Official 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon

Hey gals. I just wanted to report in about my weekend. We went to SF for the Diva Half and at the Expo they did let me move down to the 5K so I was pretty happy about that. Shhhhh dont tell my Dr. but I ran it :) I was going to be good and I started to do 1:1 intervals but I felt great so I just ran. Mixed about 5 minutes of walking in there total. Just looked at my little spreadsheet I track my races on and realized I ended up with a 5K PR by 4 seconds :lmao::cool1:
Now back to being a good girl and not running for a few more weeks!

If any of you are ever considering doing one of the Diva races I'd recommend it. Expo was smaller than Disney of course but really geared towards women. Raw Threads was there with booth and some cute shirts.
At the race they started the half before the 5K which was good for the half runners. Lots of great loot at the end. They hand you a tiara and boa about 100 yards before the finish. Once you finish you get your medal from a shirtless pretty boy. Then someone hands you a long stemmed red rose. Then you get a class of champagne or ginger ale. Overall, very fun and very upbeat. Since I didn't do the half I cant say anything about course support for that though.

Glad to hear you had fun and was able to run !! Good job on your PR !!! (Now go rest up) :)

Any new stuff from Raw Threads ?? Just love those shirts.

We're going to Oahu and staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. With our little guy it's the island that just works for us and easy to do. I really am looking into hiking Diamond Head. (It's a bucket list item and easier to achieve than getting into Club 33 :lmao:)

I'm happy to pick up some perfume for you. Honestly---just let me know.

Would love a good carne asada recipe. Let us know if you find one. But it looks like just grilled shrimp and avocado for me. (Trying to be healthy)

Just on the other side of Diamond Head is Hanauma Bay which has great snorkeling in there little cove area. Are you renting a car? If you are, you have to go over to Kailua Beach; it's on the other side of the island. It's the complete opposite of Waikiki ~ so peaceful, quiet and absolutely beautiful. I went kayaking there when we went and fell in love w/ it.

Just to tide you over until your trip! :beach:

Thanks for the offer for the perfume, I'll let you know! :goodvibes

The menu for yesterday was homemade salsa and chips w/ a touch of lime juice on them w/ tortillas that were torn in the bag already. Salsa was good, but a bit on the hotter side, I used a tad too much habanero. And the main course were chicken enchiladas. So good!!

I'm doing the Rock n Roll Seattle Marathon! It's convenient, because it's my hometown, so I'm familiar with the course. I've never run it all at one time, but I've run most of the pieces of it, either during the half last year, or during training runs. I'm hoping I can talk my family/friends into coming out and watching, too.

That one looks pretty! Good luck w/ the rest of training!

Congrats on the PR!! :cheer2: Glad you were able to change races and still race.

Yesterday did a 5k at Great America. Little bit different than the DL 5ks! :rotfl2: If there were 1,000 people, I would be really surprised. It was all around the park, which is so different now than the last time I was there, and then around the outside of the parking lot and over by the 49ers new stadium. It kinda reminded me of the 1st couple of 5ks for the Sept race b/c we would start and finish in the parking lot/now Cars Land. But it was nice, we got a shirt, medal and ticket to the park for the day.

Thanks for the beautiful beach photo. :thumbsup2
We are renting a car for just a couple of days and Hanauma Bay is on the list. Plan to head to the North Shore. Not sure if I've been to Kailua
Beach so it sounds like we need to check it out. I'll find out where it is. Our resort is at one end of Waikiki, and it even has it's own lagoon. Much quieter than the beach in front of the Royal Hawaiian area.

Your menu for Sunday sounded great !!!

Your race sounded like it was fun. We were at GA on Friday and yes it has changed. I remember when it was just parking lot around the park, not Silicon Valley Companies. Crazy---but I am such a DL AP'er with attitude, nothing is as great as DL. But I just can't seem to stop comparing other theme parks to DL and nothing measures up.

It sounds like you've pretty much already decided to skip SF, but I thought I'd chime in since I have a different perspective. I personally tend to get lazy if I'm not actively training for a race, so I would be all over that SF race. When I hit a "dead zone" in my training, I tend to think, "eh, I don't *really* need to go running during the week," and then my fitness ends up suffering. But that's just me, and I totally get that not everyone is that way.

I'm personally currently in training for my first full marathon in June, which will roll right into DDD training. After DDD, I think there 3 weeks until my official Dopey training plan starts, and I'm already thinking, "oh no! What will I do those 3 weeks?" Lol.

Have to say I agree with you! This is exactly why I signed up for 9 halfs in 2013! If I don't do that many I just won't go out for weeks on end.....

I did the Diva 5k yesterday as well! It was my first race ever - and was so fun! They did a great job with everything. :thumbsup2

I have a friend who did the 1/2 and she said it was great as well. I will definitely do this one next year, but will do the 1/2 :cool1: instead of the 5k.

I would highly recommend this series to anyone and especially to new runners! It was very well marked and easy to figure out where to go & what to do. :confused3 something I was kinda nervous about.

And because it was my first race I got a PR :cool1: as well. :thumbsup2

They have one in So Cal in Dec - I am seriously considering going.

ONE race - only a 5k & I am hooked! :goodvibes

Kim---OMG I did some google research on Kailua Beach and WOW it sounds and looks like paradise. Thanks for the heads up--we are definately going. ::yes::

I'm not sure if any of it was new, but it was all new to me! I normally just check out their villians and good girls stuff hahaha There was one shirt that I'm dying to have though.

Yeah, it's changed so much and I found myself comparing to DL too! I was talking to my sister about it, it is so different but there are still little hints from when I was there. The funny thing is that I'm so used to DL and getting there early, but you didn't even need it. And a lot of the rides didn't open until 11!

Yay! :yay: Like I told you above, I went kayaking there and it was awesome. We had a couple of hours after to hang out on the beach and I didn't want to leave. It is such a beautiful beach, the colors of the water are incredible. And in those 2 hours, a storm rolled in, rained, and rolled out to sun before I left. It was insane!!

I'm signed up for the SoCal Diva's Half Marathon. I'm excited for a smaller half and all the goodies at the end!

:hyper::hyper: So much ENERGY!!! :hyper::hyper: Seriously, I have no idea why, but I could go out and run 10 miles right now. I don't drink coffee and the diet coke I do drink is caffeine free. I don't know if it's the combo of the DDD medals being released and the thought of finally getting back down to DL (serious w/draws from there) along w/ getting NY emails the past 2 days or what, but I am bouncing off the walls right now.

Please tell me this has happened to someone else, so I don't think I'm some freak! :rotfl2:

Now back to your regular Tink talk! :tink:

I wish I had that today...so, so, soooooo drained, and the weather is crap today too so that doesn't help. Are you tapering for an upcoming race maybe? If so, then you're doing it right :thumbsup2

No race. But I think we figured it out. There's a boy at the gym that I used to have a crush on, but I haven't seen him there in months and the past couple of days he popped up there again!
