Official 2013 Tower of Terror 10 Miler

If you are unable to run, for example due to injury, can you still attend the bash? Do you just need to go and pick up your packet as if you were running to do this as your bash ticket would be in there?

Runners don't get physical bash tickets so I would go to the expo and ask.

Will they email the waivers to us? If so, I need to be checking my spam folder. I can't seem to get them to go into my Inbox.

Thanks!

Don't count on it - I've only every gotten emails from runD about half the time. Whoever knows first will post here when they're available and they can be accessed through the runDisney website - no need to wait for an email at all. :thumbsup2

Ahh I was mentioning my waiver watch to a friend and she said she didn't get hers for PHM until a week before the race!? Can that really be true?

Most definitely if she was talking of the email notifying her of the waiver. If she was speaking of the waiver, it can happen if she registered 3rd party i.e. charity or travel company.

She probably meant the email! Ive learned not to count on the email from you guys ;) So the link is posed timely? Usually?!

The waiver is the form you have to sign agreeing that you'll hold Disney harmless in the even of any injuries or death. Standard race procedure. But, more importantly, the waiver will give you your bib number... which will then tell you your corral!

::yes:: Exactly! If it makes you feel better, I'm still babying my injured knee, so I'll be doing lots of walking in my 10-11 miler tomorrow, too. We can do it! :thumbsup2

Thanks for both answers!

even my husband was impressed last night. ;) he told me he was proud of me.

Yay!!!

I have been lurking my way through the posts but have been so excited the past week i've check for every new post!! This is my first Disney race so I have a lot to learn! I'm sure there is some way to buy a pin, if we didn't add it to our race admission?! Right?? :goodvibes

It seems like we can go back into the active registration area and order one. It's something that's been on my mind quite a bit recently, actually! First rundisney race, might as well get it all, right? Thankfully it won't be my first longer-than-5K race as I just signed up for a 10K on the 15th of this month...not really in the training plan but I hope it works out as being good for experience and not bad for my conditioning.

Using that question and not-really-an-answer as a springboard, does anyone know if we can change the size of our shirt order at this point? Obviously it's too late to call rundisney today.

Does anyone have a bib they are not using and would be willing to sell? Thank you for considering.

I was able to do it two months ahead of time last year, it worked for one and for the other it didn't. It doesn't hurt to email them and ask--you can send the email to trackshack where you'd send a time update.

Probably too late to officially change at this point. Historically, they have allowed expo changes. Sometimes one must come back later in the expo, or you can shop a different volunteer.

a week before the race I will be at WDW with no access to email!
my sister registered me for the TOT so am guessing she will get the email?
I am not planning to wait til I get an email but am watching what you all say here - best and quickest way I know to hear things.

I am guessing at CR or POR the business center could check emails and print for you, right?

This is my first runDisney event so still learning the ropes. - waiver gets turned in when?

Did my 7.5 walk yesterday - was feeling out of sorts so was happy I finished it.

Planning to do another one the week that we leave....

Haven't done any time trials - just plugging the distance - have been doing well in the beginning (feeling fresh) then very sluggish and tired in the middle and then well in the end (back to feeling fresh). So pretty sure I can do 10 miles - just crossing my fingers that I keep the times up.

Does anyone know if the evening run weather is bad? My sister said they pulled a lot of people on the run that just happened because of the weather.

 I'm so sorry - I know how scary and frustrating it feels to be injured this close to your first distance race. Your primary focus needs to be on healing the injury, though - take care of that and you've won more than half the battle!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Listen to Coach! I didn't do as he suggests and pushed myself right into a much, much worse injured state before my first distance race, which happened to be last year's TOT. Not fun. Lesson learned. ::yes::

The course is lit well enough - no need for flashlights, though glow sticks/necklaces/laces/bracelets/etc. can be fun in the darker sections. I painted glow-in-the-dark spots on my skirt last year and they never showed up; it wasn't dark enough.

That said... if anyone thinks they'll need to use a porta-potty on the course, you may want to think ahead about how to light things up in there! I wore my iPhone in an armband and found that just hitting the Home button to light up my phone screen gave me enough light to... well, avoid touching anything in the Little Shack of Ick that ought not be touched. :crazy2::rotfl: I was just dealing with a Team Sparkle skirt - I imagine a little light would have been even more critical were I wrangling a tutu!

My friend and I buy these light up rings from Party City. You can turn them on and off and they're great lights to use in the porta potties!!

I'm fairly certain if you keep checking in here in the next few days you should see a link to access and print your waiver, right around that time they'll also send the email. At the marathon in January they had computers at the expo to print your waiver right there,so you should be OK.When you get to the expo first you go to one building where you turn in your waiver to get your bib and at another building you get your race shirt and other items.

I just did a prep for the ToT minus 2 miles,so 8 miles in muggy Florida at 10pm,starting right around the same time the race is supposed to start, and I feel pretty good about it.8 miles in 1 hour 28 minutes,11:06 minutes per mile, overall I'm satisfied but the only problem I see is I doubt I'm going to want to spend too much time at the villains bash,I mean after you're done all you want to do is hydrate yourself and take a shower, both of which I've done and feel great right now,so unless they have some showers lined up at DHS I'll probably just ride ToT and TSMM and go back to the room.

Thanks for the info - getting excited and nervous. Appreciate the expo info and am not gonna worry about the waiver since u can do it there.

Wow 11 is great! I am hoping to be t 14-15 with stops for pictures so hoping the weather doesnt affect me too much. Yup after doing 7.5-8 i want a shower and a soda! Ha ha so hoping i can just enjoy at least an hour at the bash. Thx!

This evening I did 10 miles, for the first time EVER, on the treadmill. (it was heck, with an unintended treadmill stop and reset, making me do math to figure out 10 miles minus 3.29 miles, which I did wrong until about 8 miles into it...and I messed with the incline like I was going up a cloverleaf, and various other things, BUT in that last mile I found myself smiling through the exhaustion and pain and bumping up the speed a bit...only to have it drop down into cooldown mode just .3 miles from the end, ACK! bumped it back up, smiled, finished.)

This morning I weighed myself, drank water, ate food, etc etc. During the treadmill run I drank water and ate sports beans as I went. When I got home at 9:30pm I was 2.2 lbs down from this *morning*.

I read your post while sitting on my sweatshirt, wrapped up in a blanket, trying to get my stomach to agree to having some food, while drinking more water. And while waiting to shower until I could stand up without saying ouch.

And OMG you're right. Gah, that's not good. I wanted to enjoy the bash! But I have to get my mind set to think that I might just not want to do much. Gotta talk to the hubby and son about it, too.

And as I sit here....wowzers, a beer after a run like that (and note that I'm still eating to lose weight here) kicks you in the rear! Woo!
