Official 2017 Star Wars - Light Side Half Marathon Weekend (Jan 12th - 15th, 2017)

I recommend getting there early. I left my hotel (hojo) later than I wanted (4:45-4:50) and with bag check so far from the corrals and then the huge crowds walking to the corrals and just the sheer size of the corrals, I ended up having to run and made it in the middle of the national anthem. Stressful! :scared:
Are you at Hojo again?

Is 5am the latest we should be in our corral?
Ditto what others said. Before they added the security checks I got to my corral at 5:15 one year and it was fine but with the new checks I wouldn't chance it. I've never encountered an issue with corrals being full but I have read of it happening at other races and people having to fall back onto layer corrals.

I'll be there Saturday night, but currently homeless for Friday night (sprung the Rebel Challenge on my husband late). But my friend is also running the rebel challenge and she offered me a room for the 10k, but she hasn't booked her hotel room yet

Let me know what time your planning to walk over Sunday morning! Maybe we can walk together!

Looked over the 10k course and love how flat it is. Will probably be a very flat and fast course - just curious how they'll do water stations.

I need to put the half into map my run to see elevation gains. I'm sure it's flat but you never know!!

Yay! Will be perfect for my daughter!

Yes, just to make sure you have time to get there safely and calmly.

Every year I see people rushing to make their corrals and do you really want that added stress before you run 13 miles? You could be forced to move back corrals as well which just adds to the stress as well.

Only running the 10K, but certainly don't want to add stress to the morning. This is more for DH's benefit as he is the one I have to drag out of bed when we're on vacation. DD2 and I are early birds. If we had our way, we'd be out the door for every rope drop. Unfortunately, we are hampered by DH & DD1 who like to sleep in. Gah!

Eagerly awaiting the corrals assignments for the 10K. NOT that it really changes anything, but it just means that we're getting closer to the race! Yay!

As an FYI, runDisney doesn't usually release corral assignments for the 10k early. You'll be able to see your bib number when waivers are available but won't know what corral that number corresponds to until you pick up your bib at the expo.

Ok - good to know!

Based on those numbers, I'm guessing Corral I for the 1/2, which I'm fine with. Only time I felt my corral was too slow for my slow pace was last year's 10K.

I still feel like people are getting in better corals than they should just so they can take pictures.
I agree also. But I can also say that 9 times out of 10 I run slower during runDisney halfs than I do during other halfs. Mainly its because runDisney is the only time I run a 10k the day before the half. The other reason is that I am enjoying my time in the parks which I dont do at other races. So though my PR and POT are in line for 2:45, I'm just shooting for sub 3:00 at Star Wars usually.

I did PR at Tink this year but I also didn't run the 10k the day before. So thats the exception to the rule for me.

How strange that it's 2:50 and under for G. Even with the 2:45 POT you're still not in your own special corral.

Guessing I'll be in G for the half. Probably a or b for the 10k since I registered separately.

You'll have an idea of where you're placed based upon the time registered. 9 minutes and under are usually corral A (maybe corral B for 9-10 mins). Obviously 14 minutes to 15 minutes will be the last corral.

Hubs and I put ourselves in the 9 minute mile group, so we're anticipating numbers that fall into the end of A or beginning of B, just like with Avengers. For tink, we were in C with a 12 minute mile estimated pace for the 10K.
