Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

I counted wrong and thought my ADR day was tomorrow, but it is Friday like many of you. I find it funny I will be making my reservations for this trip before my reservations for my November 12-15 Avengers race weekend reservations. Its only 60 days ahead out at DL. Right now my POT plan is a race on 9/13 but I have back ups in mind in October if that doesn't go well. As a last resort I can use the Avengers 10k for POT but with Disney crowds I assume that won't be terrific. But it would be better than nothing.

I've only ever submitted 1 POT, say I run the 9/13 race and do good enough I submit the time, but then I do a second 10k and do better can I enter a POT again? I assume so but wanted to check. If not I will wait until closer to the cut-off to submit to be sure of the result.
Yes, you can do that. :)

You can keep resubmitting up until the deadline. I always submit one right away, just in case life gets in the way of me running a new race.

I won't have a proof of time to submit until the wine and dine- do you guys know how long RD takes to get the official times up online? The W/D half is on 9 Nov 15. That gives me only 6 days to use it as a proof of time and I'm nervous. I DO NOT want to start Princess way back in the back, but my 10k time has improved since my July 10k so I don't really want to use that time either. I'm averaging about 4-5 minutes faster on a 10k now. I expect that my times will continue to improve through November.

Is 6 days going to be enough time to still use my W/D run?

I *know* I have to hit Trader Sam's at some point because the Pearl drink (and souvenir cup) is MINE. Might go after the 10K so I can have that and a Hippopotamaitai (not with the souvenir glass because I have one).

BOG lunch, yum. POR and AOA build your own pasta but of course those aren't TS. Sanaa is sooo good. Brown Derby for after the 10K to refuel; the tofu noodle bowl is so good. I added some others to my "notes" on the Itinerary page on MDE, but I can't log in right now. Grr at the website and at myself for not writing it down on paper.

You had me a drink...and souvenier cup. lol.
Pasta is just the icing on the whole thing :D

They will have them up almost immediately, but there have been cases where the times were not correct for whatever reason. It's rare, but it happens.

As @Ariel484 said, it is almost immediate. I have always been able to see mine by the time I get back to the hotel. One bit of advice, that I will be using myself if I decide I may want to use my Avengers time (which is a week after Wine and Dine!) is to sign up for runner tracking for yourself or have someone meeting you at the finish sign up. Of course you either need to be someone who runs with his/her own phone, or have someone waiting for you at the finish that has a phone. I did it this year for GSC. You will get a text when you start, and at various distances on the course. For the 10k it was at the 5k and finish. For the half it gives updates at the 5k, 10k, 15k and finish. When you are done, if the time seems off, you can go immediately to runner relations for assistance on how to get it corrected.

From reports I've seen problems with timing are rare, but if you want to use the time for POT shortly after the race, its better to take care of any problems face to face while you can. For instance, last year the 10k and to a lesser degree the half had cold starts. People had mylar blankets to stay warm. Some runners who wore them over the starting mats had the timing chip fail to register. Also, there are occasional issues with the chips registering elsewhere.

UPDATE: looks like it's working! I was able to submit my time. :)

Glad POT link is working now! Thanks for letting us know. I'm waiting to my next 10k in October before submitting, but it's good to know the problem has been fixed.
Did you figure out your ADRs yet? I also can make mine on Friday and I only have a couple that would be great (one on my birthday the day of the half), other than that it's a relaxed mindset!

I'm really having trouble deciding on my ADRs this time. Very unusual for me. Only thing I'm sure of is Saturday night which is spaghetti and meatballs in our GV at Bay Lake. Decisions, decisions!

And it's true that we can submit POT and then resubmit if we get a better time before the deadline. Correct?

I THINK so. I have 6 I'm thinking of and I'm really only waffling on one of them. :)

Yep!

Yep!

Great thanks! I just submitted the time from my most recent 10k from July, just in case. I'd rather have something than nothing. But I'm really hoping to make an improvement from the recent race for a multitude of reasons (improving myself, and potential better corral placement). In looking at last year's corrals and based on my July 10k I think I'd be in Corral F or G. A girl can aim for D or E!

I'm with you. The only time I could submit now will likely put me in F, which is where I've been assigned the last 2 years, it was fine, but I REALLY want to make it into D or even E. I started in I this year because I dropped back to start with a friend. Not repeating that this year, and really want to start further up. I feel confident I can improve my time to get to E, but D is my real goal. I think I can, I think I can ;)

Join us at Trader Sam's! :)

Just remembered I've always wanted to try the LapuLapu. Hmm, think I'll need a cab home from the Poly on one tremendously awesome evening. :)
The drinks I've tried at Trader Sam's were, in my opinion, WAY better than the LapuLapu.

so, I'm thinking of attempting this two ways. One, get to a ten minute mile (which I've done alreadey) and add one more each month until six. Or, two, run/walk all 6.2 to see how long it takes me, and then start working on cutting down the time until race day. Any thoughts...

Passionate Python, FTW!
That's actually one I haven't tried yet!!

I'd say focus on distance first, then speed.

What's the furthest you've gone so far? When you have a race of a certain distance, it is important to train for the distance safely, before you worry too much about speed. Trying to go too fast to quickly is a recipe for injury (I am guilty of this and paid for it). That said, as you add distance, the accompanying training will naturally make your shorter times faster - not a ton, but a bit. once you can get through the distance comfortably, then you can add speed workouts to improve the time.

I've done GSC twice, but I had a surgery and recovery that kept me off running for months. So for my November races (Infinity Gauntlet Challenge) I'm concentrating on getting back my endurance and being able to cover the distance. After that's done I'll work on improving my speed for the GSC. In did both the 2014 and 2015 GSC with injuries, I'm determined to be healthy for 2016! Third times a charm;)
