Official 2013 Tower of Terror 10 Miler

It's been a year since my last Disney run. I've forgotten. Do we receive an email regarding the waiver?

as above supposed to get one, but most folks seem to know their number prior to the email - or at least when they send out my email.

In theory, yes. In practice, I'm about 50/50 on ever getting emails from runD. Don't worry - you'll know here when they're available! :thumbsup2

While we are helping Molly work on reality vs advertising, what about the rides that are open during the party?

I've been thinking that it's ONLY TOT, RNRC, and TSMM, but now I see they say something like "rides such as" those. Are there others open? I'm sure nothing would thrill DH and DS more than the Great Movie Ride, for instance. ;)
GMR and Star Tours were open, too.

Day 3 of Waiver Watch.... nada. Still waiting... :surfweb:

Have we gotten the igoody bag yet? I found a coupon for the commemorative card on the Lasting Commemorative website but I couldn't remember if we got that already or if it'll come with the waivers? My magicbands came today, so I feel like my waiver should be available now.

It's feeling really real--I'm not only really excited to go to Disney but that weekend is also the start of my marathon taper! I can't wait.

Not sure if I'm prone to it but was definitely from overuse at the time.
I had done a duatholon, then a trail run, then had to work a week in Vegas (lots of on my feet) and mid week flew to Disney to meet family. By the end of the week, I could barely stand on it. Sucked!

Rest, rest and more rest helped but now I've got little time to get back into a decent condition to run

Wow - overuse sounds like an apt description! Glad you're doing better, and I hope ToT goes smoothly for you. :)

I think last year it came well before the waivers. I could be wrong.

And taper... you are starting this weekend for the ToT? Or when you say marathon taper... do you have a marathon planned before the ToT? I am looking forward to my taper. I am planning 9.. maybe 9 1/2 miles this weekend. I might even do that the following... and then my taper. What is everyone else doing? July and August were hard months on me since I was sick both months (one with a summer cold and then the other a kidney infection) I still managed to get in about 100 miles in August though... but I am pooped. I can't wait for that taper!!! (and of course the race ;))

The plan I'm following doesn't have a taper. It still has you doing 8 miles the week before the run and then the week of I believe a 5 and a 2.

Just in case anyone had forgotten I'm a newbie to rundisney...what's a waiver? :scared:

Thanks for that info!

The Galloway "upright" plan has me doing 10 this week, but I'm scared. As you might remember, Ann, I'm in new shoes with new inserts AND I missed the 9 miles two weeks ago, so I'm scared. Reminding myself...I can walk very quickly, so just take the walk breaks and it's OK...

I'm doing the Marine Corps Marathon October 27th, so my run the weekend before Tower of Terror will be the 20 miler I was supposed to do on the 5th. I'm treating this one like a start to the taper and Wine & Dine will be my building back up for marathon weekend.

Alright # 174! Woo hoo!

Oh wait, that is this weekend’s race.
:rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2:
:lmao:

Nothing here.

Almost forgot....

:cheer2: Happy One Month til We Run Everyone!!! :cool1:

I have NEVER been so excited to taper - this summer has just sucked the life out of me. TOT will actually be my final long run before my Oct. half, so I'll do a little taper before TOT (12-13 miles 9/21, 4 miles 9/28), 6ish miles 10/12, 4 miles 10/19, and my half is 10/27. I'll reduce my short runs to 30 mins at an easy pace the week before each race and make my XT days nice and easy, walking or gentle yoga, nothing that results in sore muscles.

The waiver is the form you have to sign agreeing that you'll hold Disney harmless in the even of any injuries or death. Standard race procedure. But, more importantly, the waiver will give you your bib number... which will then tell you your corral!

Reminding myself...I can walk very quickly, so just take the walk breaks and it's OK...
::yes:: Exactly! If it makes you feel better, I'm still babying my injured knee, so I'll be doing lots of walking in my 10-11 miler tomorrow, too. We can do it! :thumbsup2

i did my 10 last night because i won't have time to do it this weekend. at some points, it was tough. but i got through it and so can you!

i run (not run/walk), but i did need a walk break. as much as i really wanted to run the entire distance, i had to take a break. also, on the last 1 1/2 miles, i played certain songs that i knew would pump me up and get me going!

even my husband was impressed last night. ;) he told me he was proud of me.

I have been lurking my way through the posts but have been so excited the past week i've check for every new post!! This is my first Disney race so I have a lot to learn! I'm sure there is some way to buy a pin, if we didn't add it to our race admission?! Right?? :goodvibes

Waivers are most likely today. THe DL Half waiver link went down this AM. That means the site is being converted to the ToT as we speak.

Wasn't going to do a waiver watch but here I am

I was just on that link! Tried to put in TOT combinations to bring up a page but no luck ;) exciting!!

Emmi tightened up the backside of the website so heading to the root file and working back out does not work well. A smart/organized person would memorialize the eventual link address so that the year can be simply revised next year.

Definitely on waiver watch/ corral placement. I'm running an 8K tomorrow and would love to know how hard I have to run to bump up my corral placement. I'm pretty certain my son will be in A. He submitted 1:26 for a 15k and my time was 1:37.
