Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

I've got a 1/2 in 6 weeks that i'm training for now.....did 10 miles on Saturday. But i'm sure that come October i'm gonna be lazy and need a "rest" after all that training. and it'll be cold and rainy and dark before work....i'm so not a morning person anyway, it's a struggle now to get up at 6am and it's still sunny out! I know i won't be able to do it when it's dark!

but i'm doing Tink and Princess....and both 1/2's and 10K's! I've got to keep it up because i'm not about to waste all this money i've spent! LOL I just got some new headbands....so that was cool for this weekend. I may need to spring for a new skirt or shirt after the 1/2 in September to keep me going.

Also....since i have a 1/2 coming up.....i certainly don't want to start the Tink /GSC training program at the beginning do it? Can't i modify it a bit and keep up 8 or so miles every other week until i get to that point in the program? I don't want to go back to 3, then 4, then 3 and so forth.

I've totally lost my groove...and my "official" training plan for this race should start next month for me :faint: My main motivator, the BF, is hurt right now too...so that makes it even harder! UGH! On the upside, I got a new pair of my favorite running shoes (in an awesome brand new color combo that wasn't even on the shelves yet in the store!) and a pair of Beats ear buds that I've been eyeing for my birthday over the weekend. Normally, that's about all it takes to get me back in the mood, but I'm still struggling. I'm planning to, at the very least, put some treadmill time in this week because I just don't think I can stomach 100 degrees in the outdoors after being so lazy the last couple of months. I always do this to myself between races! :furious:

Sorry no groove! And the temps...eeww. Hopefully buying something new at your store will match your new shoes and then you will fall back into place. :goodvibes

I would definitely modify the schedule and just like you said. That's what I'm doing ~ after NY, I'm taking probably 3 weeks off and then jump back in for the rest of Tink and maintain for GSC.

i wish they would hurry up and post the training programs!!!

You can modify it however it works for you! Keeping a 7 or 8 every other week is a smart choice!

I am SO in this spot right now! I have another 1/2 in 18 days and really need to go do a 9 miler...this will be #11 of 13 halfs for me, so I know what you mean! As far as making decisions you start second guessing I'm in the same boat too. I signed up for an incredibly hilly 1/2 on sept 1st, another one on sept 28th and yet another on October 6th.....the sept 28th one was the newly added run, and ONLY for the medal. Not kidding, I saw the medal at a bib pick up expo and said sure why not! The bling is so freaking addictive.......

I would suggest doing maintenance training with a range of 6-10 miles alternating between longer and shorter mileage each week. You can also do race rehearsal workouts. The first and last mile while be at your normal training pace or slower and the middle miles will be at your expected race pace. These workouts should be in the 4-8 miles range with 8 being the most you would want to do.

Once the Disney training program aligns with your maintenance mileage just switch to the training program so you are getting the proper mix of build-up,step-back and taper workouts.

I think cooler weather is moving your way. The cool front came through DFW yesterday. Hope you get some of it!

I've heard these rumors! We're still sitting at around 98 today...supposed to be a frigid 91 tomorrow! :rotfl2: LOL! Oh well, thankful we're not reliving the summer of 2011 with those record breaking continuous 100+ days...I can't even remember how many days in a row it was, but it was ridiculous...that was the first AND LAST time I trained for the DL half. It totally broke me! :crazy2:

I believe you will get your groove back.....it just maybe after summer and your HOT weather ends.

Think about this.......You don't want to give up your "Perfect Pixie" status now DO YOU ???? :sad2:

I believe what they say, "the hardest part is just getting started." Just remember.....Perfect Pixie, Perfect Pixie, Perfect Pixie !!!!

Oh no! I am NOT about to give up my status yet! I'll get over the finish line one way or another! Although, I guess next year it'll be fininsh lineS ;)

Now I have to know what is a "perfect pixie"?

I had a great short run this morning. Getting back in the grove of things after taking a small break for sciatic nerve issue. It's much better. For the first time in weeks I feel like I'm myself again. :cheer2:

It's nothing "official"...but rD recognized all the runners at the Princess Half this year that had completed all 5 races as "Perfect Princesses" with a tiara and sash at packet pick up...so we're hoping for something along the same lines at the 5th Tink Half...someone here came up with that clever name :)

Oh cool, I didn't know about that.

When I did my first half marathon which was Disneyland's fifth anniversary, The people that were Legacy got different ribbons on the metal.

I was there too. It wasn't my first half marathon but it was my first runDisney event. When I saw the announcement for the first Tink that was one of the first things I thought of, a race where I can work for Legacy status!

Yes.....it's all about Legacy status. :cool1:

I thought Perfect Pixie was a great name too! Watch Disney will call it something completely different hahahaha

When I went to register for the half marathon, it was already sold out. This was to be a stepping stone for coast to coast in 2015.

So....doing the 10k at this one, and then half they next year

I'm lost. What do you mean by 5 races? 5k, 10k, & 1/2? That's only 3. What are the 5 races?

And what do you mean for the Legacy?

Me too! It was at a pre-race dinner with some other runners at the 1st Tink that I first heard of this legacy thing, so I'm pretty determined to run at least the 1st 5 :) 2 down, 3 to go! :thumbsup2
