I'm doing the Hal Higdon Intermediate 2 plan. Anyone else on that plan?
This being my first marathon - but having a running background going back decades - I wasn't sure which plan to pick. The novice plans didn't seem challenging enough but I'm sure I wasn't ready for an advanced plan. It's turned out this intermediate plan seems to be about right, challenging without pushing me to the point of injury.
I've used his Intermediate plans, with slight changes, for multiple marathons with great success. The Sat/Sun back to back work of Intermediate 2 has been good for Goofy training over the past couple of years. The only change I usually make is substituting one of the short run days for cross training. I didn't feel like I was getting a whole lot out of a second 3-5 miler each week.
Enjoy your first marathon, there is nothing like crossing that line after your first
