some at a pretty good price so decided to give it a shot. Basically I have everything else done and ready for the trip, so I'm just looking for other things to do to help with my impatience. :D

I just got in from our epic HS band/Dark Side trip at 3am this morning. I have had a lot of reading to catch up on. I saw a post that waivers had been released but I didn't get a chance to look at them until this morning. Corral B! Woo hoo!

We had a great time at Dark Side, my DD17 finished her first half. Now she is talking about challenges and coast to coast. I may have created a monster!

I can verify that the Dark Siders received both the Kessel and C2C medals this weekend.

As for the QOTW, I have preordered the pins and the Dooney tote. I am a little worried that I am going to fall in love with the Dooney crossbody and come home with that too! It's only our second DL trip so I am sure that I will be picking up some DL specific merchandise too. I won't be getting to the expo until Friday afternoon/evening so I don't know how fast race stuff might sell out.

Now to start unpacking and do laundry so that I can start packing again!

Congrats on the Dark Side run and to her DD for her first half. That runDisney bug is dangerous stuff - and expensive. :p

PS - Those cakes in your signature are crazy. Really incredible.
