Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

I agree..it was a letdown. I was so excited for DD to trick or treat at Disney and it just wasn't worth it:sad1: I will say though that they gave her a handful of candy and one CM (the one by the riverboat) gave her at least 10 packages m & m's..;)
We did find a front spot for parade but people were trying to squeeze their kids infront of my daughter and I WAS NOT having that and I kindly asked them not to push her back, like they were doing! A nice lady next to us just told me to keep DD's stroller right at the rope and put the brakes on:lmao:

Hi. I've posted a few times asking for a list of all photo opportunities. People have directed me to sites where I can find the character meet and greet locations. I was hoping someone could list all of the other key photos and their locations. Some of the ones I'm thinking of are:
Cinderella's Carriage
Haunted Carriage Ride
Ghost Hitch Hikers
I think there is another one but I can't think of it. Is it a magic shot?
Also where can I find the Hag from Snow White?
How do I know where to line up for the Evil Queen Meet and Greet?
Other than these where are other photopass locations at MNSSHP?
Thank you all so much! -Roni

Last year we had a photopass shot on the side of the castle. I think there might have been bats projected on the side of the castle or something.

Hitchhiking ghosts - MK near Haunted Mansion, usually on on MNSSHP nights

Carriage Driver Ghost - MK, at hearse carriage at the entrance of Haunted Mansion. Usually only on MNSSHP nights.

Someone also mentioned that there's a magic shot at Pirates of the Carribean. Not sure if it's still there this year.

The villains at the Mix & Mingle line up in this order (from left to right): Maleficient, Dr. Facilier, the Snow Queen, Frollo, Captain Hook, Cruella, and the Queen of Hearts.

Does Haunted Mansion run during this party? If so, how are the lines? I would imagine pretty crazy considering the atmosphere of the party :)

Thanks for posting about the villains... do they just meet right down in front of the stage? I would love for my son to meet Captain Hook.

We went last night and it seemed fairly uncrowded. Some of the lines for the characters we kind of long but the was plenty of room to move around at the villains show ,fireworks and late parade. Some of the candy lines were long but most just took a few minutes.:maleficen

I know what you mean about the crowds! As if it wasn't bad enough to pay $50+ per ticket, I felt like I HAD to go twice because I didn't get much done the first night (We went the 23rd and the 27th). The first night was so HOT and HUMID that my DCuz refused to get in his costume. :sad2:

THE BEST CANDY line is by the Dwarfs behind Splash Mt. It has several barrels along the trail and splits a couple of times. I thought the candy was good and different on each night. I got a ton of Lemon heads and M&Ms on the first night and more chocolate like Snickers and Almond Joys the second night. The lines for candy were pretty long but, moved pretty fast. But, all but that one by Splash Mt only had one barrel at the end. We went to several candy spots and only got half a bag of candy in the small bag they gave us.

I also stood in line to see Mickey and Minnie only to realize I got to them before 7 and they were in their regular outfits! :sad1: So, I had to do it again on the second night. :sad2: The characters only stay out for like 20 min. then there is a break of nothing!!! At least w/Alice in Wonderland, it was Alice and then! - we were lucky and got Alice AND the Mad Hatter! Then Alice left and everyone else got the Mad Hatter. :)

The first night the characters all left and the outside rides all shut down for over an hour because there was lightening/thunder. But, it never rained.

The longest line was for Jack Sparrow. The first night his manager let people take a picture of him from around the courtyard w/o standing in the line. The second night, his handler refused to let anyone near him w/o standing in line over an hour. The first night, he was nice enough to shoot us some eye contact:

What is everyone's experience at the party when it rains. We are going on the 10th and I'm getting a little depressed that it looks like rain most of the week. Please someone attempt to reassure me that I didn't pay extra $$$ for these tickets for nothing!

We were originally planning to go on Tuesday the 18th, but now can only go on Sunday the 16th. Anyone have any crowd predictions for that party? How have Sundays been generally?

And I'm wondering about the 18th! :goodvibes I know the 27th was sold out and I think the 23rd was, as well.

Anyone been to one of the parties that hasn't sold out and can report back on their crowd experience? popcorn::

Hi. I'm going to Disney and MNSSHP for the first time. I am overwhelmed and since I have a disability I really have to preplan. I'm hoping one of you more experienced party goers can help me make a plan. I'm not sure if we should do the dance party. It might help to know it will just be my husband and me. (we are dressing as Snow White and The Prince) This would help me immensely and I would be so grateful! We definitely want to do the following; Hallowishes, The 2nd parade, Villains show.
The rest of the things we want to do I will list in order of importance. I know I am listing more than we could possibly do in one night. We are going October 23rd and can arrive early to line up. It would be wonderful if you could give times to find a spot for the parade, fire works, villain show, time to get in the first line etc. I know this is asking for a lot of detail but it would be incredibly appreciated! Also, I don't remember where the Hag and Cinderella Carriage are.

Meet the Evil Queen
Meet Suzy and Perla

Meet Lotso

Meet The Hag
Meet Mickey and Minnie
Maleficent
Jafar
Any other photo-ops, trick or treating, and dance parties would be great if we can fit them in. I wouldn't say they are at the bottom of our list but not the top either. I just want to thank anyone and everyone that can help me with all of this! You are all so wonderful!:worship: I wish you all a hauntingly good Halloween! -Roni

When I kept checking on weather for the week we went, it showed rain every day. It rained one day that I know of and that was in the evening.

This is good to know. We are going on the 10th too and you had me worried. :) I try not to look at the weather too earlly either. It will keep changing evryday. :)

We just came back last night and went to the party on Friday the 30th. I have friends who were there and went to the Tuesday the 27th and had pretty much the same experience. This was our third party. We went in 2001 and 2004 and decided on one last time for our daughter who wasn't born for the first one and only 10 months in 2004. I'm glad we did it for her to experience but compared to the other times we went this one was PACKED. My parents were with us and ended up leaving half-way through which was too bad but.... My DD had a great time but honestly we wouldn't go again. I was disappointed at how crowded it seemed.

Is there a reason why the parties are so crowded now? Will it only get worse the closer to Halloween we get or is there something special like a school break or something else that has the parties so busy? I am expecting the party on the 23rd to be busy but not sold out! Oh I hope it's not sold out! Is there anywhere on the net to check how tickets have sold for each party so we can expect how busy the party will be? On the other hand it still looks like tickets are still available for the 31st?!

I expect that the parks (and parties) were really busy the last of September because that was the latest in the year you could get free dining for a long time. October on was not added until late August, and there was a lot of doubt up to that point as to whether it would indeed be added. So lots took the "bird in the hand" and went late September.

Or maybe the Halloween party is just catching on more.

No way to know.

There is also no way to know how sold out a given party is. They don't even announce how many "limited attendance" tickets they sell on a given night. I assume that is so they can increase it from year to year with no pushback.

You CAN have fun on a sold out night. Just go in with the right approach, have priorities, and know you can't do it all.

This is what we tried to do! It was easy to get sidetracked though trying to get all over the place with the crowds! I think it was just more enjoyable when it was more of an "unknown" secret!

Had to share these with you as well. I'm sure you'll recognize her costume! We got an incredible amount of compliments on it. Even one of the girls at BBB said that she liked it more than their version. Thank you again!!!

Awwww..... she's gorgeous!

Thank you for my afternoon smile! :goodvibes

I think those parties we busy because of the 40th aniv, F&W, and F&W half marathon. Lots of people here. We went on the 2nd and it didn't seem that crowded.

Me and my family were planing to do:

6:10 crystal palace meeting pooh and friends
7:00 haunted mansion
7:30 adventureland veranda characters, specially Aladdin (I'll be dressed as Jasmine)
woody's dance party
meet princess at the theater
meet Gaston and Lotso at hub
9:30 hallowishes
10:30 boo to you
11:15 villains
11:40 626 dance party
11:50 trick or treat

Do you know if we would have time for all? We're going the 23rd of Oct, and do you know if they really stop giving out candies at 12 or they stop 12:10 or some minutes after midnight, we don't care waiting a lot for the buses
