Official 2013 Disneyland Dumbo Double Dare, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k Thread!

I wouldn't worry too much about cotton over the top as long as it is very thin. I would also for sure do a skirt, it IS Alice;).

I'm also toying with a tutu. There are some gorgeous ones on Etsy. I'm a little worried about the itch factor. Are they bad? Also.....are they hard to pack?

If any ladies are interested, got an email from Raw Threads today w/ their new DDD shirt & Tank. They're red and say Fly on the front w/ a black feather and 19.3 on the back. They also have it in black as a pullover and a gray running skirt that has a baby dumbo stitched on the bottom. Really cute.

Good gosh this board is expensive :). I swear every time I read updates I end up spending money :)

7 weeks until race weekend:). Got my 8 miler in today with a 14:17 avg per mile. Hoping for a cold front race weekend with low humidity which would hopefully lower my avg per mile. :lmao: I know...I know...body remembers effort not time which my running coach keeps reminding me.

On a fun note....got some reservations at napa rose for a celebratory dinner after the race...figured since I was staying at GC I wouldn't have to shuffle far !:rotfl2:

It's officially too hot here in Little Rock to run outside. Has anyone done lots of their longer runs on a treadmill? How do you feel it trains you for the road? How do you occupy your mind for the long runs on the treadmill. Have to do the 9.5 this weekend and I'm totally dreading it!

I haven't done a long run on the treadmill in a couple years, but when I did, I would watch TV. The season finale of Survivor got me through an 8 miler at the gym. That 8 miler was my longest run before my first half. The actual race felt easier and faster, but that was probably due to all the adrenaline. :)

Movies! They help get you through the long runs and there aren't any commercials;).

Same as above... we did the 9.5er last weekend. I streamed anime on on iPad, my husband watched a Top Gear marathon. Even with that it was SO boring... I had the pity of every runner I know. ;)

I would second TV shows. When I first started running, I had to do much of it on a mill b/c of schedules (husband traveling, late evening running, etc....).

I would do movies too but mostly TV. We own a few on DVD that I worked my through: Firefly, Deadwood, Game of Thrones, the Muppet Show, Psych.....Do you have a Netflix subscription?

I now very rarely get on the mill and can't imagine staying on it long enough for a 9.5 miler!!! :crazy2::crazy2:

But it IS better than not running at all! :yay::yay::yay::yay:

I survived the PHM training on the threadmill by rewatching the entire Harry Potter serie. As I run with music I prefer to watch movie I know and love.

Made my dining reservations for the weekend yesterday. We are doing Naples Friday night and Blue Bayou Saturday night. I know that seems a bit backwards but I liked the menu at Blue Bayou and think I will be good there. We may cancel that one and just eat at Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta. On Sunday we are eating at the Trattoria so I can have some celebratory wine! Yay!

Has anyone used the Vons delivery service to a hotel before? I would like to have a few things for snacks and breakfast in the room and thought the delivery would be a great option but wasn't sure if they delivered to hotels. I also wasn't sure how far in advance I could set up the delivery. We are arriving late at night so may need it to be delivered early the next morning.

It's treadmill here on out for me too ! Like the others who posted... really long movies or Hawaii five o...new series are the way to go on long runs TM. I have found the shows give me a time to aim for....3.5 per our show give or take so it breaks up the "oh I have 8 miles". I also think just 7 more weeks and then a break !:cool1:

I've used Vons many times when we've stayed at the Villas at the Grand Californian. We've even had a delivery in the evening when we weren't arriving until later. Bell services will sign for the order and keep things refrigerated. The only issue is if you are ordering beer/wine. If the order has alcohol you need to be there to sign for it.

Thanks! We won't be ordering alcohol, at least not with the first order! Lol! That helps a lot. I may call the hotel and get their policy (I am staying offsite) so I know what they want me to do. Don't want my milk to go bad!
It would be great to have everything when we get there.

I banged my shin hard while riding my bicycle nearly two weeks ago and it really doesn't feel much better. Since the incident I've been resting, icing it and keeping it elevated with no relief. I have a bad feeling that I may have fractured it and made an appointment with my doctor this week.

Made ours last week too! We're at Ariel's on Thursday, Blue Bayou on Friday, Goofy's Kitchen on Saturday, Big Thunder Ranch BBQ on Sunday and PCH Grill for breakfast on Monday:) We also plan to hit up Trader Sam's for celebratory cocktails on Sunday evening :thumbsup2
