Official 2016 Star Wars Half Marthon - The Dark Side Weekend

Do you need to stand in that line even if you are only going to pick up your shirts? My plan for tomorrow was to hit the merchandise first thing, exit the building to get my bib, and then come back in to get my shirts and gear bag. As popular as these things have become I am surprised that RD has not figured out a way to set up one huge tent that would just be for race merchandise. They have plenty of space out there to do it.
This is Disney - where would you not wait in a line?

Merch and bibs are different buildings and bibs lines are usually short

The answer is 'loss control'. The more spread out it becomes the more difficult it will be to monitor.

I know bib pickup is in a different building, but you still need to go to the other building for shirts and gear bag. That's my point. I want to get merchandise first, then go pick up my bib. Once that is done, I just want to go and get my shirts and gear bag. I assume that bug line is to control entrance into the building period, and you easily cannot just go back in to get your shirts.

This is encouraging me more and more to just stop caring about the official merchandise and hit the expos at, like, 2:30 PM or something. Madness!!

I stopped caring a long time ago if I get something or not. All the photos are making me glad I decided to sit out all together. No way I would have been able to deal with that crap with the way I'm feeling right now. Plus although pup is feeling much better she is still on meds so I really don't trust our regular dog sitter to be able to give her meds.

Yeah, I treat these as "Relaxing, except when I'm Running" weekends, so the crazed expo vibe doesn't mesh with that. I'll stroll in there tomorrow afternoon, see what's still available, (probably complain online about what's sold out - I'm only human), and be happy with what I get. :teeth:

Total crap...I get here at 10am and ALL Kessel Run Pins are COMPLETELY sold out. And thats not the only thing sold out. Unbelievable.

For Princess the pick up for challenge shirts was in the same building as the bibs. Does any one know if that is the case today? I really don't think I want to attempt that expo line.

:( Hope you and the pup are feeling better soon!

Exactly - I need to adopt that mindset. It's just stuff, and I only get so much Disney time...it's already time consuming enough going to the expos (especially at WDW), don't want to add another hour or two waiting in lines!

Looks like it! Page 14 of the program: http://as1.wdpromedia.com/media/rundisney/star-wars-wdw-half-marathon/SWHM16_WDW_Program_Online.pdf

Seems like the best strategy might be to try and get to the expo before all the resort buses start dropping hordes of people off. We're driving down today and staying at Pop Century tonight, so we should be able to get to the Expo ahead of a lot of the people tomorrow morning. Looks like resort transportation starts at 8:30 tomorrow morning.

I am not looking to get anything that I think would be in high demand so hopefully I can find something I want.

What about the merchandise area in the Field House where bib pickup is? It shows it on the map. Any Star Wars stuff in there, or is that just generic RD merchandise?

I am very happy that I preordered a Dooney, a jacket and the pins. That should be enough. ;-)

Also, I can't remember if I mentioned it in this thread but there was an option to have "I did it" tees printed on demand at the race last time. In case they sell out.

SO glad I decided to do the VIP pick up thing. I don't like to buy any of the stuff so I just have to go there to grab my number - I hate dealing with crowds like that and losing park/family time just for my bib!

Some explain this to me....i saw people signing to get BOTH c2c and Kessel run, is this because of princess participants. Must be

Where is BB-8 at in relation to things? Saw someone posted a picture on FB that he is at the Expo for photos all weekend for runners and their guests. Must have a bib to enter the line.
