I know that but try booking be our guest for 13 people at 180 days out.
If you want any chance to get Be Our Guest, having a resort reservation so that you can book more then 180 is the way to go. That is what I have done as well.

You may not need a resort reservation for ADR, but you do if you want to book for your whole trip 180 days out. For a 10 night stay, you can book your dining for all 10 days starting from 180 days before Day 1 of your stay.
If you're not staying onsite, then you have to wait to book each day 180 days before. So for 10 days with 1 table service meal per day, that's 10 days of logging in or calling up to try and get your reservation.
Not impossible, but certainly harder to get the reservation as others staying onsite have had access to your dining day for 10 days prior.
Yes. This exactly.

.....and then there are those folks that book an additional resort reservation 5-7 days prior to their "real" arrival date just to get a jump on booking ADRs for the first few days of their trip. Then cancel the placeholder reservation. Have seen it talked about on here many times over the years.

Sorry off topic but do you like sports more? And if so why? We are booked at music. I couldn't see the difference in spending an extra $200 for POP or Movies even though Movies looks cuter. I figured that is 1 signature meal. But have been worried about this. Only stayed one time onsite - CSR
We have stayed at Sports and Music, and really liked both. We currently have a reservation at Sports. Movies has historically been excluded from the Fall FD offer, so I didn't want to pick that as I'm hoping for FD with the rest of you! (But yes, Movies does look cuter!) We are looking for the most economical option. . .

People do many things to get their ADRs. I booked our stay at the time that we want to be there so that I could get my ADRs. If I get free dining, I will be booking a new reservation for the exact same days and canceling my old one. If I cant get FD at all, then I will just keep my original reservation. I have found over the years if you wait to book any dining reservation until FD is announced and your vacation is less then 180 days out, that we can not get the restaurants and times we want.

The PH alone increase was about $43 on mine.....hmmmm?

I don't have park hopper. Won't add it unless I get free dining and need to. I don't know how many people you have I'm sure it's right I'm just surprised it could be that much. I price trips all the time and saw a couple hundred dollar bump but nothing like $600.

This is good to know. I did not know this so now I'm even more glad that we picked Music. Us too.

I've heard a lot of things never heard that before. Lol. I've booked hard stuff (bog first week open) but always got what I wanted without hoops like that. Kind of takes the sport out of it. Lol.

I was sorry this year when they made the Park Hopper the first mandatory upgrade then the water parks as a second optional upgrade. We currently have a FD BB booked with a water park upgrade. I'm guessing this will be the last time that happens.

While Park Hoppers are good most times of the year, we travel in September and find it difficult to PH as the parks close earlier. During our 8 days the MK closes at 7pm 4 of those days. :( Hoping they consider this and change the offer....but am almost positive that's not going to happen! I believe if/when FD comes out, purchasing PH will be mandatory.

Now see, that's when I want the PH. Go to MK on party days during the day and hop somewhere else for the evening. This allows me to do all the attractions at MK with somewhat shorter waits since guests don't like "wasting" a day at MK when it closes early. Then, I hop back to MK on a night without the party just for the fireworks. Those non-party days/nights at MK are CROWDED!

I have a 12 day resort reservation; if free dining comes out in the middle of it will I have to make two different reservations? Also does anyone know when I modify my existing reservation to free dining would I have to cut my days down if FD falls in the middle of the dates then rebook the first part of my trip? Sometimes I think this stuff is just too complicated...

I tend to agree. We barely use our PH anymore other than to grab dinner at Epcot.

How would it work for a 14 night stay?
