Breaking news for RunDisney fans! Princess Half-Marathon weekend will now feature a 10K. Completing both the 10K & Princess half-marathon will earn you a Glass Slipper Challenge medal and completing both the Princess half-marathon at Walt Disney World and the Tinkerbell half-marathon at DisneyLand Resort will earn you a special coast-to-coast medal with a pink overlay & lanyard!

Registration for the Princess half-marathon begins June 11. Registration for Tinkerbell half-marathon begins June 11 if you are also registering for the Princess half-marathon, otherwise it will start on July 9.

I have no idea how many C2C'ers were at Princess this year. But I can tell you I only saw a handful of us with our medals and before the race walking around with the C2C wrist bands.

I'm actually now worried that registration will fill up very fast. I think it's wrong that Princess reg. opens up before Tink but they can sign up for both.
Wonder how many "limited" spaces they are allowing ??

Thank you and will do. Sadly I will be running another half in 2 weeks now due to coming down with a double infection this week. I will run Nike but it will not be the projected 1:53-1:56 I'd hoped for.

That's one thing that bothers me about run Disney. I am not a big fan of early sign up. There are some of us that don't have a charge card, annual pass or are not DVC members so that puts us at a disadvantage.

I'm not sure but I plan to be online at the time they release because it was my plan to C2C anyway at the princess.

I think Tink will sell out much quicker now. If there were folks that were on the fence about running Tink and Princess for the C2C, they won't be on the fence now. This kind of announcement creates the type of buzz that sweeps people up in excitement.

Me? I'm not all that thrilled with the pink overlay on the C2C, but I guess if you already have one, getting another one that looks slightly different would be a big draw.

The Glass Slipper Challenge would be cool, though. I would LOVE to run an inaugural anything. Wonder what that medal looks like.

Yeah, but now that I saw the medal next to the current C2C, I can see how I might want both! I've already made it a goal to get a C2C, so this may have just pushed this fence sitter over the edge. See how good Disney marketing is????

I also prefer the classic C2C, but I already have one of those, so I wouldn't mind getting this version, too. it'll have to wait a year or two, though, because I'm already planning on getting my C2C next year for WDW Marathon weekend/Tinker Bell. I keep hoping they'll do something like a "you're absolutely nuts" C2C medal for the crazies like me!

As far as Tinker Bell selling out goes, there is no doubt that it was going to go fast this year, as DL races tend to sell out faster than others, plus the recent trend of races selling out has people signing up faster, or so it seems. Hopefully those princess spots really will be limited, and there will be plenty of spots left for those that just want Tink. Last year, I waited 3 weeks after reg opened to sign up. I don't think that's going to cut it this year. LOL.

Sorry if this is a repeat question, but I'm thinking of getting a group together to do the tinker bell 5K family run.

What is the "entertainment" along the run? This would be the first time I do a RunDisney event...

I sooo want to do Princess now too and get my C2C! And an inagural 10k, how fun would that be?
Pretty sure its still out of my budget though. I highly doubt I could convince DH to let me do it.

I was thinking the same thing. Tink is 1st calendar wise, maybe they are going to see how many are doing both to get an idea?

I'm with you ladies!! I'm excited about the Glass Slipper, b/c I love Cinderella, but I am not a pink girl at all!! I did email them to see if they'll have the regular C2C as an option. In theory I guess having both medals would be nice, but the pink and purple w/a pink lanyard is a bit too much. We'll see what they say.

I think I'm going to try and register for it in June, but more for the Slipper and if I don't get in, I'll do it the following year.

Fingers crossed they add a 10k to Tink too. Although, I wonder if that would affect the Perfect Pixie status. I don't think it does, but if it does, no 10k, just the 5k for me!

For the 5k, it's characters and pirates(lots of them) as well as various floats from parades in DL and DCA. There are also CMs along the way cheering you on ~ this year the custodial staff even made a banner cheering us on!! Lots of photo ops. It starts at the castle and ends near the Silly Swings in the back of DCA. It's the only one that in all in the parks either the park itself or backstage. There is a DJ at the beginning of the race when people are waiting for the race to go off. No bands along the course though. For the 1/2 there are cheerleaders, college bands and the best Red Hat lady stretch you could ever run through!!

Also, b/c it's so early in the morning, the parks are lit up at like they are at night and when you finish, they have the WOC fountains going, on low, but w/ different colors. It's really pretty.

I'm in for Tink next year, I want to keep my legacy status. I was already trying to find a way to swing a solo trip to the Princess and run with friends. Now I want to make sure I register early before the tink sells out. I think its going to go fast this year. Last year, it was over 50% after 2 days.

I am really tempted to do the glass slipper challenge, but I am already running dumbo and I think running 2 halves in 5 weeks is enough of a challenge for me. I also want to enjoy each race. I will have fun scream teaming at the 10K, though. Now to hold firm to this plan and not give in!

With all this glass slipper talk....I'm surprised there is no more talk on the "possible race at DL Paris".

I'll be very surprised if we get a 10K here for Tink this year. But you never know. I can see it happening next year or for the 5th anniversary.

I'm so tempted to sign up for the Princess now. But after Dumbo and the anticipated Tink, I think my husband would not be happy. :/ I might have to go by myself. How many of you ladies are planning or have gone to a race solo?
