Official 2011 MNSSHP Party Planning Thread ..BOO to You and You..Happy Halloween!

We were there Sept 20th, had a good time but it did seem more crowded but the rides were only 5 minute wait times..Its more hectic not staying at the resort and going to the party..this year we stayed at the beach and drove over..on a down note when we got home our home was robbed, what a way to end a vacation..:guilty:

Wow so sorry to hear about that!:scared1: Hope you didn't loose too much?

i went to the september 23rd party, my first one ever. my DH and i ran to get into line with Captain Jack Sparrow outside the POTC ride at about 645. had waited for about 25 minutes when we were second in line. A HUGE lightning storm came in, and they pulled him inside, and apparently all other characters that were outside. we decided to stick it out since we had been waiting so long anyway and all the inside rides were crowded because of the storm. after 30 minutes they FINALLY brought him back. the storm also pushed back most of the night like the first parade and villians meet and greets. all in all it was a pretty good night. i thought it was crowded but it was my first party so what do i know. most everyone shuffled out after fireworks though. MK only open till midnight though, and it went fast. Hallowishes was awesome!

I cant wait to go. I just saw the pp picture w/ the halloween border & the ghosts! I LOVE IT! looking forward to getting one for myself! YAY!

I am so glad this thread exists! It has been VERY helpful!

A few additional questions -

1) Is the Halloween merchandise only on sale from7p-12a?
2) Can you have the shops deliver to a WDW hotel, vs carrying stuff around?
3) Where is the best place to stand for Hallowishes - Is Casey's far enough back to see all the bursts? (I usually like to watch the firworks right in front of the castle, because it feels so magical, but I know I miss some of the bursts)
4) Normally, we would snag a curb spot fo MSEP and then stay for Wishes. How would it work seeing Hallowishes, then the 2nd parade? That is do people who got spots for the first parade, 'take' all the good spots for wishes? Or do people tend to leave the area and come back for Hallowishes?

Thank you in advance! Can't wait to the party!

Hi is there somewhere (that I've missed) that has the updated info from the first party? The first post still says "from last year"......

Thanks!

well since you are only doing MNSSHP it might be better just to buy the photos using the 40% off that night.....you still might want to order the CD and then you can canc it like momtoejanda posted.

Thank you both that is exactly what I am going to do. I ordered the cd with the hopes that I will get at least some really good shots. If I dont think it is worth it I will ask for a refund. Thank you. October 23rd here we come. Why are there no character meals between 12-2pm outside of the world?
I think I am 6 pages away from reading this whole post. Started it in August.

1. The party merchandise if only for sale after 7 PM, but generic Halloween stuff is available all day. Be careful as stores close right at midnight (don't stay open an hour after closing) so don't wait until the last minute.
2. I think we have had party merchandise delivered to resorts but they do not do from of the park pick-up as there is not enough time to guarantee it would be there.
3. We actually stand closer to castle than normal during parties to see all the projections on the castle.
4. In our experience, people do stay after the parade for Hallowishes, but remember you can find good spots in the street for the fireworks (don't have to stay on the curb). There may be a Villains Mix-n-Mingle during this time as well.

Does anyone know if we can bring our own bags in to trick or treat? I was going to make little gift tote bags w/ stickers and stuff on them... is this allowed?
TIA

If anyone wants to get their trick-or-treat bucket early, the Disney Store has them here. Also, today only there is a 25% off code: PARK25

I thought you are given a bag?

They do give you a bag but it's small and the same as everyoen else's. We always bring out own. They are also selling Mickey ghost popcorn buckets which would also be great for collecting candy.

Wow, great info in this thread.
We plan on attending our First MNSSHP on Tues, Oct. 25th. Hoping to wait until a few days beforehand to purchase tickets though...maybe I should rethink that?
Also, we have scheduled a morning visit to HS and lunch at Sci Fi before heading back to the Polyl for the afternoon off. Do you think we are crazy for trying to do a 1/2 day park visit and then a party that night? Wednesday we plan on being a rest day as we will probably be at the party fairly late.

We just got back. Went to the Sept 27th MNSSHP. We went on the 28th last year and had an amazing time. There had to have been double the number of people this year. I couldn't believe how many people were in the park even at 11:30. They had to cut off the lines for the Villians at the 11:15 show and meet and greet. I tried three times to get my picture with Maleficsent, three different parties and no luck. :( My eyes were boggling at the crowds in front of the castle and along Main Street around 7pm.

I swear there was less this year as well. The trick or treat trail around Splash Mountain is poorly designed. I miss the cave walk through. That whole area was ridiculously crowded and confusing. There was a line for the candy, a line for Splash Mountain, and a line for the Dwarves, all converging at a certain point. At 11:00pm the wait to meet the Dwarves was still longer than there was time left for the party.

The parade was also not quite as good as last year. They cut something out, but I can't quite put my finger on what exactly it was.

The lines for the rides were still fairly short considering the amount of people.

We had Military discounted tickets which were nearly half off, and I was glad for it because I don't know that I would have paid full price for this year's party. Hopefully next year will be better when Fantasyland re-opens to full capacity.

So we're staying at the Fort and hanging out there the day of the Party. I wanted to know if it's just easier to drive from the Fort to the party? We're going to try to stay for the whole thing this time and don't want to spend 1.5 hours getting back on the boat. TIA

I think by far the messiest commute at the end of the party is to the TTC by ferry or bus. So avoid that at all cost.
