Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

Here's a pic I took from last year of everything that was included--minus the bib and shirt of course. It may be hard to see, but there was a pair of cute colored socks, some eye drops, a disposable camera, and a Luna bar, I think.

Thanks! The hubs was asking. I think he thinks that Disney is going to load us up on stuff. Ummm...I don't think so! But that's all stuff I can use, so whatever! You know we're all just going through all this training and pain to get the t-shirt, right???:rotfl:

Oh anyone else here staying at the Swan? Just wondering.

Julie...
I am staying at the Swan with my family. Any chance you want to share a cab ride Sunday morning to the race? My hubby is saying that we aren't going to worry about the extra $$ for cabs but I expect there will be more trips than we are expecting (I think he & the kids will need to take one that morning to get to the finish line and we may even need to splurge for one BACK to the Swan after depending on whether I'm up for walking to Intl Gateway---I do think I'll be fine but...). It would be great to split it. It is totally up to you though; I've been planning till now to go alone. I was in a rental car the last two years and am sad not to have one this year; here's for it being 45-50 instead of 35 at the start!! I do have a friend who I'm hoping to hook up with once I get there but that may not be as easy as I think!

Did my last long run today 10.1 miles in 2 hours and 4 minutes. I wore the skirt I will be running for the race to check out the pockets. I put my phone in it and it worked great, no bouncing AND it was good mentally as I didn't even think about my time.

We have talked about how late we can arrive in the corrals but what time to people start getting to the corrals?

Wendy

I am not certain, but if I remember correctly, jeanigor is a "him" not a "her". I think I met him at the Wine and Dine....but maybe I have people mixed up? Todd?

Oh, that's awkward. Silly me, thinking I was talking to all women on here.

I thought I read to be at the corrals at 5 a.m.

What's the latest time to sneak into the corrals? How strict are they?

I am disappointed about not getting the mesh bag. I could've really used one for the pool & gym etc. Detroit Marathon gave out plastic bags with a few goodies - no camera.

I finally got an email from Disney. I am so excited the weather will be comfortable!! 45-74 is great running weather.

During the half in Jan, I saw people going to their corrals at 5:30 and even later trying to get up to them, they don't seem too strict, but I would suggest getting there on time as you can get a decent spot in the corral and not have to worry about it. I'm sure they knew that it was backed up onto World Drive getting into EPCOT and not to be rude, and let them join their proper corral as long as it was before they left, then I assume they just joined the next starting corral. And I'm a male, dressing as a princess though, but no, not all women here.;)

Disney tries to get everyone to the start of the races extra early. For the wine and dine half they said the last bus was leaving the resort at 8. I don't think we got on a bus until 8:20ish. I think they want to have everyone thinking they need to be in their spots extra early so it's not a nightmare closer to start time.

Just an FYI for anyone looking for throw away clothes. I was just at walmart and got some hanes sweat pants for $2.50. They also had the sweatshirts for the same price. The pants are the wide leg style. I got a size bigger than I normally wear since they were out of my size, and they came off super easy over my running shoes when I tried my outfit on earlier. I'm thinking about going back tomorrow to grab a couple more to add to my throw away clothes collection since they are so cheap. Just a heads up for anyone interested. I was going to go with the blanket idea, but this ended up being a lot cheaper.

I ran 12 miles today. 12 miles. I finally feel like I am ready for the race. In June when I started running I was not able to run .5 miles. And today I ran 12. This is an amazing feeling and I am ready to get to Florida!

ROCK ON! That's how I felt when I did 11 for the first time. I can freakin DO this! WOOT!

Great job- only 2 weeks go to Princesses!!! And Princes. :cheer2:

:cool1::cool1: That is awesome!!! I haven't made it there yet. Today is 7 and later in the week I'll cram in some more miles. I know the fact I haven't made my goal yet is affecting me though because I had my first anxiety dream last night. My partner hurt her foot and lost her shoe and decided not to go and then I felt guilty and stayed behind, sort of (after getting lost in Adventureland :rotfl2: ) and I didn't put the tag thingy on my shoe so I couldn't prove that I "almost" finished. MUST get those miles in this week so I can relax!:rotfl:

Just ran 12.37! I ran it along the first half of the Boston Marathon course, which was pretty exciting as well. Now it's time for taper. I'm thinking of running 7 or 8 next weekend just to keep me motivated. This is the first time that I've run more than 10 miles preparing for a half, so we will see how it goes.

To all those princesses who are sick right now; my coach always says that a cold is nature's way of telling us to taper. Get the rest you need, and don't push yourself too soon. You've put the work and miles in already, and you will do great!

I got in 6 this week and a 7.5 last week and a 9 the week before. I'm going to try for an 11 miler or so this week, but I'm not going to force it. I'm still trying to break in some new shoes I got a few weeks ago. I think the shoes themselves are fine, but my foot is still adjusting to one of the insoles so that still hurts.

Either way, I'm seeing my PT the Tuesday before the race (and the Tuesday after...) and I'm super excited so I'm not worried about the mileage issue. In fact I was at Disney World over Christmas and even then when I only got about 6 miles in I felt like I could the whole race. I'm ready and just chargin to go!

I can't believe we are 2 weeks away!!!

This whole last few months has been very difficult, with the stress fracture and enforced 8 week rest, the holidays, and then the fear that I wouldn't be able to train enough in time.

However, I made it to almost 9 yesterday (8.9), mostly walking (and talking with a friend the entire time) and kept an under 16mm, so I am feeling somewhat better about the race.

I am sore today, but the shins are still doing okay.

I really just want to finish. I don't care about my time, or if it takes me 4 hours.

Are people going to go to the WISH meet on Saturday? Anyone hitting the expo on Sat afternoon that would want to meet and say hello?

think you are all going to make it all the way to the finish line!

I did 12 last Sunday. Today I did 4.5. My knee hurts and it hurts when I go up stairs.
I will ice twice a day, and I should be fine. (keeping my fingers crossed)

I would like to go to the WISH meet Saturday. My family is with me, so that makes it hard. Is it at the Magic Kingdom castle??? 4 p.m.? I don't know for sure.

I just finished my 14 miles :) My knee did fine when I was running, but gave me problems during my walk breaks. I'm going to try and see a doctor this week.
I have 5 more short runs to go and then it will be time for Disney!

I'm interested in this! When/Where is the WISH meet on Saturday?

I'm planning on going to the expo as my first stop after I check into the All Star Movies hotel on Friday. I land Friday at 10am. Hoping then to be at the Expo by 1ish, depending on ME and how hungry I am.

I'm a solo traveler this time. I will have a hard time not walking around eating all of my favorite snacks. I'll also have a hard time taking it easy on Friday and Saturday. Maybe it'll be nice and I can enjoy some pool time. I have AP so if I only go to the parks for a short time it'll be ok.

I think my plan of action is to do some things that we don't do now that we have a kid - like, the hall of presidents or the china movie.

sunday after the race?? well that's just going to be a free for all when it comes to food! lol! my flight is at 7pm that evening so after I shower and if I can walk I'm heading for a fiesta margarita followed by a bier and pretzel!!

Yesterday I did the 7.75 mile run in 1:14. Today it was just a beautiful day out, 60 and sunny here in Celebration that I had to run again, I did 7 miles in 1:07, hoping for the same weather in a couple weeks. I just couldn't pass up this perfect running weather to get another good run in before I get into my light week before the race, since I can only run on weekends nowadays between engineering work at Universal and school. But keep up the great running and see you all in two weeks from today at the race. :goodvibes

Princesses,
This may be of some interest...I use this all of the time to resort hop when I don't feel like walking. I'm guessing the buses will now bring you to the front of EPCOT - so unless you walk, no World Showcase shortcut!

Friendship Boats to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and resorts in that area will not be available 2/14/2011- 3/10/2011. Disney is providing bus transportation to Disney's Hollywood Studios from the resort bus stop.

Way to go princesses. Training sounds GREAT! We had an unseasonably warm day today in the 60s and sunny, but I am still fighting off the virus. I went to a clinic today and the flu was ruled out. I will be SO happy when its gone! I see it as forced rest so what can you do? Its all good!

Looking forward to the trip.

For those looking for throw away blankets....Garden Ridge has fleece throws for either full price of $2.99 or if you aren't picky about color, ours had just the maroon ones for 50% off! Gotta love $1.50 for a blanket - I got one for each of my team. :cool1:

Today was my 14 mile day. It was around 40 degrees, unseasonably warm. I was really excited to get back on the (finally melted) streets.

Unfortunately, by 2 miles in, I just wasn't mentally in the game. I made a few stops home for water and whining breaks. I almost didn't go back out after 10.7 miles, but I forced it. My knees, feet and back were sore. I made it to 13.1, walking most of the last half. This is the 3rd time I went to 13.1, but the others were much easier than this one. The wind picked up, and I think that may be part of the problem. I finished right around 3:30....about 30 minutes longer than my last 13.1. I'm just trying to tell myself that it's just 1 bad run.:sad2:
