Offical free dining watch 2008

Thank You for your sweet comment:hug: We have prayed for a child for over 7 years. Turns out, we decided Foster to Adopt was the way for us. Of course, our home will be a safe haven for some children, while their parents do what they need to in order to have their children back.

It does pain me to think that one mothers loss will be my great blessing, and that my children will have to go through SO much before they come to my arms, BUT, I'm grateful and extremely prayerful daily over the lives we don't yet know.

I appreciate your dear sweet comment. I too look forward to those nice FDDP's

I just read your story and had to tell you mine. We have 5 children. 3 born under my heart and 2 born in my heart. The 2 were foster to adopt children. They were the first children placed in our home. We too prayed for our children and new at first site the they were ours.
I just want you to know that there may be some rough roads ahead as children services may send them home and then bring them back. Our baby went back 4 times before he was finally placed with us permanently.
Both of our children have ADHD, Bi-Polar. One is autistic and one has Oppositional Defiance Disorder but all is managed with meds.

We love them as much as any of our children and would not change any thing for the world. The older 3 have now left home and we are here with just these 2. And loving every minute of our lives knowing we made a difference in a child's life. We feel so blessed and thank God daily for our children.

Just keep praying and God will bless you.

now I will say it could've changed but I know its been that way the last 2 years..

Regardless he could get the free dining and get 1 free CS a day and a free snack. That's still better than paying OOP.

That's only assuming you get NO other discounts.

I geneally go with an AP discount. That would be a better deal since I eat very few TS meals.

Hi there Brain! I had thought of getting 2 CS's as they had allowed that before and you got an extra snack as well. That would fit my eating pattern better and save the tip. Since we stay at the Values it would be worthwhile, money and ease, but not so much for the higher priced resorts where the discount would be much more.

lovesdumbo, from what I understand if you have an AP you no longer have to buy a one day pass. Not sure if that is so with the Free Dining since it would be a package though. I have a nice stack of one day passes to use up at some point. I use one to renew our passes each year but I still have a bunch as we book more than one ressie (used to have a ten day limit and even at the 14 day limit we had two ressies).

Goofy'sPrincess , what lucky children and how lucky you will be also. I could tell by your words that you already love these children you have not even met. I work with learning disabled and neglected children and well understand how much they need what you have to offer. I want to take them home with me too but circumstances do not allow it. Best wishes and I hope to run into you and your family on a future trip.

That's so cool that you have done such a special thing! Have you checked out the DISabilities thread? It's always a great place to go when I have a question/problem, or just need someone to listen when we're having a rough day. There's also great ideas for how to handle the parks (using GAC and other innovative ideas) when you go ;)

I'm sure to get free DDP you will need to book a package with a ticket.

I actually booked AP w/DDP for my 6 night May trip with just my youngest DD. I don't think we'll save too much as we are doing 1 character dinner, 3 character breakfasts, and a 2 credit dinner-certainly not the "maximum" use of DDP credits but they way I calculated it I would save about $20 over using DDE (which I already have). I used a relatively low estimate for CS and snacks so I figured I might as try it.

We paid for DDP last August on our 10 night family trip (2 adults, 3 children) and while we "saved" money vs paying OOP we would have skipped a lot of meals as it was hot and we got tired of eating TS everyday but they were prepaid. I don't want to do DDP (even with AP) this summer on our 14 night trip as I know it won't suit us very well. I only have the 1 extra day ticket left that I'll use to renew my AP in May.

:rotfl2: That was funny and SO true. It's our FIRST vacation since we've been married. We're in the foster to adopt program which will take 11 weeks to get through and with the homestudy we're looking at having little ones no later than November.

My husband thought we should take one more "Dream Vacation" alone together for the last time. We chose Disney. We had sticker shock:lmao: But KNOW it's worth the money.

We're hoping to be able to bring our children to Disney with us NEXT year, but it will depend on the status of their custody issues. We DO hope we can brighten the lives of our dear children whoever they will be. But your graphic made me laugh:flower3:

We were where you are about 10 years ago. We adopted the sweetest little boy who isn't so little anymore. lol It is awsome sharing Disney with a child. You are about to embark on the hardest yet most satisfying journey of your life. If you need someone to talk to feel free to PM me.

Thank you wvdislover,
I have checked out the disabilities thread several times and have gleaned a lot of information. I do plan on getting a GAC for them. We have done WDW before but that was 4 years ago. They are older and things have changed. But I'm sure with all the magic we will have an awesome time.:goodvibes

 To you all! I was just brought to tears. Thank You so much for sharing your experiences with me on foster to adopt. I've been having SO much Fun preparing their room and have plans to bring back some goodies from Disney for planned Christmas Gifts.

I actually wanted a gender neutral theme so I've used bright reds, yellows, oranges.....and the theme is "Finding Nemo". I'm hoping to find some nice pictures to add to the walls.

The best find ever was someone who gave me 60 HUGE stuffed animals that were brand new. Oh, the Children who will be blessed with the love of a teddy bear, plush dolly, or HUGE stuffed animals brings great joy to my heart. I plan to give away some to other foster families, but wanted them for children who will come into a new, unknown environment that could use the love of a teddy bear.

We bought a bunk bed and a crib and all is well in waiting.

As for the hard times, I've been praying and expecting those as well. My husband is an RN and his fellow coworker recently had her heart broken after the court system placed the children back with the mother permanently after 4 Severe issues back and forth.

I honestly am trying to prepare myself for this. We stopped Trying to Conceive a couple years ago as the fertility meds made me loopy. Such heartache to always wonder if it was BFP and always came out negative. We just knew from the beginning of our marriage that adoption would be right for us.....but the thought of more loss scares me so much....but I look to God for strength that even in the dark times, there will be joy in site.

Anyways, thanks so much for sharing your personal experiences with me. What a blessing. I do look forward to getting to know you all:flower3:

Praying for those FDDP with hopes they'll share it with us THIS WEEK:yay: popcorn::

I am always in awe of those who will open their homes to children in need. I pray that you will only find joy in this experience, and am certain these children will have a very blessed home with you. :grouphug:

My prayers go to all of yall who open your heart as well as your home to those children without.

Hey guys! I just posted this on the other free dining thread but thought I'd share it here too.
Just got off the phone with a dining CM to make our ADR's. When she asked if we were on the dining plan, I said "Not unless it's free!" and she responded, "well, it's not going to be free this year."

Thought I'd share...take it for what it's worth! :)

Not sure anyone can answer this question, but...

IF FD is released and the dates are (like the rumor says) August until Sept 27th, does that include the night of the 27th? That is - my current ressie is for Sept 20th -> checkout Sept 28th... am I going to have to pay for an extra day of DDP, or do I squeak by on those dates?

Thanks!

Like sandybobandy said, take it for what it's worth. Some CMs say, "Yes, free dining is coming," while others say, "Nope, not this year." I tend to rely on the rumors that come from the TAs who post on this board, and the *************'s website (they broke the news first last year). I'm just a nobody with an opinion, but I'm still willing to bet that we'll all see free dining next week, so don't despair, hang in there!:cheer2:

I am not giving up hope. I will keep waiting and watching.
I just hate to read that a CM said it would not happen. I like reading the good/yes rumors. :thumbsup2
