Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Can't wait! Also, I live just south of you in Santa Cruz. :)

Nice! I was thinking of Santa Cruz yesterday at lunch ~ it was a perfect day to ditch work and go to the beach for the afternoon.

I felt like the first 6 miles just flew by because there was so much time spent in anticipation of the parks, then in the parks, then DTD had tons of people cheering you on. It was very cool and inspiring.

I thought the same thing, the 1st 1/2 went by so fast.

More of "back stage" at Tink vs DL 1/2. I love running back stage (I'm a "Disney Geek")...you've got Cast Members cheering you on and this year there were even some animals out as we passed the stables.

I love the backstage part too! I forgot if it was for they were out for the 5k and the 1/2, but did you see the baby goats? So adorable.

Yes....I love the baby goats. I think those animals are the "Happiest on Earth". When we're at the park we always have to visit the ranch to visit the animals.

Hey everyone! Think I'm gonna add a day to my reservations. Maybe leave on Tuesday instead of Monday :)

And now the bad news. I'm officially injured per the Dr. No running for 6-8 weeks. She gave me permission to do Diva on 5/5 IF I do Walk 3 min/Run 1 min intervals. Boo. Doing some exercises she gave me already and start seeing the PT next week. So no PR 10K for me on Sunday. Luckily my time from my 10K last year will still work.

Sorry to hear about your injury. At least you can still participate in your race next month. :tinker: Sending you get well wishes and a quick recovery.

Sure :) I had asked about it and the first response was just giving me the registration dates, then I emailed again saying that it didn't seem logical since the Tinkerbell takes place before the Princess, and this is the most vague response I have ever had :rotfl2:

Hello Barbie,

There is definitely a reasoning for setting the registration dates in this manner, and I apologize if this has caused confusion.

Have a great day!

Thank you,

Kristin

Well dang I want to know what big secret they are keeping from us!!! I hope this doesn't consume my thoughts more than it probably should lol

WOW...that is a hilarious response. I am actually surprised they even answered if this is all they could say. Well, I already have my costumes planned for the 10K and the Half so here's hoping!!! LOL

Okie dokie then :lmao:

It's probably because the Princess is entirely on the Disney property, so they already know the route, course limit on runners, etc, etc. The Tink involves the city of Anaheim, so must be coordinated with them - so it involves the police department, route approval from the city, possible negotiations with residents or businesses in the area affected, etc.

Well that's nice an ambiguous. Thanks Disney for keeping the mystery.

:hug:That's not fun! I hope it heals so for you.

What are the registration dates?

I saw July 9 for Princess, what for Tink?

I thought I saw/read somewhere that Princess was June and Tink was July? Last year it was reversed so I figured they just flipped them this year to change it up. Maybe it has to do w/ the changes in the races for next year?

With everyone talking about blogs, it has me thinking about one to keep me on track for NY. Does it help you stick to your training schedules more knowing that people are reading/commenting/following you?

Set a 10k PR yesterday and learned lessons in the process. I learned yes I really do need to eat in a 10k at mile 2.5 my times went down significantly in the second half or this finish probably would have been 60-90 seconds faster. I ran the 10k in 53:56 with a pace of 8:42! My first 3 miles were just under 8:20 pace and I felt good at this pace but I can say after the first half I felt hungry and meh so I learned food at 2.5 just like in a training run is necessary. My metabolism is a little wack. I am extremely pleased since this is my first <9 race over 5k. This lines up well for me to make a <2 hour half in 2 weeks, and a <4 hour first marathon. Hoping this year to do a <25 minute 5k too but we shall see.

Awesome times!!!! Way to go.:cheer2:

I keep hearing about costumes and originally I wasnt going to do it but now I have a really awful idea and I'm considering it I've been giggling for 5 minutes straight.

Wear a pirate hat and a shirt that says "Capt'n Haul ****" on the back "You've been Pillaged and this Race is Bein Plundered"

Peter pan has pirates right?
