"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

I am the chair of our school Halloween party which is 5 days before our trip, I will have no time in October or September to create costumes. Which is a bummer as I love doing costumes and I often get a bit elaborate. So I am trying to lower my standards so I don't overwhelme myself too badly. Can you tell I love Halloween? :) I am thinking of a park attraction costume. I'd love to be the tightrope girl and dynamite man from the haunted mansion but I think he will be too hot and there's no way I am wearing ballet slippers all night :)

the nights that sell out- is it crazy packed with people? someone mentioned on fb that they could barely move it was so packed (which doesn't sound that fun to me).

You could always work on the costumes now :)
The HM costumes would be pretty sweet.

I really want someone to be Sonny Eclipse.

Maybe on Main Street for the parade and fireworks. Or so I've heard, I always watch the parade from frontierland, there are less people and I think the atmosphere is a bit spookier. All the sold out parties I've been to haven't felt that bad.

I was there on halloween and that was said to be the busiest and it wasn't really that bad, it was busy yes but not as busy as busy days are. I found the sold out christmas party to be more packed then halloween night. I was able to get good spots for parade though I ran into a lot more rude people then usual. It was quite fun that night and not at all a hinderance with all the extra crowds.

I've been going back and forth on whether to do MNSSHP on Halloween or 11/1 with our 1 year old. I'm not going to purchase tickets right away, because I want to see, as she gets older, if she will start to stay up a little later. Right now she goes to bed between 630-7 every day and gets extremely fussy at that time so if her schedule remains this way, I think we are going to pass this year and add an extra park day onto our tickets. I still plan on dressing her up but will just enjoy the park during the day and whatever resort activities that are planned.

I took my son to MNSSHP when he was 13 months. We went on the last full night of our trip, so that the next day he was good and tired and slept for most of the drive home (we live in Georgia and drive to WDW). The day of the party, we went to HS that morning until around 1:00 or so, went back to the resort for a long afternoon break, then headed to MK for the party around 6:00 or so. He lasted until around 10:30-11:00. He had a blast! Loved the fireworks and the parade and all the lights. The only time I remember him crying the entire night was during the parade when the grave diggers banged their shovels on the ground. I think it startled him. But he loved the fireworks....go figure!

Here are links to the section of my trip report from that vacation where we went to the party in case you'd like to read how our experience was with a 13-month-old:

We could go with past costumes, Starlord and Gamora. Brian would probably want to wear his Jack Sparrow again, maybe I could be Ariel with that one? I am torn between wanting to do something new and saving money.

Thanks so much! This is extremely helpful! Good to hear you had a positive experience because I really would like to take her :)

OK I read through just the part of MNSSHP (can't wait to read the rest) and now youve got me convinced to go!! What time was Seth's bedtime at home? And was he out late any other nights of vacation? How did he do the next day? Our only choices are Halloween (which is the day we arrive) or 11-1 which I think would be better even though I would love to go on Halloween. But we plan to take an early flight and it would be a really long day. I just keep worrying that she would pass out and be extremely cranky but she is a VERY good happy baby and loves going out in her stroller. Again she is only 6 months now so I don't know how she will be in 6 more months but I think I'm gonna go for it! He looked like he had so much fun!!!

Gamora is sure to get noticed, thats mainly why i'm doing the same costume again, the double takes of people noticing I was green had me laughing the entire night.

We have tickets for halloween night!!

I was a little worried about crowds but we've been to a sold out party before (2013) and it wasn't as bad as we were expecting to be honest. And I mean, a sold out party is a sold out party right?! So halloween night should be about the same crowd level this year... unless of course they've increased the number of tickets available in the past few years... Either way I'm sure we'll have fun!

I thought about being pirates, but didn't want the polyester type costumes from the Halloween store because of the heat. I then thought I'll just buy pirate-y type clothing, too expensive! So I decide on a modified Maleficent...the Maleficent ears, with a themed tank, black shorts and black flip flops. I'll also do my eyes and lips like her. This way I'll be dressed up but not too hot.

Well, he will be 5 in September, so this was a few years ago! But if I remember I believe he went to bed at that time around 8:00ish every night. Let me see if I remember what we did that trip....

Friday - early night (had been to AK that day)
Saturday - early night (back to hotel after Epcot and dinner)
Sunday - early night (we had been to MK for awhile in the afternoon but got back to resort before dark)
Monday - we were in HS until maybe like 8:00 or so. We weren't planning on parks that day but decided to go to HS that afternoon.
Tuesday - this was a "late" night, we stayed at MK for Wishes which I think were at 9:00. We opened MK, stayed until around early afternoon, took a break and then came back for fireworks.
Wednesday - early night after day at Epcot and dinner at Kona.
Thursday - this was the day we did the party (and HS in the morning)
Friday - we left on this day.

No idea how I remembered all that but I did!

The next day he was fine - we got up, went to Downtown Disney for about an hour and then hit the road. And he slept a ton on the 8-hour drive home. Not the entire trip of course but more than normal. I don't remember him being fussy.

I will tell you this - in my experience you can't count on them being on their normal schedule at WDW. Seth was a VERY scheduled baby (and still is) but he didn't nap at his normal times. In fact, most of the time we'd get to a park, 10 minutes later I'd look down and he'd be asleep.....at 9:30 in the morning!!! He would sleep well in the stroller and we just kinda let him do his own thing. It never really affected our plans much.

I'm sure she will be fine! Just get ready to have a very different trip! Going to WDW with a baby is a whole different ball game but it's WONDERFUL!

Just bought tickets today for September 15th! This will be our first time going to MNSSHP - I'm not telling my husband or two oldest boys. I'll figure something out for their costumes, but I know they will love the surprise :)

My wife has a convention at Coronado Springs from 10/27-10/31 this year, so I am going to tag along. I’m really pumped to finally see this! I’ve wanted to gio for as long as I can remember. I just don’t know if I want to go on 10/29 or 10/31. Either way the trip (sans the admission tickets) is pretty much paid for!
Given my choice in dates, how long do I have before I need to worry about them selling out?
:worship::thanks:

We are going to be there Oct 14-19 We are going to a party on 15th and going to try for a second on Sunday 18th. Thursdays tickets are bought but waiting for funds for the second party :) I am working crazy hard on our costumes. I finished my daughters costume it took me 8 months. Finished My son's. Still working on my own and others in our group. But they are Electrical light Parade inspired. I hope was dinner at BOG and pictures with the Beast :( but today was my 180 day and couldn't get that for ANY day of our trip... Why isn't it open during the party? If that's the only time I'd get I'd take a break during the party to eat there! Here is the video of my dd dress: give it a few seconds it takes a minute for all the lighting boards to turn on :

and my sons costume:

Let me know if anyone has ideas to get reservations or know if anyone is giving them up!

This will be our first trip ever, Going the week of 10/25, and are on a pretty tight budget. Some have told us it's not worth the added expense, and others say it's a not-to-be-missed event! What to do!?
