Hi Ladies!
I'm new to the DIS boards and I'm excited to have found such a fun group of Disney runners (if you'll have me). :) I've run the Disneyland half the past 2 years with my hubby and we're registered for Dumbo in the fall. I'm planning to run Tink 2014, most likely my first solo race. :) Looking forward to the knowledge you ladies have to share!

Kimber

Welcome!!!!

Hi!

I was looking at your blog and I love the idea of making totes from race shirts! I am so trying it this weekend!

It was really easy. Just be sure to use heavy interfacing on the race shirt to keep it from stretching and give it some body. Post a picture when you finish! :)

Hi Kimber,
2014 will be my first time to DL (also going solo)
I have done the princess 3 times, I was awesome!!!

You don't run in the park when your running DL half?

You don't run in the park when your running DL half?

How was the princess? My goal is to run every runDisney race (not in the same year though).
You do run in the park for the DL half, but only the first few miles. I think for Tink it's 6 miles in the park?

You are in MK for the princess for miles 6-7.25 ish ( I hope I got that right)
You run down main street, then threw tomorrow land then the back of the castle out the castle then threw frontier land and out of MK from there.
I LOVE every step of it. I did not have much love for the expo this year, but that had it in a small place than years past. The whole weekend in wonderful!!

Tink is about 1.5 miles outside the parks- go around the perimeter back to DCA backstage entrance. Then you leave somewhere around mile 4.5ish, hit DTD, and you hit the 10K (6.2 mile) marker outside the parks in the neighborhood. Past the Read Hat ladies.

I am a total mental runner- I need entertainment to stay focused. This TOTALLY worked for me. I felt like the first 6 miles just flew by because there was so much time spent in anticipation of the parks, then in the parks, then DTD had tons of people cheering you on. It was very cool and inspiring.

For Princess, you hit the 10K mat quickly after leaving the MK. It might be inside the park but just barely inside MK. The 5K mat is over by the speedway, then you enter MK around mile 4.5-5. Exit just before mile 6 I believe. The Firemen are sitting outside the backstage entrance of MK at your half way point.

The Princess is more boring to me after you leave MK- lots of highway! Tink had buildings and crowds of spectators along the route- made it less boring IMO.

More of "back stage" at Tink vs DL 1/2. I love running back stage (I'm a "Disney Geek")...you've got Cast Members cheering you on and this year there were even some animals out as we passed the stables. Downtown Anaheim is nice to run through especially since it's a change from the course we run for the DL 1/2. All along the course the crowd support is great.
In Feb. I did Princess to get my C2C and I still think Tink is my favorite race.

Hey, hey, hey Tinks!! I'm behind, so I have some pages to read LOL!! I'm going to try and be on here more often!! I've been a slacker!! But I'm still dreaming of Tink!!!

I sent RunDisney an email yesterday asking why the registration for the Tink takes place after the registration for the Princess, even though the Tink will happen before the Princess, and I only got a vague response, saying that there is a reasoning behind it, but wouldn't elaborate :confused3 I'm still confused about it, doesn't seem logical to me, but oh well!!

Is it July 9th yet?? LOL!!

Hi Lauren! You actually got me started here. You might recognize me from your blog (and mine). I followed your link to the DIS boards here. :)

HEY Kim!!! I'm so glad you decided to join!

Me, too! I get bored without music or something to watch. At the last DL 1/2 the first 6 miles flew by because I spent them trying to catch up and find the pace guy and his balloons. ;) The spectators definitely keep the excitement and momentum going.

I love the back stage parts! I always have an "OMG, this is sooo cool!" look on my face. :)

Could you share the response you received? I have been wondering the same thing. I am running both this year for my C2C and was confused when I noticed Princess opens before TinkerBell. Maybe they are adding some events to Princess Weekend?

Sure :) I had asked about it and the first response was just giving me the registration dates, then I emailed again saying that it didn't seem logical since the Tinkerbell takes place before the Princess, and this is the most vague response I have ever had :rotfl2:

Hello Barbie,

There is definitely a reasoning for setting the registration dates in this manner, and I apologize if this has caused confusion.

Have a great day!

Thank you,

Kristin
