Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

Good luck to all of us getting ADR's tomorrow. I've got 5 on my wish list. The only one I am worried about is CRT. I am hoping to take my DM and DAunt there for lunch since they have never been.

Thanks for the info on POT. It is good to know that I can submit more than one. I have a bunch of races this fall to choose from.

I'm most concerned about BOG when I do ADR's tomorrow. Beyond that the only "must have" is B&C.

I submitted a 12K that I did in May. It is the best time I have so far. It puts me at 2:32 finish time. I would like to shave a few more minutes off of that to get under 2:30. If the corrals are similar to this year that would move me up from G to F.

I don't get to make my ADRs until Saturday. BOG and Akershus are the priorities. I'm thinking breakfast at BOG on Saturday is a real long shot but it's only two of us so maybe I'll luck out.

Same. I have a couple of BOG reservations I'm hoping to get...:worried:

Interesting, I didn't know 12K was an option!

I too am trying for a BOG but if I don't I won't be crushed, there's another at Epcot my BF really wants the night before the 10k so that's our first priority one. I was looking around last night and found a bunch at all of the places we want for a few days before arrival. I got excited and then had to calm myself down because then I realized we will all converge on the World a few days later and then all bets are off. :)

Hi Friends - when thinking about ADR's - we are staying at AKL for the weekend and I was thinking about trying to get a Boma ADR for breakfast after the race - say about 10:30-10:45. Do you think that is too ambitious?

I had to change the Galloway training slightly. I'm finding that Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday just don't jive with my schedule. I'm now doing faster, shorter intervals on Monday and Friday with the long run on Wednesday. Yesterday I did 2.5 miles with running 8 minutes and walking five. I'm hoping to go to 9 minutes next week. I actually felt like I could keep going this week but I didn't want to get too ambitious too soon. I managed to do a 14 minute mile by walking faster and running slower. My goal is a 12 minute mile by the 10k.

I was surprised too. I'm doing a 10 miler next weekend. I also have a 10k and 2 half marathons scheduled for the next few months.

BOG is on my maybe list, but if I don't get it I'm not going to be too upset. My DD has requested Les Chefs for one night and we are doing one night at DTD.

I would say tweek the schedule to the days that work for you. When our running coach gave us a training schedule DH switched his long run to midweek since he is usually flying on the weekends. I think bottom line as long as you get long runs in at some point during a seven day period you will be fine !

POT for the Half from rundisney: Use "10K, 12K, 15K, 10 Mile, Half Marathon or Marathon".

Which race? How fast do you anticipate being? Are you a person who hangs around the finish, or do you get going quickly? When you go back to change, do you take an hour long shower after a run, or are you quick? etc etc. Only you know your timing, or what you want your timing to be. If you've done events before you have an idea of what your body needs or what you can push it to do. If not and you're still working up to the mileage and knowing how you are post-long-run, then it's something to shoot for!

Since I'm staying at Bay Lake I'm anticipating The Wave for a nice breakfast after the 10K (doing the 5 and 10, no Half this time thankfully). Not as difficult to get as Boma, I'm sure!

ADR-wise, I hadn't given it much thought until everyone started posting! (thank you to all who posted!) :) So, I'll be offsite for quite a few days before we check-in to CSR - CM GoGo is requesting Narcoossee's. That will be our celebratory "We Did It!" dinner :) and I hope to book it when my window opens on Sunday!

I too was looking at Narcoosee's for Sunday dinner. Late enough to watch the lagoon light parade and fireworks at the Kingdom. But maybe I'll try for Sat and move satisfy the attitude of significant other to try and score Chef Mickey's for Sunday. Did I mention he's 57?:sad2:
