"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

We are going to be there Oct 14-19 We are going to a party on 15th and going to try for a second on Sunday 18th. Thursdays tickets are bought but waiting for funds for the second party :) I am working crazy hard on our costumes. I finished my daughters costume it took me 8 months. Finished My son's.

Wowza! Those costumes are AMAZING!

This will be our first trip ever, Going the week of 10/25, and are on a pretty tight budget. Some have told us it's not worth the added expense, and others say it's a not-to-be-missed event! What to do!?

Read a couple of party reviews from last year, either here or Disney Tourist Blog has a detailed one. Look at the party specific things and see if there is anything on there that would make it 'worth it' to your family. Like most thing, what one person loves, isn't going to suit another, so realistically only you can decide if it's something your family will enjoy.

Personally we love it! If we were on a tight budget we would look at other ways of cutting back on the trip so that we could afford party tickets! We'd swap a couple fo TS meals for QS... that type of thing.

Just remember you'll have an amazing trip, with or without party tickets! On a first trip especially, there is so much to see/do that you won't really feel like you are 'missing out' if you decide not to attend the party!

I think you are totally right. Maybe for future trips. But if we get closer and the budget allows perhaps we will try to get tickets for one of the days we are there :-)

Still working on my own and others in our group. But they are Electrical light Parade inspired. I hope was dinner at BOG and pictures with the Beast :( but today was my 180 day and couldn't get that for ANY day of our trip... Why isn't it open during the party? If that's the only time I'd get I'd take a break during the party to eat there! Here is the video of my dd dress: give it a few seconds it takes a minute for all the lighting boards to turn on :

Let me know if anyone has ideas to get reservations or know if anyone is giving them up!

If I was going to the party you're going to, I would just stare at those costumes. They're absolutely incredible! Great job! I'm infinitely envious of your skills.

I love your costumes, your children look so lovely and happy.

Thanks Guys :) I want to work for Disney's costuming department. I'm all self taught so I'm hoping to use these costumes as application pieces since I have my college degree in business not fashion or costuming... I'm working on Mine currently.. Sleeping Beauty with Fiber Optic Fabric. Fiber Optics are woven through the fabric and the ends are connected to LED lights. I also have hidden speakers, I made sound clips from the movie of the fairies fighting over the color of her dress and so the sound effects board triggers with like "Oh No! Not Pink! Make it BLUE!" And the dress changes colors :) Fabric was expensive so I'm doing a shorter dress instead of the traditional long one but other than that same style. I figure it cant hurt if the costumes draw attention since my dream is to work for Disney! But I still want to get Pictures in be our guest... I'm signed up for Dinning Buddy trying to snag a reservation. As a last resort I'll still try walk up. Maybe if the cast members see my kids amazing costumes they still might try and squeeze us in.

We went in 2012 my kids where cinderella and prince charming. It was midnight and party was closing. We walked by Pooh and his friends where my daughter points and goes "MOM! Its Pigglet! Just like my Pigglet I sleep with!" (one of those stuffed animals given to her since birth) the cast members where were guarding the entrance. The characters were meeting with their last kids. My DD walked up and they were like "Sorry sweetheart its time for Pooh and his friends to go to bed. But you look addorable" She looked at them with big doe eyes and said "Thank you, I understand." The cast member held her hand looked around said you know what and grabbed her brother walked them both up the exit. The photographers when nuts and so did the characters. They stayed out late just for my kids. And then a man was there NOT in uniform. Directing my kids and the photo pass photographer. Then had the photopass photographer step out of the way and started taking photos of his own with a Really nice camera. He also had the characters go ahead and leave had my kids pose for pictures with just them in it as well. The cast members and the photographers walked out with us and I asked who the guy was. They said all they could tell me was that he worked for Disney and that do not be surprised if I see pictures they took used anywhere blogs or advertisements. Never have see them used but still an awesome experience.
Here are a couple of the photos I had about 75 from those 30-45 mins lol Pooh was twirling her they asked her about her glass slippers. It was definition of MAGICAL! (they were ages 5 & 6. This was our first visit to DW. So when people ask if its worth is.... NOTHING compares to the memories and we can't wait to go back)395007_547669958592904_301052359_n.jpg 76237_547670285259538_869045609_n.jpg 545453_547672945259272_1171312078_n.jpg 306625_547672281926005_817372493_n.jpg

Another great post.

Just found out we are going 10/27-11/01 to Corronado springs for free because of a convention that my wife has to attend. We just need to pay for park tickets. I've always wanted to see this, so I am totally psyched! I just don't know which night would be better, 10/29 or 10/31. We will likely hit Universal for their Halloween thing but MK is first priority!

Well Halloween night will be more expensive, if that makes a difference. They will both most likely sell out though.

We are excitedly heading to WDW for the very first time on our very first family vacation! We'll be attending MNSSHP with our 3 boys (4, 2 almost 3 and 1). We'll be going as characters from Neverland :)

See you there on October 6th?

I thought about being pirates, but didn't want the polyester type costumes from the Halloween store because of the heat. I then thought I'll just buy pirate-y type clothing, too expensive! So I decide on a modified Maleficent...the Maleficent ears, with a themed tank, black shorts and black flip flops. I'll also do my eyes and lips like her. This way I'll be dressed up but not too hot.
It's a fun (and relatively comfy costume), I did that for the Villains Unleashed party at DHS.

I'm really worried about the money so much. I am worried about them selling out though! About how long before I have to really worry?
Another minor concern is the crowd level. But I guess if both nights sell out, then it doesn't much matter.

I am going to hunt you down on the 15th! Lol! I can't wait to see the rest! They are so wonderful! If you see a crazy lady approaching you with a torch (Statue of Liberty), just know that I come in peace. Lol

There won't be a schedule released prior to the event, just snippets of information as/when Disney decides to announce what is different from last year. Since you are going to the very first party you can only try to prepare by reading last years reports and reviews. They don't tend to change TOO much from year to year so you should be able to figure out a rough plan using last year's info... you'll just have to be a little more flexible.
