Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

I mentioned maybe hypothetically wanting a pre-order jacket to my husband and then dropped the price bombshell. And he said to go ahead, so this happened...

Performance Jackets - Women's Large 91.79
Subtotal: $ 91.79
* Processing fee: $ 6.06
Grand total: $ 97.85
Amount paid: ($ 97.85)
Order balance: $ 0.00

So now I don't have to worry about arriving a day or two late to the expo. At least I will have a pin, jacket and shirt no matter what. I went L instead of XL because realistically I'd be using the jacket for cold Chicago training runs...so being form fitting will be ok. Hopefully.

Officially need to step away from the registration links now for a good long time (until cheer squad stuff opens)

I'm in for my first half ever!!! So excited, and I'm glad its the Tinkerbell Race, go girl power. I signed up with a friend who is much faster than me and has run marathons before :scared:.

I'll probably be in the very last corral so hopefully she doesn't get too bored waiting for me to finish.

You NEED to go! :tinker::tinker::tinker::tinker::tinker::tinker:

I'm really thinking of suggesting I go solo. But, it's Mother's Day weekend isn't it? Does it make me a bad mother to say for my Mother's Day gift I want to go away alone? :D

That's EXACTLY what I'm doing. Escaping all my kids and my Husband! hehehe

Since I live in Hawaii, and time difference kinda sucks, I paid for my bib with Magical Miles. But, they haven't asked me to register yet, I inquired with them and said I'm all good for the 10K anyway. I hope they're right! I already booked my flight and hotel (Hyatt Regency Orange County). I have a friend who is an AP holder and registered for the 10K too... how would it work with the corrals if our numbers are different? Can we just stay together anyway in one another's corral? Sorry... noob here!

Ohhhh this is a good question as I am racing with a faster paced person than I am. I don't think it's the number but the corral letter you get assigned to according to your estimated finish time. I think I once heard that you can move back in the alphabet to a later corral, but you couldn't move forward. But I'm not sure if that makes sense. Hopefully one of the experts here know the answer to this one!

You are right. If you get a bib with a C on it and your friend gets a B....you cannot go up to B, but she can go back to C.
Submitting any proof of time should help get you in an earlier corral than the last one.

Great to hear! When you go from the room into the park, do you walk over to Harbor and go in through the pedestrian entrance? Or do you walk up and cut through the Grand Californian?

Walk and cut through the Grand! Always. So much quicker as far as I'm concerned.

So glad I was able to keep myself from registering for the 5K. I would love to run it at some point, but it's just not in the cards right now.

In the meantime, 1 week until my next Half and I am sooooo not ready. I will probably be taking this one as easy as I can without completely stinking up my pace.

Sis and I swapped hotels already! I think we are done now and will just stick with what we have (unless of course they start begging us to stay at the official hotels for some crazy discount at any point...the over-planner in me will still keep stalking it.)
We ditched the super cheap "Qaulity Inn at the park" (not the suites...it's a motel on Katella farther down than the good neighbor hotels) and switched to Tropicana on the Harbor Blvd. It's so close to the gate entrance. I don't mind making the walk to the corrals from there for my one race and the expo if it means easy walks home at night or mid-day. I guess, keeps us in the disney bubble a bit better. It was between that place and Park Vue and we decided to save a little extra money for any last minute gift shop/expo splurges. I hope we made a good choice. We don't need fancy, but we like the location on the map. I hope I'm not the only indecisive hotel-swapper out there.

@roxymama I know you asked this forever ago but here is a picture of this year's pre-order jacket. Not that 2017's will look like this but so you have an idea:

I appreciate you finding these pictures! Makes me happy about my decision since black is slimming and that's a nice looking jacket. I'll just wait and see with baited breath for the real thing. Only like a million days left!!!

Keep in mind - they do change the design pretty much every year. :) But at least this gives you an idea.
Had some discussions with my husband this morning and things are looking promising for

:tinker:

Still some discussions to be had, but it's looking up. :D
squeeeeeee

Quick question about the jacket.....does it have "fleece" lining inside ??? The pre-order jacket I just purchased at the DL 1/2 is one of those tech jackets with fleece in it. It's just different than the other tech jackets that was also offered at Tink this past year which is just performance material.
(Hope that makes sense??)

I have no idea, I have never gotten one of the pre-order jackets. :)

I have never gotten one (yet) but when I was poking around for information on them, it seemed that the DL half weekend jacket was fleece lined. So I would not be surprised if this one is as well. But, unfortunately it could be hot pink and nylon and we wouldn't know until we get there??!! (eeek)

The Tinker Bell jacket does have a light fleecy-like lining in it, another reason I haven't worn it that much since I got it - again, warm and humid So Cal summer.

And yup, @roxymama - it's a mystery!

Question for you guys who have run races at DL before. I'm thinking to go ahead and book at hotel for Tink weekend that has free cancellation in case we end up not coming or the pricing for the DL hotels gets more reasonable. Anyway, I can see a lot of hotels that look to be right across the street from either Disneyland Park or California Adventures. My question is, which of those areas gets you closest to the start line for the races?

ETA: I guess I'm assuming you can walk to the start from these hotels, but is that true or do you have to take some kind of shuttle?

I wasn't there for a race, so someone who was should double check my answer. But it appears hotel on katella near Disneyland drive (or also the official hotels) are closest to the corrals. But ones on harbor near the main gate are closer to park entrance. I picked one on harbor (Tropicana) because my sis is not running and I'm running one race only, so we will have more walks to the park. If I was doing the challenge I'd have stayed closer to the corrals. I hope someone can fact check me :)
