Just wondering if anyone has flown into Lakeland airport, and what your experience has been. Avelo flies into this airport from Wilmington, Delaware now on Sunday. Always looking to add another day to our trip.

As has been said on these boards many times talking about the LCC and ULCC airlines, when everything goes well, they're fine. When anything goes wrong, it's impossible to recover. Have you looked into transportation costs from LAL to WDW? And availability? I don't think it's going to be as easy to get an Uber from Lakeland as it is from MCO or Sanford. What is your back up plan if your flight down is cancelled? Your flight home? With legacy airlines that isn't as important to think about because they will get you where they are supposed to, it just may take a while or an extra stop or two. But with the LCC and ULCCs, the next scheduled flight may not be for four days, and may not have space.

Current lyft price from Lakeland airport to MCO is around, $90, 90 minute drive. Last minute fares are likely to be expensive.

Avelo fare would have to be almost free, JMO, to consider using them.

I had a great experience on the inaugural flight actually. MCO was way more expensive in comparison. Lakeland was like $270 for two with tax, bags, and Lyft cost. wasn’t nearly as bad as a $300+ before tax, Lyft, and bags round trip from MCO.

Avelo is contracting with ICE to supply charter flights. This gives Avelo a source of profitable revenue. It's also resulted in some interest in boycotting the airline.

Avelo, like other ULCC airlines drop routes, sometimes with relatively short notice. Low load factors are the primary reason. It remains to be seen if boycotting will have enough of a factor, a few areas, to impact schedules.

Can't speak for the airline. Budget airlines can have some budget woes but this is true for much larger airlines today that may only offer 2 flights a day. If you have concerns of flying on time anywhere I would choose the airline that has the most flights.
We somehow ended up near that airport driving from Tampa airport for Lunch. If you rent a car it is very easy to drive to I-4 straight to Disney should be around 45-60 minutes but what from what I recall it was under 45. No tolls if you take the exit near DS very close to Riv and BW etc.
