Just remember when deciding where to stay and if already booked if you should stay where you are or change resorts, if you booked before ticket increases and only booked base tickets you will have to pay the difference in ticket prices from when you booked and the new prices(since you are changing your reservation) and if they do what they've done the last 2 years require park hopper that will add onto the price. IAlso if you are staying value you get QS and you would have to pay the difference to upgrade. I just say this so people can do proper math to determine what is best for them cost wise, FD or room discount.

As Disneylover99 explained so well, its a crap shoot. People are divided on this strategy. Some swear they have great luck getting a standard room in the Mod of their choice with FD by booking ahead of time and then modifying as soon as FD drops. Others think that's crazy since on the magic day the website slows & sometimes crashes making modifying the ressie difficult and this strategy ensures WDW will phase out FD because no incentive to offer the promo when bookings look solid. But every year, people do it. Some are happy with the results. Others incredibly upset. Because of my low Cdn $ and being a solo guest, I only look at Values. I love POP and praise the efficiency of its bus system. But for me, that extra $20 US premium/night can be put to better use. So I'm good with AS Sports or even AS Music if push comes to shove. Touch wood, AS Sports has been available in the past so I just wait & see what's on offer as soon or if FD drops.

Sorry off topic but do you like sports more? And if so why? We are booked at music. I couldn't see the difference in spending an extra $200 for POP or Movies even though Movies looks cuter. I figured that is 1 signature meal. But have been worried about this. Only stayed one time onsite - CSR

no modify button
Does anyone who booked a BB have a modify button? The last few years I always booked online and had one but this year with the BB I don't. It doesn't matter because I'm already planning on just booking another reservation and canceling but just curious if all BBs are excluded from modifying online.

I was informed by a CM that "when" free dining is offered and if my dates fall within the time period that I would also keep the price of the original reservation, I booked before the price increases and now for the same package I have it's more than $600 more than what I have booked now...so that's one advantage of booking early....maybe.....but I'll believe what I was told if and when it actually is time to modify it.

What was the increase on?

We stayed at sports and really liked it. The pro is that when it shares busses it's the first stop. Music is second and movies is third. My parents have stayed at music and said it was nice. At sports I had requested a standard football room. Very close to food and busses and no extra fees! I also felt that it was much quieter than pop. We were there in September though. I've heard it can get rowdy when sports teams stay there during the school year.

I wouldn't have even booked but going middle of September I had to so I could start making dining reservations.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you don't actually need a resort reservation to make ADRs. The calendar for each restaurant opens 180 days before that specific date. You just need a credit card, you don't even need to be staying on property. You DO need a reservation for Fastpass+.

I know that but try booking be our guest for 13 people at 180 days out.

We loved Sports for the same reasons. First on and off buses. We were in Touchdown Building 10 and it was just a short walk on a little path through the trees to the bus stop. It was great!

You may not need a resort reservation for ADR, but you do if you want to book for your whole trip 180 days out. For a 10 night stay, you can book your dining for all 10 days starting from 180 days before Day 1 of your stay.
If you're not staying onsite, then you have to wait to book each day 180 days before. So for 10 days with 1 table service meal per day, that's 10 days of logging in or calling up to try and get your reservation.
Not impossible, but certainly harder to get the reservation as others staying onsite have had access to your dining day for 10 days prior.

Exactly I have a 9 night stay I've got everything I wanted booked on the 180 day mark from day one.

I've currently got a reservation for a week starting on November 4. I'm certainly not counting on it, but out of curiosity: what's the likelihood that my stay will overlap with FD? Just wondering if it's worth getting my hopes up!

It doesn't sound promising from what rumors have been spoken of, but we are all hopeful for everyone getting free dining on the dates they want!!!

Thank you! We won't be eating at resort and take our own car to parks and too cold for pool so really I don't think it matters to much on resort for us but really glad someone likes music! Lol.
