Official 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread

I think the change from ON HOLD to SOLD OUT is how long it takes Active to process payment. I JUST received a payment receipt from Active for a 5K registration I made 8 minutes after registration opened.

That's what I figured. I'd be less aggravated if I'd never gotten into the registration. It's that it glitched me out instead of going to the payment screen after I was in right on time.

at 9:55am PST DDD showed sold out for DVC, so i am only registered for the half. My DH and myself really wanted to try the DDD but I was at the gym at 9am when reg. started, oh well. Can anyone tell me how they know if you are doing the coast to coast challenge? We are doing the Star Wars dark side in april and doing the disneyland one in sept so we could get the coast to coast medal too. We aren't that seasoned at how it works yet, our first half was the 2015 disneyland half which is when we decided we wanted to do coast to coast in 2016.

Instead of 3:05 or 3:15 or whatever it used to be, now you only have to submit PoT if you think you are going to finish in less than 2:45.

I am submitting POT anyway. lol. The RunDisney site still says 3.15. Hopefully it will still count for something.

Although, there is obviously wrong info there because someone did not update their cut and paste when they updated the site:

"If you believe you will finish the Half Marathon in less than 3:15 hours, proof of time is required for start corral placement. Star Wars Rebel Challenge participants should adhere to Half Marathon proof of time requirements."

Right? Go figure, rD doing something at the last minute and messing up.

Also, another question. Have people successfully returned and/or gotten their AP discount on preordered merchandise? Jacket, pins, etc?

I just registered for the DL Half. I was in the right (?) place at the right time. Don't know what I was thinking, but this will be my first half and first runDisney event. Totally starting to second guess what I've done!!!!

Congrats !! Don't second guess what you've done.....you'll have a fun time.

Yes - I pre-ordered the Dooney last year and then got in another line to return and then re-buy it to get the AP discount. You don't get the Active.com fees back, but it's something.

Yes, you can do that. I do that all the time with the jackets. The volunteers at the pre-order pick up tables expect it; it can be a substantial savings.

I got in for the DDD.... but I couldn't get my wife in.. Will have to try again next Tuesday for open reg. I'm freaking out. Any advice to help make sure my marriage continues in its "Happily Every After"?

I saw something on the front page of this about a "backdoor link" to the active registration... any word on that? Can anyone clear up how it would work?

So will general admission go faster or slower than the presale since there will be more bibs in general but more people?

1. Your handle makes me hungry. I loved Texadelphia!
2. I'll post the link later this week - basically, just bookmark that and be ready to go right at 12 P.M. EST and you should be totally fine! Today's registration is just a SMALL portion of overall spots. Like, for DDD - based on last year's entrants, there were maybe 50-55 spots available for early registration. There should be over 5000 next Tuesday when registration opens!

Man with the speed I am soo worried, I feel like a newb disney person, which I have not been in a long time. But I am new to this whole disneyrun events. If I do not get the 10k, I cannot do the 5k since it is on Friday and mom said she will not do a 1/2 marathon, so this is our only shot. Should mom do hers separately of mine? I was going to do it for her since she is more tech challenged, but it looks like you can only do one person before the event runs out, right?
Thanks for all the help :)

Just be online right at Noon EST and you'll be OK. There were roughly 40 10k slots available today, which means there will be another 4000 next week.

I cannot stress this enough - if you MUST have a registration and are nervous about waiting for general registration, I would contact a TA today. You can get a guaranteed bib, though some will require either an additional purchase of a 1 day/1 park ticket, a hotel stay or both.

Personally, I have used Acclaim, Get Sports and Magical Miles and have had wonderful experiences with all three.

You will each need your own Active.com accounts - definitely set them up ahead of time. This is a change that runDisney made about a year ago.

But like @Keels said, make sure to be ready right at noon EST. I'd suggest using 2 separate machines...and I think if today told us anything, it's that the 10K will fill up first. So just be ready! :)

Yup - husband didn't even have a shot at the 10k and he got onto the page at 11:01 CST - it was already on hold.

My guess is 10K/DDD will go within 15-20 minutes, the 5K will hang on about an hour or so, and then it's a real crapshoot to see what happens with Kids Races and the Half Marathon.

DDD is going to be a popular choice for newbies from Marathon Weekend going Coast-to-Coast.
