Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

I think by far the messiest commute at the end of the party is to the TTC by ferry or bus. So avoid that at all cost.

I figured that would be the case. If I'm taking the boat back to the Fort, I'm waiting with everyone who is going to TTC to get to their resort, etc. right?

So we're staying at the Fort and hanging out there the day of the Party. I wanted to know if it's just easier to drive from the Fort to the party? We're going to try to stay for the whole thing this time and don't want to spend 1.5 hours getting back on the boat. TIA

Are you planning on staying for the whole party? If not, I would walk over to the Contemporary and take the blue flagged boat to FW. The only problem is that the boats only run until 11:30, so I think that's before the party ends.

Where can I find out about the military discounts for the party?

The discounts are only available for September party dates. They were like $37.50 per adult. I paid $116 after tax for 2 adults and one child. They are not available by mail, online, or at Shades of Green, they are only available for purchase at a ticket window with a valid military ID.

But, all of this info is kind of moot considering the last discounted party is tomorrow night.

I have a dilema (sp?). My parents were suppose to go with us on Oct 16th for the MNSSHP and I purchased tickets for them. My stepmom called me this morning and said they could not meet up with us, she has received a letter requiring her to report to jury duty on the 17th. So, I have MNSSHP tickets for the Oct 16th party for the price I paid for them. If you need tickets or need extra tickets for that night, PM me. I got the AP rate and have to pick them up at will call. I hope I don't get in trouble for doing this and I apologize to the moderators if this is inappropriate. Just in a pickle.

yes... we couldn't last the whole party last year (our first trip) so this time we're going to relax until party time and head that way by 4pm-ish so that we can stay for the whole thing. This will be our last trip for a while and the girls absolutely love Halloween and the MNSSHP. If driving to the park and back is the path of least resistance, I'd like to maintain my sanity and not take so very long to get back to the fort:thumbsup2

Wait. You can't drive from MK to "the fort" or anywhere without parking at the TTC and taking the ferry when the monorail is not running. We were there at party closing on the 20th of Sept. and the crowds waiting to take the ferry were unreal. We were taking the bus to POP, so I am not sure how long those people waited. It is just nuts that the monorail is closed. You may have to resign yourselves to a long wait for a ride out if you stay until the party closes. Good luck and have fun!

that's what I was afraid of:sad2: Is it possible to stay for the second parade at 10:30p and head to the ferry right after maybe? That's about an hour before the end of the party, so maybe it'll be just enough to beat the crowd?

It really is hard to know. The crowds this year have seemed much larger than in previous years and we noticed a mass exodus following the second parade, so that may or may not work for you. We decided to spend the time following the 2nd parade in the back of the park where the trick-or-treat and ride lines were empty and the wait to see the dwarves was about 20 minutes. If you are up that late already, may as well make the most of it.

I just read on another forum that the 9/30 party is sold out. I was very surprised and thought I would pass on the info.

We are going tomorrow. I am bummed that it is sold out. I hope it isn't too crowded. Does anyone know how many tickets they sell for each night?

They don't release the figure. But funny thing..... it seems like more and more every year. :rolleyes1

Looks like the military discount only applies to the Sept. party dates and the 30th is the last one.

Wonder if that is part of the reason tonight's party is sold out? I was amazed when I read that but am guessing lots of folks in town for 40th as well.

I'm sure the 40th crowds have something to do with it. For those that came in just for the weekend, this is their one shot at MNSSHP.

But I believe the party on the 23rd sold out too. Not sure I'd chalk that one up to the 40th.

I wonder if we'll see them go back to starting the parties earlier in September next year. Of course after all the transportation hassles this year, they might not have the same level of crowds to worry about next year.

Note to self: Schedule MNSSHP trip for 2012! :thumbsup2

Are you saying the 23rd of Sept or 23 of Oct?

Thanks, we are planning on going the 23rd of Oct but have yet to buy our tickets. :lmao:

I wouldn't hold off on that if I were you. If the Friday's in September are selling out, those parties closer to Halloween are bound to sell our sooner rather than later, irregardless of day of the week.

Any word yet on whether Halloween night is sold out yet? We are going Nov 1, but I got our tickets a few weeks ago just to be safe.
