Official 2016 Star Wars Half Marthon - The Dark Side Weekend

They put out more merch daily... even this afternoon, more will be put of the shelves. I've been going to these for years. It's amazing how everyone freaks out about the merch and I've seen 1 or 2 items sell out.

I have run 10 RunDisney events over the last few years and went as a spectator several years before that. The 2015 Goofy challenge magnets and the half were completely sold out early Friday morning. That was nuts. I was talking with the RunDisney folks about it. The same time my daughter had pulled up EBay and showed RD officials what was on eBay and how much more they were asking. This year's Princess Half Marathon was the only event to have items left at the close of the expo on the final Saturday.

I ran the inaugural Light Side last year and wasn't able to get to the expo until Saturday morning. There seemed to be still quite a bit of merchandise left over from what I remember, including Dooneys, pins, magnets, glasses (I think pub glasses?), and shirts. I don't know how that will translate to this race weekend, but it was also Star Wars, also an inaugural event. Granted, it didn't have the momentum generated by a new and well-received movie, but you'd think that it would attract the same sort of runDisney/Star Wars fans.

Guess everything will be gone by today. Only thing i wanted were a large mouse ear magnet for the challenge events. It Stinks because I won't get there until tomorrow afternoon.

I don't even want to look on eBay to see what they are asking for the merchandise.

Not everything. I talked to a couple of personnel there and kessel pins, for example, are completely sold out and no restocking

That's what I was told for the 10k magnets, as well. There were plenty of 1/2 and Challenge magnets when I left though.

Dooney people - I am NOT HAPPY that the bags they have at the expo are NOT what was advertised! The stock photo for the letter carrier bag I pre-ordered is a leather bag with leather corners. What they have at the expo are nylon bags with no leather corners! I don't really want a nylon bag and now I'm thinking about just trying to get my $$ back (though I'll probably have to eat the Active fees). Not cool.

I almost packed my lightsaber in my luggage, instead of my carry-on! I wouldn't have had it at the Expo!

Merch in bib building is the same as expo. More RunDisney stuff though.
Went back hours later and most stuff was restocked. Less crowded too.

Did they ever say the bag was entirely leather? Normally they are coated cotton or nylon with leather straps, piping and corners. If they were all leather they would have been more expensive than what was posted.

I saw that about the corners...really weird! I think you are right that you would eat the Active.com fees. Not sure if you're in any of the Dooney Facebook groups but you could easily sell through there, I'm sure, and get your money back (through PayPal).

No, he has to pick it up himself. They used to let people pick up for others but they stopped that a year or two ago.

No they didn't, I guess I assumed it based on the leather corners pictured. I haven't seen any nylon Dooney's with the leather corners, ah well...maybe I'll love it in person and change my mind

This actually makes me happy. I prefer the nylon/coated canvas for a park bag. I might have to stop by the Dooney booth tomorrow!

I hope you love it, that would stink to pay all that money and NOT love it. I don't know why they can't put up proper pictures or more thorough descriptions when the bags cost that much...

I saw people with two wrist bands - one for c2c and one for Kessel...I only got one but that's because I got my C2c in Disneyland for doing Marathon + Light Side. So if someone did Light Side + Princess then they would have already received a C2C and now they are doing Dark Side and would get the Kessel.....so where does the extra C2C come from?

Even if they did Marathon + Light Side + Princess + Dark Side then that still only equates to one C2c and Kessel

Well the 10k and 5k specific merch is few and far between. The dooneys are the water resistant nylon which is good for a park bag. The wristlets are cute but the pattern gets cut off because it is small. Official merch looks awesome though!

My parents are there now and looks like most merchandise is available. They had still had banners at $50 I know for sure she said(they ended up not getting one though, maybe it was smaller than my mom thought cause she liked it ahead of time). No crazy lines either as far as I know.

So if someone did Light Side + Princess then they would have already received a C2C and now they are doing Dark Side and would get the Kessel.....so where does the extra C2C come from?

That's interesting. You'll probably need to ask a CM in the registration area.

This year they specifically said you can get more than one medal at each race and a race can count for more than one medal.

Light Side(Cali) + Dark Side(WDW) = C2C
Light Side + Dark Side (just Star Wars) = Kessel Run

In 2016 they changed the requirements and you can use the same race for two different challenges. At Tink I will get the blue C2C and the pink C2C since I ran WDW Half and Glass Slipper
