Official 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend!

I waited in some very, very long security lines - seemed like there were 6 security guards to wand every single runner going through security!

I was a bit surprised by the bag check security. Then the security to get into downtown Disney. Then another security to get into the corrals. Took us 20 mins. Will have to plan better next race. Thankfully I didn't miss my corral.

My only complaint about the half would be the lack of post park entertainment. I was pretty disappointed that there were so few bands and no cheerleaders this year. I never realized how much that actually distracts me and helps me get through the race.
I totally agree with this! The only other half I have done at Disneyland is the Disneyland half and I remember tons of stuff going on outside the park. Today there was barely anything!

I ended up going through security by espn and it was pretty fast...the line by Paradise Pier was enormous. Maybe that's why the race started late.

Sounds like we were definitely guinea pigs for them...the "no character" thing, first time with paid volunteers and first ones through the metal detectors.

Our security check I thought was better than yesterday. Still a bit slow with just two people wanding but more organized. I think we were there a bit earlier this morning so that may have been the difference.

I've never run a DL half before and while entertainment was lacking outside the parks, we absolutely loved it. The course was fantastic - flat and some neat neighborhoods to run through. I have nothing to compare it to though so maybe had I run one before I would have been disappointed. But overall we truly loved this race weekend.

Looking at the results. Are men not given official times in the half marathon? I had no idea they weren't allowed in corral A until the announcer said it this morning.

This was my third half--second at Disneyland. We had a fun time but the security was a hassle and the on course entertainment was seriously lacking compared to my two other races. There was only one band, no cheerleaders or red hat ladies, etc. my friend who did the Tink last year said it was completely different. I wonder if some of those city issues that have possibly bogged down the light side registration spilled over into this race? Either that or maybe it's a comp ticket issue? The rumor I heard was that the red hat ladies didn't come because Disney took away the comp tickets? Anyway, disappointing especially for dd17s first race :(

Ahh, sorry your daughter was disappointed with the race! I was thinking about it too and I'm kinda happy I did this race alone -- I personally enjoyed (most) of it because I've done other Disney races, but the lack of entertainment all around would've definitely made my friends question why I pressured them so much into signing up ...

This was my second Disney Half -- Super Hero Weekend was my first. I'm happy they didn't include Angels Stadium as part of the route, but as others mentioned -- not as much entertainment as before (or at least I think Super Heros had a bunch ... my favorite part was after the stadium with all the other people dressed as super heroes cheering everyone on :) I got all teary eyed lol.

Saw this on facebook... really are these people adults?! Makes me think these are the very peole rundisney was trying to use as an excuse for removing characters. I think if peole act this way, they should be an automatic ban from all rundisney events. I know kids that would act better. You may be upset but no reason to act that way for something that is your fault. Even if you feel its not your fault, its not valid excuse to act like a spoiled brat.

" I enjoyed today. I didn't have a problem with the line getting to the corrals, every cast member, volunteer, medical staff and event runner were all fun to talk to and really nice. I was swept and probably one of the few people ok with that because I was falling behind no point in arguing my watch is more accurate than the event timers. I too have done this over the last 4 years and I know how it goes. What I found truly disgusting were the runners who were swept and were yelling profanities at people that had nothing to with it because they were mad and needed to take it out on someone and the cast members just took it from them. There was no need for that kind of behavior."

They can't win any awards at Tinkerbell or Princess

Were the metal detectors done differently for tink vs light side? Detectors were in place for light side but not an issue.

There was only an issue leaving from the half when they were telling everyone to go through until some security told anyone wearing a bib to just come through. But that was leaving and therefore entering DTD.

I figured it out, didn't realize there's a whole other results page for the men.

Yep.

Ok I need another tutorial on how to link our bib numbers to photopass.
I've been doing it through the app and this is how I do it - I assume it's similar for the website?

Open Disneyland app

Click on your avatar

Scroll down to My Photos
Link PhotoPass
Link Photo, Card or Purchase
Enter an ID

2017-TINK-B5Kx-xxxx for 5K
2017-TINK-10Kx-xxxx for 10K
2017-TINK-HLFx-xxxx for half
2017-TINK-KIDx-xxxx for kids races

Where xxxxx is your race bib number (with a 4-digit number, add a zero before your number. I.e. Bib number 1234 goes in as 01234)

Yep.
I didn't go to Light Side.

Has anyone had Castle photos posted from the half? I think those are the only ones I'm missing - the others loaded so quickly! I think I just need to be patient...
