Official 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread

Mine is the same way! He really prefers DL right now. He's only running the 5 and 10 this year because he has to work in Marina del Ray and would rather tour breweries on Saturday after the 10 than prep for the Half. I just love Disneyland weekend so much.

So just got the airplane tickets, mom had united miles and they had the super saver miles available so we booked them before they went away. We are flying into LAX, hopefully that is not to much a pain and we will be flying back out of Orange County. How much do taxes normally cost from these airports vs doing a shuttle?

For me the worst part of LAX is the anticipation. I've been on an airplane for five hours, I'm in California, and now I need to sit in a shuttle for at least another hour before we are close?!?! It can be maddening. lol

I have always taken Super Shuttle (using the discount code I found on the boards). Being a solo traveler, a taxi is cost prohibitive. That being said, I did miss my Super Shuttle after the inaugural Dumbo Double Dare, and I think the taxi I took to Orange County was about $45.

For anyone looking to get registered early and avoid the stress of registration day, Acclaim Travel is selling bibs for all races right now. It turned out I was going to have meetings all day Tuesday, so I got my DDD entry through them to avoid the uncertainty.

And it looks like no ticket or hotel stay is required!

I can confirm that I did not have to purchase either a ticket or hotel (although I am going to need both eventually). Now if Southwest would just get around to releasing the flights around that weekend!!

Hmmm tempting. But is it worth an additional $49 on top of the increase in race fees that rundisney implemented. Decisions.. Decisions

I don't think the added cost is quite that much. The instructions say that you will get a pre-paid registration link from Active. So, if "pre-paid" actually means "pre-paid" all Active fees should be included. Based on previous race entries, the Active processing fee should be around $23-25. So it's really only a $25 or so premium over the direct registration cost. The other nice thing that may or may not appeal to folks is that these registrations are refundable (minus a $50 processing fee) until 7/3/16 where direct registrations with runDisney are totally non-refundable AND they limit deferral spots.

I just looked at my Active receipt - I paid $373.25 for DDD on Tuesday during early registration. So, you're basically paying $21 for peace of mind and a possible chance for a refund (not a deferral) if you change your mind or something happens. Personally, I don't think that's terrible at all.

I have never purchased a bib through a TA before...is this how it typically works? You receive a "pre-paid registration link."

Yup. It basically looks like your regular RunDisney/Active registration form, but when you get to the page where you're supposed to enter credit card information, instead it just tells you your registration is complete. You get all the normal emails from both RD and Active - you just don't pay for the registration when you fill out the form!

So you still have the option of ordering pins, jackets, and such when you fill out the form?

P.S. Thank you for answering my millions of questions. :)

Ahhh, nope. HOWEVER. Lemme see if I can find it - there will be a "More Magic" page on Active.com where you can purchase add-ons, like pins, etc. You can purchase those at any time, though they've generally been "selling out" a month or so after general registration.

When I purchased GSC through a TA link you could still pre purchase items. The link does come some days AFTER normal registration- you are part of their group.

Does anyone have a good DL race recap I could share with a friend?
Trying to recruit more people to the cult of Run Disney!

You can read my Dumbo Double Dare report in my signature. Sometimes the pictures don't load as I just uploaded them straight to here, which I guess wasn't the best way at the time. Otherwise, I just google and lots pup up, I like her's here http://noguiltlife.com/tag/disneyland-half/

Thanks for the tip about purchasing through Acclaim. I purchased my bib for Dumbo and 5K through them this morning. Yikes. I'm excited but so nervous. I'm running a local 10K in April but otherwise these are my first events ever and also my first RunDisney events!

I'm feeling a bit crazy at the moment. But, got to take full advantage of my year of Disneyland and the AP I got in November and also, achieve some fitness and health goals! :)
