OFFICIAL 2014 WDW Marathon Countdown: WE DID IT! Congrats everyone!

I just checked to see if waivers were up... yep! :cool1:

I am a bit confused though... my bib number seems to put me at the tail end of things. My POT was from a 10k with a sub 9minute mile. :scratchin

Also... my dh who is new to running his bib number isn't too farther from me...and had over a 12 minute pace for the 10k

I don't think 10k times were acceptable for the Marathon as proof of time. They may have considered it the same as not providing any proof of time?

Sorry... it was for the half not the full. I thought 10k was acceptable for that?? It was for the phm.

OMG! :rolleyes1 Nevermind... I am silly. I didn't take into consideration that the numbers would reflect more than just the full and the half. I popped over to the thread where coach describes what he suspects the numbers will represent. Yeah... I may have freaked out for nothing.

Ann, just to answer that one (even though you're not freaking out anymore), rundisney says a 10K was fine as POT for the Half.

Thanks, Molly! I thought it was.... but I really was in a moment of not knowing for sure when I was freaking out! :rotfl: Now I just feel amazingly stupid.

Yeah - that's correct. This is the Marathon thread so I just assumed that's what race you were running.

I am sub'd to both threads. I have found some of the info on this thread to still be useful in regards to running just the half. Sorry - I was just a dingle berry and posted to the wrong one :)

It's funny as last year the board had the three January events on one thread. I thought that was busy and difficult to follow late in the cycle. I think it maybe more difficult to follow the individual threads.

Aw don't feel like that.

I'm on both too. I think this one was started before the Donald thread and I know I joined this before I joined Donald. I find it interesting as well. Lots of good stuff gets posted in one vs the other so I think it's essential to read both. And sometimes we forget where we are. :)

Just wanted to say a good luck to all you marathoners :) Today I was officially able to switch over to the half through a little creative finagling (all of it Disney legal, so no worries :thumbsup2), so I'll be over on that thread. Basically, if I registered through a RunDisney Travel Agent for the half, RunDisney was willing to cancel my marathon registration (that I had done directly through RunDisney/Active.com - not sure if that's important) and refund me the money for the marathon. As far as I know, this loophole closes as of this coming Monday. I found out about it when I posted about wanting to do the half instead of the full on another board and a RunDisney Travel Agent contacted me with this option (she's had others do this as well, so it's not just a one off).

Between packing, moving, unpacking, being sick, injuries and realizing I'm just not a marathoner, I feel it was the best choice. I'm super excited to be running the half and at least participating in the weekend, so maybe I'll see some of you guys around :thumbsup2 I'm seriously in awe of you marathoners and I'll be cheering you on on Sunday - just from the sidelines now :thumbsup2

Have a 20 mile run this weekend. Forecast leaves a lot to be desired. Rain, snow, sleet. Gonna have to make the best of it.

I gave in and got a gym membership. I have to run around an indoor track with a 8 lap/1 mile ratio. Still, it's better than running outside.

That would get me dizzy! Lol. I did my first treadmill run last night, 5 miles, HATED it! Hoping I can find a 3 hour window where it's not too bad and hopefully nothing sticks to the ground, causing a slip issue. I didn't come this far to get hurt.

I'm just looking at this one as a "have fun along the way" race. I burned myself in the spring with too many races too close together (More/Fitness Half, Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run, Country Music Half, Brooklyn Half all within a short enough time frame I could qualify for Half Fanatics if I wanted to) and while I did reasonable well at the Hartford Half in October, I have just not gotten my mojo back yet. For tomorrow's long run, I'm not even looking at what distance to cover - I'm just going out for 4 hours. The next week, 4.5, and the following, 5. This race isn't going to be a PR race by any means for me - but as long as I have fun, I'll be happy.

Training Question

Hello. Haven't had time to post much lately but am getting very excited for race weekend!

I am training to walk/run Goofy. This will be my second marathon. My training schedule got a bit off. My longest runs were 15 miles on 11/16. Then I did 18 miles on 12/2. I would like to get two more 20-milers. Would it hurt to do a 20-miler this weekend without a cutback weekend in between? This would leave me the 21st to do final 20 mile run.

Or would it be better to space the long runs every other weekend, leaving the final 20 miler only two weekends before race?

I'm feeling pretty recovered from the 18 miler, but wasn't sure if two week taper would be too short. Thoughts?

One other option would be to only do one last long run of 20 miles and on other weekends do 10-12 mile runs...except for the last weekend of taper. Just unsure which would be best. Not looking for PR, just want to finish feeling good and under the official race pace.

Did 20 on the treadmill on Wednesday night. You would have enjoyed that. Watched the Magnificent Seven on Amazon.

Wow...20 miles on a treadmill? The longest I ever did was 13...I might have to do 20 miles this Sunday...it gets too dark out these days and I have The Real Housewives of somewhere to watch on Dvd,...maybe that can keep me moving for 20miles!
